  • Excellent! As before, his work is so professional. The floor is perfect, the bench is wonderful and I especially love the tile in our front hallway. He had no problem at all cutting the tiles to create an interesting pattern instead of just doing a normal horizontal lay-out. He will do exactly as you ask but if you ask his opinion, he has plenty of experience and will gladly give you an opinion or a suggestion. We're already planning on having him back next year to redo our main bathroom.

  • The job was performed at well below par. They did not cover trim & quarter rounds so stain splashed all over our white trim and kitchen cabinets. Stain dripped down the walls and trim of our staircase. Uneven top coat with lint, hair and other debris in the sealer - as if they didn't vacuum after they sanded. They charged us more than quoted and when we discussed the additional charges, we were told we would be reimbursed - but we never got our money back. We have had 2 other contractors come and look at our floors where RippnFinish messed up. Both advised us that the job was amateurish at best. I would not hire this company again.

  • I would like to start by saying, the kitchen looks great. It is beautiful and we have had tons of compliments on how it turned out. However, the process getting to that point was extremely frustrating and difficult. The project was supposed to last 6 weeks and it took almost 4 months. Many of the subcontractors did low quality work that had to be redone throughout the entire project. Wrong sizes of cabinets were ordered and had to be reordered. Cabinets were dented/scratched during install that also had to be reordered (some were never reordered and we are just living with it). Communication was poor throughout the project, and the owner, Bryce, was not only rude, but was not true to his word on multiple occasions. Our project manager Nate was not without flaw, as his communication could have been better as well, but he was at least gracious and apologetic when he made a mistake. This was very different from Bryce, the owner who tried to blame anyone but himself. Nate worked hard to make the flaws and mistakes right again, Bryce on the other hand, alluded that we were too picky and that we should be okay with the low quality of work. In the end, when they continued to not complete all of the punch list items, my husband and I finally started fixing the rest of the items ourselves. This all occurred between July and October of 2015. After completion of the project, our dishwasher never seemed to work quite right. We called multiple times and finally a GE repair person came to take a look in February. What he discovered was that Cabinet Clad had hooked the dishwasher up to the cold water line instead of hot, causing the dishwasher to trip a fuse. We called Bryce to have him send someone out to fix it. He said he would, but that WE would have to pay for it (so don't believe the one year warranty stated on their website.) Bryce then asked to speak with the GE repair man that was there so that he could understand the issue. When he got off the phone, the repairman said he was extremely condescending to him. This, to a complete stranger! Nate was then scheduled to come out first thing Friday morning. He didn't show and rescheduled for Saturday at noon. I cancelled my plans Saturday to be there for his appointment and he did not show again and also did not call or text to say he wasn't coming or to reschedule. I text him twice with no response. Frustrated, we called someone else to come over and fix the issue costing us more money. (Again, don't believe the warranty they claim.) During the process of fixing it, it was discovered that Cabinet Clad also hooked up the water lines to our kitchen heater incorrectly and it has been dripping water under our kitchen floor, into our basement, and through the walls since installation. After a month of chasing Bryce again to fix the issue, the leak, new tile, and new drywall was finally fixed. I would like to reiterate that the finished product looks great, but it was quite a headache to get to the finish.

  • After watching so many TV shows on nightmare contractors, I came into the partnership with a unfair distrust.  I liked the KC Home Solutions crew from the moment we started talking to them at the home show. I had been planning this basement finish for so long, and there were many emotional ties that were part of the project. I was so afraid of being another nightmare story, It took about 2 weeks into the actual work that I finally got these guys know their stuff.
As stressed out as I might get through out the process, I want to say every time I talked to Nick the owner, I felt better and knew we had made the right choice.
Framing for the entire space was done in a day and half and the owner Nick was on site to start. The electricians were awesome and gave me everything I asked for. The plumbing was laid out all in one day and that included breaking the cement floor.
I would hire Nick and KC Home Solutions again.
That being said I think like any construction project there are always challenges.  We finished about 1400 sq ft of an 1800 sq ft basement so it was no tiny project. Every subcontractor or vendor  KC Home Solutions use are top notch. Wood work, tile,  flooring, electricians, and plumbers. Basically any trade that shows up with a real logo on their vehicle is going to produce good stuff.   Where I think we ran into challenges were with drywall and painters. They are less skilled labor and more manual labor. I have checked this with other contractors... it is really hard to find a good long lasting crew for this kind of work.  We felt they rushed and were a bit sloppy so extra work needed to be done to finish it right.  The thing about it is that Nick and his guys they will fix any issue and make it right.   One other criticism that we have is that the time management for our project seemed to be challenging and control of the timeline could have been managed better, we went about 2-3 weeks longer than we should have.  As frustrating as that was, we stayed in contact with Nick and everyone involved, our got basement finished and it is amazing.  I trust Nick and would have him back.   We recently had to replace a kitchen faucet, and we contacted Nick so we could use the plumbers who did our basement work.
Something different about our job is that I had almost 95%  designed and selected prior to hiring KC Home Solutions.   This included the floor plan and layout. When it was all finished it looked almost exactly like what I had spent 3 years dreaming and designing.  When my family sees the completed pictures they say it perfectly matches what I had attempted to describe to them.  I think this is a positive for Nick and his crew, as they listened, and were able take what I dreamed up on paper and made it a reality.
Even though I brought the design to my project, I  believe they have a good design aesthetic and if you don't have anything designed or you just have a general outline of what you want, this crew can give you something you never expected and you will be thoroughly happy with the finished results.
I have one last tip, it is good to have ideas or general thoughts on color and such, but I recommend visiting their vendors for tile, fixtures and such to see what they have before you get yourself committed to something you saw on Houzz or at a big box store.KC Home Solutions uses Vendors that have quality products that you will want to use and it makes the process quicker and easier.   One caveat to that, unless it truly is an inferior product (and Nick will take the time to explain why he doesn't recommend using it) they will incorporate anything you want.

