Fence Company reviews in Blue Springs

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We were told each post would have one full bag of concret, and that is what we paid for. However when the men that showed up, they had about 20 bags left over and the holes were barley half full. We took pictures to tell the owner. He sent them back out to "fix the problem" they mixed maybe 2 bags and just topped of some of the posts. Not all. Just a few months after the fence was complete one of the gates won't open, it gets stuck. 6mo later we find out from the city one whole side of the fence has to be moved back because it is not in code, we contacted the company and were told we put it where you wanted it! You would think a reputable company would at least tell you hey this is not in code, do you still want it here? But nothing. Now they're too busy to move it, with us even willing to pay. We have had other fence companies come out for quotes and we have been told that there are not even enough nails in the fence, it will start curling and willneed replaced in less than a year. Again we tried to contact the company, were told two times he would come out to look at it and now he won't reply and has not showed up!!! Horrible business and horrible experience over all.

  • The owner came out and gave us a bid, he was the third one to come out and was the lowest of the three. He gave us date of when he would have someone out and they had it up all in one day. His employees were great and the owner even came out to make sure we were satisfied! We highly recommend his company.

  • They did a great job! Replaced four rotten wood fence posts with metal posts set in concrete (extensive work) - fence is now solid & sturdy, looks nice. Moved (centered) a light fixture over a sink that was off center, repaired sheetrock and texture where fixture used to be, looks good. Moved an existing closet shelf and rod up to make room for an additional rod in walk-in closet, much better. They do high quality work at a reasonable rate. Very pleasant people. We plan on having them do some more work for us. I highly recommend them.

  • I  gave Mark Rhodes a call for an estimate and he was able to come out right away to take measurements of the backyard. Mark was very timely and professional. I had even mentioned the possibility of installing the fence myself, and he was friendly enough to share some tips of the trade. He was open to answering any questions I had and explained the installation process in full detail.  I contacted Mark a few days later and we were able to schedule the install during a busy season for them. The team showed up just as we discussed. They came out on a Tuesday, removed the old fence on one side and began setting the posts. In two days they were back and completed the fence within a few hours.  I would also like to add that during the install, KCP&L was working on some transformers in my yard, both of which determined the placement of the fence and affected the install. The team was very cooperative and worked with and around KCP&L to get the job done. I am very happy with the way the fence turned out and pleased with the overall service that Mark Rhodes and his team provided.

  • Mark came out to look at the job within 1-1.5 hours of my phone call. During our discussion of what I wanted done, he was very negative about doing parts of it, did not offer options without being urged to, and did not provide specifics on how the job would be done. He also made several comments that I discussed with two other fence installers and they both did not share his concerns. Mark did not work up an estimate on site, but told me he would email it to me by the end of the next business day. I did not receive it. I appreciated his rapid response in coming out to look at the job, but based on the inconsistencies of our discussion and the lack of an estimate, I chose to go with another company.

  • Roy came to give me an estimate on the work the day after I called. I was given a 2-hour window at the end of the day during which he would come. His office called to confirm the appointment on the afternoon it was scheduled. Despite this, at 10 minutes before the end of the window, I called the office since no one had arrived yet. Roy answered and said he was on his way and arrived shortly after 5 pm. He provided a written estimate at the visit, but I discovered potential hidden charges (e.g., haul off of old fence, additional digging charges for adverse digging conditions) as we discussed it. When I asked about getting the city permit for the fence, he then acknowledged it was needed and that I would have to get it myself. I saw this later at the bottom of the estimate. He patiently answered all of my questions satisfactorily, but did not offer any suggestions (without being asked) to ensure I would be well-pleased with the results. His prices were slightly less than the company I decided to use, but their price included haul-off, etc. I did not use this company due to the many potential hidden charges.

  • The crew was efficient and arrived and completed the job as scheduled. The new fence and porch railing looked great. The work area was clean and looked good when they left. They had to move the existing fence line and you could barely tell it had been moved. We were happy with the work.

  • We contacted Rhodes in spring (June) for a quote.  They came out promptly and did the quote for us.  After finishing all of our quotes and reading reviews on Angies list we decided to go with Rhodes after approximately a month (early July approximately).  At that time, we let them know we wanted the fence.  The rest of the summer went by without contact from them at all.  My wife then called in Sept to see what was going on, and it appeared to us they may have forgotten about us.  An important note however is they never asked us for any money up front.
Once confirmed that it would not be to long from that point (late Sept.), we went ahead and had a survey done and got our permit from the city.  Rhodes called one-stop as required.  We happen to have a 8 inch gas/diesel line running through our backyard so they had to coordinate with that company while installing.   They came out when that guy was available on a Wednesday.
It turns out our yard is riddled with electric, cable and gas lines.  Rhodes did an awesome job keeping our fence on the line by hand digging all trouble spots for all of the posts.  They removed every bit of old fence.
We were given no indication of when they would return to put up the pickets.  It was the following Monday.  That was a bit annoying to be without a fence for 4-5 days as our neighbor has a dog and we removed their fence (with permission) to put in this one.
We are very happy with the end product.   The fence looks great and the gates work flawlessly.  They did everything we wanted including three gates and cutting a corner because of an electrical box.  The crew was very nice while on site and left a clean yard when finished.
We would definitely recommend them to all friends, family, and neighbors.  It may require a little patience when working them, but it is worth it for the work performed.

  • Wow! Try to find a fence contractor in late summer!  I had no idea they were all turning away work.  Roy & sons were swamped but got us in the queue to get the job done.  We had a new dog & were anxious to use our back yard as a safe haven.
Prepare for sticker shock.  Chain link is pretty high.  74 feet and the two gates were $1600.  The second gate, two 7' units meeting in the middle was necessary because of our RV.  The team did an outstanding job with an unorthodox angle & made it work for us.  I was very impressed by the offer to dump a wheelbarrow of my dirt wherever I wanted it,

  • The work done by Mark and his crew was top-notch.  Mark worked with us on scheduling the work to be done based on our vacation and everything was completed when he said it would be.
One of the requirements was for an extra large gate on one side, which they easily accommodated.  We did have a concern that over time the extra weight of the door would be a strain on the two hinges.  We asked Mark to add a third hinge on this large door, which he did at not additional cost.
Rhodes Fence is very professional and I would highly recommend them.
