Electrician reviews in Bloomfield

    Mister Sparky Electric

The electricity suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from several points in my house. Two outlets in the living room were dead, the "can" lights in the ceiling on one side of the office wouldn't turn on and most distressing of all, my dining room chandelier didn't work. I had purchased an Angie's List "Big Deal" package and I called All-Phase.

The man showed up on time and was very nice. He tested everything, looked at the wiring in the basement and inspected the fuse box. He discussed the price for the repairs with me in advance and when I agreed, he called in two other workers and they ran some new wiring up from the basement to the first floor office. This restored power to the office lights, the closet light and the outlets.

As for the dining room chandelier, he told me that I would probably need to tear out the ceiling and one wall to determine the source of the problem, so that project was tabled. He also noted that I had rust in my fuse box and would probably need to replace it if I ever put my house on the market. He estimated the replacement cost at approximately $800.

About a year later, I did decide to sell my house and I called a different electrician to explore the dining room chandelier situation. He poked around in the basement and reconnected a loose wire which restored the chandelier to full power. I spent several months with a dark dining room, fretting about tearing out the wall/ceiling or perhaps removing the chandelier all together and capping off the ceiling fixture. . . ?

The second electrician also checked the fuse box and located a tiny hole on the outside of the house where a water droplet was occasionally running down the conduit. He applied a dab of caulk and the problem was solved.

As I said, the man from All Phase was a nice enough fellow. I don't think he overcharged me for the work he did, but I don't think he was very interested in doing his level best to fix my problems.