  • Work was done mostly by a two man crew.  Most of the work was in the prep  to install the tile.  They did a good job on prep except for one high spot they didn't seem to know how to deal with.  On the actual installation, it came out nice - eventually.  The grout didn't want to stick and blend correctly between the tile.  The leadman came back the day after the installation and touched up most of the bad spots after a phone call to BR.  He left a bucket of grout so I could touch it up later as well.  I touched it up one more time two days later and am very happy with the end result.    I still don't understand why the grout was so hard to get to apply correctly,  so I'm not sure whether BR can be blamed for the issue or if it was actually a manufacturing glitch in the grout.

  • We contacted Monte at M&M Tile to get a bid on tiling our laundry room and foyer.  We already had the tile so when Monte came he knew what it was that he was bidding and/or installing (travertine stone).  Monte arrived at all appts on time and was very prompt in emailing the bid.  We did get another bid and Monte?s was a little higher but we were impressed with his professionalism and knowledge (we also asked him to bid our master bathroom which is another project to start in a few weeks).  We also appreciated how the bid was laid out with detail on each project (especially the master bathroom).  Though our original project was the laundry room and the foyer an afterthought, Monte thought that he could whip out the foyer quickly so we scheduled it first.  Monte got right to work as we discussed the pattern/layout of the tile.  Since we are really novice at re-modeling we looked to Monte to answer our questions.  He always does a thorough job of it and always makes sure that both of us are on the same page.
We had tile in the foyer and the bid included removing the tile and installation of the new.  When Monte got into the demolition he realized that the original tile was installed very well and was much more difficult than anticipated to remove.  It wasn?t long after he started that Monte realized that the fine dust of removing the grout/tile was going everywhere so he decided he needed to put up a barrier to minimize the mess.  This was greatly appreciated!  Though the demolition took longer than anticipated Monte worked all day to get that done and the tile laid and of course, came back the next day to grout (and I believe it was a Saturday too)!
Thankfully, the laundry room was not as big a mess as the foyer as it had linoleum.  Monte got the laundry room done in a day and again came back the next day to grout and he  also cut and installed the base molding and door moldings (wasn?t in the original bid), which my husband greatly appreciated!
We are so happy with our choice in the tile and in choosing Monte as our tile contractor.  As I mentioned, we are gearing up to start our next project and have 1 or 2 others in mind down the road him.  Monte has been very helpful in answering our questions, taking his time to understand what we are looking for and making suggestions where appropriate.  We also appreciate Monte?s quick response to us and continued contact to keep in touch during and in-between our projects.
We would highly recommend Monte at M&M Tile; professional, knowledgeable and takes a lot of pride in his work and the details to make his customers happy?and an all-round great guy ta-boot!

  • From the start of picking out the flooring with Whitney and making sure that our design and color scheme worked together to installing the flooring, the staff at Con Carpet were all professional and went out of their way to help us. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful in every way possible to make the adventure painless. I can't thank Whitney, Tim and the rest of the staff enough. They were on time for installing and left the place in  good order. The quality and price is comparable to high end places but you don't get the hassle of the sales staff trying to up sell things you don't need or want.
I will definitely go back to Con Carpet for future needs.

  • The process was great!!! Mr. Barbosa has his own crew; those who install and those who sand and stain. Mr. Barbosa and his crew are very professional and hard working. They come in and work until finished. When we first called for bids, we called three companies. All three were off of Angie's List. Mr. Barbosa returned the telephone call within three (3) minutes! He then was at our front door within 30 minutes, and this was on a Saturday afternoon!!! The other two did not return phone calls that day. One didn't return a phone call for two weeks!!! Mr. Barbosa is very honest and knows his business well! The ONLY thing we had to wait on was the wood that had been ordered. That had nothing to do with Mr. Barbosa and his company. As soon as the wood was in, Mr. Barbosa had his crew pick it up and we were underway. We not only recommend Precision Hardwood Floors, but we will use him again! We couldn't be any happier with our new floors! Everyone who sees them has raved how great they look! The upkeep is a breeze and we do not miss the carpeting!

  • Carpet repair was done well. However, it took two days for the carpet to dry. My concern is for the wet carpet pad and underlayment. There must have been an awful lot of dirty water left in the carpet for it to be so wet for so long. He was personable but perhaps needs new equipment.
