    Kevin Turner Painting
Kevin was FANTASTIC. Excellent service and very HONEST. We had a total change color on our house, including trim and doors.. He and his crew prepped the house by power washer and scraping, our house was very bad and the prep work was fantastic. He also re did our stairs on the back door. He and his crew are very talented. He and his went the extra mile in every way. Our house took longer than he anticipated but he did not rush to get it done. He is a perfectionist. His crew also painted some tables and pedestal's in our back yard for our patio, a nice touch and surprise!
If you need your house painted call Kevin, he may be a little more expensive but worth every penny.
Thank you Kevin and your staff!

    KC Home Solutions, LLC
We obtained three bids for our basement project and selected KC Home Solutions because of their great mix of personability and professionalism. From the first visit with Nick Shepard (president) I had a great feeling about the project. He understood what we wanted to do and offered some great additional ideas/insights that made the finished project even better. He totally respected our budget and was willing to work with me on modifications to the bid several times and provide detailed breakdown of the cost of different options before we even signed a contract. It was clear from the start that they really wanted our business and held client satisfaction as a top priority.
The job started on time and I can't say enough good things about all the guys who were in and out of our house for the 10 week span. The core KC Home Solutions crew (Nick S., Jason, Pedro, Nick C.) are a great group of guys. Very respectful of our home and also really friendly when my kids would ask questions or want to check out the progress. Its clear that they are all family guys and I loved that! They cleaned up each evening way beyond what I expected.
Jason was our project manager and was readily reachable by phone/text/email for any questions or concerns. It's a growing company and I could tell that they are busy with several projects, however, I never felt neglected or left out of the loop, and the work was completed at a very efficient pace. He has a great attention to detail and quality and I felt confident that things were getting done the right way. My dad is a home builder/carpenter and I admittedly have high standards, and these guys did not disappoint. (My dad approves of the job, too!)
The subcontractors by and large did great work as well. Any minor issues needing attention or touch up were addressed efficiently. We experienced only one big 'hiccup' with the project, due to an incorrect order placed by the tile supplier that resulted in the wrong color of grout being installed. KCHS worked to address the mistake and find a resolution that was favorable to us, and I always felt like they were in our corner when there was some push back from the supplier. In the end the grout was stained the darker color we had initially chosen, and it looks great.
Our top priority for finishing our basement was to give it the look and feel of the main level of our home. We have a lot of nice trim work and finishes that I wanted to replicate as closely as possibly downstairs. We envisioned this as more of an expansion of our home vs. just 'extra' room or a rec room tucked away in the basement. KC Home Solutions went above and beyond to make sure our vision was achieved. We've hosted some get-togethers since completion and several people have commented on how nice the trim and other details look downstairs. We are beyond happy with how it turned out! I would definitely recommend KC Home solutions and we very likely will hire them again in the coming years for future remodeling projects in our home.

    North Star Remodel LLC
I don?t like writing a review like this. It gives me no pleasure at all. But I?m compelled to do so because of my deep dissatisfaction with Rees Michael and his company, North Star Remodel LLC in Kansas City.
On March 18, 2013, my wife, Dani James, and I contracted with Mr. Michael to replace the existing cedar decking system and stairs at our home with a new, polymer system supplied by McCray Lumber. The deck sits about 15 feet above ground level.
After Mr. Michael completed replacing the decking and stairs, a painter we had hired noticed what seemed like a substantial amount of wood rot in the deck?s existing support structure. It seemed obvious to us that Mr. Michael had failed to notice and include replacing these rotted members, which seemed critical to the deck?s stability. After this was called to his attention, he admitted to having failed to respect our investment and he then proposed to complete the overlooked aspects of the job at his labor and material cost. As part of the proposal, he also agreed to fabricate and install a gate, not included with the decking system, at the top of the stairs. We agreed, but were very surprised when the final bill more than doubled his original estimate for the entire job, but we paid it, believing all the work was done properly.
As time has passed, we?ve looked more closely at Mr. Michael and North Star?s work. Our issues are these:
The craftsmanship Mr. Michael and his team brought to this job is not satisfactory. Mitered joints that don?t meet. Untrimmed decking edges. Stair and deck hand rails that don?t run straight. I have sent Mr. Michaels photos of these craftsmanship issues, but he has not acknowledged any responsibility for them. In fact, he blamed the decking system itself. In my opinion, these are failures that should never be made by someone who claims to be a Master Builder/Master Carpenter. (www.houzz.com)
Regarding the gate Mr. Michael agreed to fabricate and install at the top of the deck stairs, his first attempt at this was installed crooked and the mitered corners quickly came apart. One of his workmen ultimately retrieved the faulty gate, but today it is August 13, 2013 and he has failed, after several promises beginning on May 22, to rebuild and install the agreed-upon replacement.
Perhaps the most frustrating thing in dealing with Mr. Michael has been his failure to return calls in our efforts to resolve this situation, particularly regarding the gate. Only when I advised him I had written this review and intended to share it online did Mr. Michael respond by threatening a lawsuit if I did so.
I?m not a carpenter, just a customer. But in my opinion, Mr. Michael and North Star Remodeling did a very poor job in the areas of carpentry, estimating, follow through, and communication.

I am quite satisfied with the work and will call Jeff again for other jobs.  I felt that his pricing was fair and reasonable, and he took care and took the time to make sure the work was done right.

North Star Homes & Development LLC
David made good on everything which needed to be corrected during the renovation process. Overall, the outcome was very good. One piece of advice is to know that most items will be contractor grade. This means, for example, that custom made cabinets probably won’t be stained and finished. Also, make sure the contractor’s vendors list is up-to-date, because mine was not.
