    Mark's Tile Service
We arranged Mark's visits, which took place over three mornings, on August 6 - 8. He was always prompt to arrive and worked diligently. The resulting work is exactly what I wanted - beautiful white mortar just like on day one.

    Deano Tile
Dean and his crew were absolutely amazing. While this wasn't the lowest bid we had, we felt confident from prior reviews and images, along with speaking with Dean, that his crew would be great. They did not disappoint. We were wanting to take out a hearth in front of our fireplace and re-tile the entire thing. Dean was very detailed in his explanation of issues that they may face without knowing what was behind and under the hearth, and what they would be doing exactly. Luckily, there were no surprises. We also had our backsplash demoed and re-tiled. Everything went smoothly there as well. The entire crew was very friendly. Dean even went above and beyond by picking up some material for me that I had forgotten and just tacked it on at the end so I didn't have to leave work. He was also constantly in communication with me prior to the job and when they might be able to get to us. This great communication continued throughout the entire project. The only possible improvement I could suggest, which wasn't a big deal at all, is in cleanup. I will say that while they did clean up the work area (swept, vacuumed, and wiped around the work area), this left something to be desired. This could have also been because they recognized my wife was in a time crunch and ready to leave the first day (which included demo) so this very well could have been due to us. There was a lot of tile dust left on the floor next to our pantry that was a little bit away from the work area itself in the kitchen that we had to mop up ourselves. We expected us having to do some cleanup around the tiling itself because of being unable to use water near it for the first 24-48 hours, but the floor left something to be desired. Again, this wasn't a big deal at all to us and could have very well been our fault. Overall, we were extremely happy with the result. We will definitely use him again for our tiling needs!

    Tile By Kyle LLC
Excellent! As before, his work is so professional. The floor is perfect, the bench is wonderful and I especially love the tile in our front hallway. He had no problem at all cutting the tiles to create an interesting pattern instead of just doing a normal horizontal lay-out. He will do exactly as you ask but if you ask his opinion, he has plenty of experience and will gladly give you an opinion or a suggestion. We're already planning on having him back next year to redo our main bathroom.

    Tile By Kyle LLC
We found Kyle through Angie's List. There weren't many reviews yet but the ones that were there were extremely positive. Thank goodness we did!!! This guy is truly one of the best workmen ever. He returned our original phone call promptly, showed up quickly and gave us an extremely fair estimate (which ended up being correct), and kept us informed as to when he'd be able to start. When he began, he showed up on time, stayed until his work was done each day and returned on time the next day. Day 1, he laid down drop cloths to protect our carpeting and then proceeded to completely gut the original shower and haul all of the material out. Day 2, he did all of the structural work and by the end of Day 3, he finished the tiling, grouting, etc., installing the new shower head and handle and the new shower door. He must have spent an hour alone just making sure everything was well sealed. The results are amazing! Neat as can be!! He is also a perfectionist. Everything had to be perfectly level and centered and he always checked with us to be sure that he was doing what we wanted instead of what he thought--for example the height of the new shower head or where on the shower wall we wanted the towel bar and the inserts. I have never seen a harder, more professional worker. And like another reviewer said, I'd trust this guy with my house keys. He's just that type of person. We already are planning on having him come back to do the same redo in our main bathroom (which will be a tub/shower combo instead of just a small shower) as well as replacing the tile in our front entryway. I only have one regret and that is not discussing adding a small built in seat. Because I didn't know how good he was, I had decided to just purchase a corner teak stool from Bed, Bath & Beyond. What I would have loved was a fold-down seat but that would need to have reinforcement behind it to support any weight. After he was done, I mentioned my idea to him and he agreed it was too late for the fold-down one but he could very easily install a "Better-Bench", which CAN be installed in an existing shower. The teak triangle shaped stool should be delivered in the next few days and once we see how that looks, we will decide between that or having him return to add that built in "Better Bench". He said that would be quick and easy for him to add.

    R & L Carpet, Upholstery & Restoration
Color around tub was a lot lighter than the rest. My husband said they thought it would get darker but it hasn't.Where they caulked by shower I did not like the way they ran the beads about an inch up the tile grout. And the countertop was a nice fine bead before and the removed it and made a wide one. The fine bead looked much better.

I would like to start by saying, the kitchen looks great. It is beautiful and we have had tons of compliments on how it turned out. However, the process getting to that point was extremely frustrating and difficult. The project was supposed to last 6 weeks and it took almost 4 months. Many of the subcontractors did low quality work that had to be redone throughout the entire project. Wrong sizes of cabinets were ordered and had to be reordered. Cabinets were dented/scratched during install that also had to be reordered (some were never reordered and we are just living with it). Communication was poor throughout the project, and the owner, Bryce, was not only rude, but was not true to his word on multiple occasions. Our project manager Nate was not without flaw, as his communication could have been better as well, but he was at least gracious and apologetic when he made a mistake. This was very different from Bryce, the owner who tried to blame anyone but himself. Nate worked hard to make the flaws and mistakes right again, Bryce on the other hand, alluded that we were too picky and that we should be okay with the low quality of work. In the end, when they continued to not complete all of the punch list items, my husband and I finally started fixing the rest of the items ourselves. This all occurred between July and October of 2015. After completion of the project, our dishwasher never seemed to work quite right. We called multiple times and finally a GE repair person came to take a look in February. What he discovered was that Cabinet Clad had hooked the dishwasher up to the cold water line instead of hot, causing the dishwasher to trip a fuse. We called Bryce to have him send someone out to fix it. He said he would, but that WE would have to pay for it (so don't believe the one year warranty stated on their website.) Bryce then asked to speak with the GE repair man that was there so that he could understand the issue. When he got off the phone, the repairman said he was extremely condescending to him. This, to a complete stranger! Nate was then scheduled to come out first thing Friday morning. He didn't show and rescheduled for Saturday at noon. I cancelled my plans Saturday to be there for his appointment and he did not show again and also did not call or text to say he wasn't coming or to reschedule. I text him twice with no response. Frustrated, we called someone else to come over and fix the issue costing us more money. (Again, don't believe the warranty they claim.) During the process of fixing it, it was discovered that Cabinet Clad also hooked up the water lines to our kitchen heater incorrectly and it has been dripping water under our kitchen floor, into our basement, and through the walls since installation. After a month of chasing Bryce again to fix the issue, the leak, new tile, and new drywall was finally fixed. I would like to reiterate that the finished product looks great, but it was quite a headache to get to the finish.

    Handyman Barrett LLC
Back in July I was going to have my master bathroom redone I contacted Philip to install an Onyx shower system and tile the floor. I wound up going with another supposed "top rated" contractor and they did a terrible job. Trust me Hire Barrett it may take him a little longer to complete the job but he does an excellent job. I wish I had.

    KC Home Solutions, LLC
After watching so many TV shows on nightmare contractors, I came into the partnership with a unfair distrust.  I liked the KC Home Solutions crew from the moment we started talking to them at the home show. I had been planning this basement finish for so long, and there were many emotional ties that were part of the project. I was so afraid of being another nightmare story, It took about 2 weeks into the actual work that I finally got these guys know their stuff.
As stressed out as I might get through out the process, I want to say every time I talked to Nick the owner, I felt better and knew we had made the right choice.
Framing for the entire space was done in a day and half and the owner Nick was on site to start. The electricians were awesome and gave me everything I asked for. The plumbing was laid out all in one day and that included breaking the cement floor.
I would hire Nick and KC Home Solutions again.
That being said I think like any construction project there are always challenges.  We finished about 1400 sq ft of an 1800 sq ft basement so it was no tiny project. Every subcontractor or vendor  KC Home Solutions use are top notch. Wood work, tile,  flooring, electricians, and plumbers. Basically any trade that shows up with a real logo on their vehicle is going to produce good stuff.   Where I think we ran into challenges were with drywall and painters. They are less skilled labor and more manual labor. I have checked this with other contractors... it is really hard to find a good long lasting crew for this kind of work.  We felt they rushed and were a bit sloppy so extra work needed to be done to finish it right.  The thing about it is that Nick and his guys they will fix any issue and make it right.   One other criticism that we have is that the time management for our project seemed to be challenging and control of the timeline could have been managed better, we went about 2-3 weeks longer than we should have.  As frustrating as that was, we stayed in contact with Nick and everyone involved, our got basement finished and it is amazing.  I trust Nick and would have him back.   We recently had to replace a kitchen faucet, and we contacted Nick so we could use the plumbers who did our basement work.
Something different about our job is that I had almost 95%  designed and selected prior to hiring KC Home Solutions.   This included the floor plan and layout. When it was all finished it looked almost exactly like what I had spent 3 years dreaming and designing.  When my family sees the completed pictures they say it perfectly matches what I had attempted to describe to them.  I think this is a positive for Nick and his crew, as they listened, and were able take what I dreamed up on paper and made it a reality.
Even though I brought the design to my project, I  believe they have a good design aesthetic and if you don't have anything designed or you just have a general outline of what you want, this crew can give you something you never expected and you will be thoroughly happy with the finished results.
I have one last tip, it is good to have ideas or general thoughts on color and such, but I recommend visiting their vendors for tile, fixtures and such to see what they have before you get yourself committed to something you saw on Houzz or at a big box store.KC Home Solutions uses Vendors that have quality products that you will want to use and it makes the process quicker and easier.   One caveat to that, unless it truly is an inferior product (and Nick will take the time to explain why he doesn't recommend using it) they will incorporate anything you want.

    BR Carpet Company
Work was done mostly by a two man crew.  Most of the work was in the prep  to install the tile.  They did a good job on prep except for one high spot they didn't seem to know how to deal with.  On the actual installation, it came out nice - eventually.  The grout didn't want to stick and blend correctly between the tile.  The leadman came back the day after the installation and touched up most of the bad spots after a phone call to BR.  He left a bucket of grout so I could touch it up later as well.  I touched it up one more time two days later and am very happy with the end result.    I still don't understand why the grout was so hard to get to apply correctly,  so I'm not sure whether BR can be blamed for the issue or if it was actually a manufacturing glitch in the grout.
