    Uplift Guided Fitness

    I joined UpLift on July 6th and I'm now in my fourth month of membership at UpLift and it's still one of the best decisions I've ever made. Even though I had never worked out before, UpLift has made working out a part of my routine at least four days per week. It's not something that I even think about anymore, it's just something that I do, just like going to work.
    Here are a few reasons that have made it easy for me to bring fitness into my life through UpLift:
    1). The personal/support component. UpLift is a relatively small gym in size, but not in support. I wasn't expecting a gym experience to become so personal and supportive. The owners and trainers truly do get to know you and your goals. There is always a trainer on the floor available for questions or support. They give you as much support as you need. Most days I don't have any questions or concerns but they still check in to see how things are going or maybe just to say hello. I appreciate that. Even a trainer saying hello and knowing my name makes me be more accountable for what I am doing during my workouts. It makes me want to try my hardest and do my best. It enjoy being part of a community of like-minded women with similar goals.  
    2). The variety. As part of UpLift membership is a personal strength training routine. I had never lifted weights in my life and was incredibly nervous and intimidated about this, but I have really enjoyed it. I have to honestly say that each new routine has totally kicked my butt, but my as my body gets stronger and more toned it is definitely worth it. Each routine is about 10-12 different exercises of which you are encouraged to do three sets of . A new strength training routine is encouraged after every 12 strength training days at the gym. It seemed overwhelming to me at first, but as a planner and lover of routine I like knowing what I am going to be doing at the gym on my strength training days and I enjoy the variety of the routines every month. There are also plenty of cardio machines for cardio training and exercise classes offered to add even more variety.
    As someone who had not made health and fitness a part of their life prior to July, I would recommend UpLift as a place to start the journey. The people at UpLift make me want to reach my goals. Everyone at UpLift, but especially Jill, Chris, and Natalie, have been extremely supportive and encouraging. I now can't imagine not working out and I definitely could have never thought that in my wildest dreams four months ago!

    I love the fact that this gym/studio consists of all women - makes you feel very comfortable while working out. Also like that their trainers are on the floor during normal business hours and can help me tweak moves, add moves and even walk through an entire workout with me. Plus, I am still able to take yoga, pilates and barre with their live and on-demand classes and not have a separate gym membership.

    Ken showed up on time and serviced our treadmill as he predicted.  He had a breath of knowledge of treadmills and was able to diagnose and service quickly.  He took the time to give us tips on how to keep our machine in working order and not have repairs again.  I would highly recommend him.

    They have a lot of classes for seniors which we are. They have a lot of equipment. I go to the water exercise class. They have a lot of social activities which we are not involved in. My husband works on a lot of the equipment. They have a lot to offer. They cover all the age groups and there are programs for young people. They have day care. A lot of grandpas and grandmas bring the young people there. They have swimming classes for the younger people and they have camps for the younger people. It is an all family thing so there are a lot of good things. It is hooked right next to the library so you can go exercise and then go to the library. You can stay for coffee and play cards if you want. There is always a teacher available. You can get a personal trainer. There are always a lot of instructors.

    Both trainers that we work with are excellent. I work with Sarah, and she is positive and encouraging. My daughter works with Laurie, and Laurie manages to get this teenage girl happy about her workout.

    The staff is amazing. The facility is spacious and very clean. They have modern and up to date equipments. The repairs are taken care of in a very timely manner. The trainers are very knowledgeable.

    Life Time Fitness Woodbury
    I was with Lifetime for over 16 years.  After moving north of Stillwater I was forced to change clubs to the Woodbury facility from the Lakeville gym.  What a mess this gym is.  The gym is over crowded, dirty and the staff is not very friendly.  Lifetime charges over $70 for a couples membership.  The final straw for me was when I finished my work out, went into the locker room and three gentlemen had had their lockers broken into and all their possessions taken.  After checking the parking lot to be sure their cars were not there I left that gym and never returned.  After 16 years as a member I was not even called to review why I had cancelled!  That was disappointing.  I will never go back to Lifetime.  There are far better options out there.  Do yourself a favor and check them out first.

    We joined the YMCA because they have a military membership. My husband is in the military and so the military will pay for our membership. He has to be active duty which he is and that is a paid membership if you are on title 10 active duty orders. They have trainers on site which I really appreciate when I'm trying to use a piece of equipment that I might not be familiar with. The trainers are more than willing to come over and show you how to use the equipment or you know say I've been riding the same type of equipment for a month and I just don't feel like I'm getting a good workout or a good burn and then they will come over and then you can ask them what can I do to increase this workout. They just all are very knowledgeable and willing to help.

    I cannot say enough good about Rachel Larson.  She is a registered dietician, and a personal trainer.  Her knowledge and education in personal training goes beyond anyone I have ever met, and she continuously takes on new training to help meet her clients needs.   She is trained in yoga (including for pregnancy and the elderly, and other specialties), pilates, boxing, corrective and rehabilitative therapies, and a host of other things.  I have now trained with her twice a week for three years.  She has worked around knee injuries, digestive disorders, and all sorts of things I've thrown at her.  She always finds a way to work me out hard and make it a ball the whole time.  I am mentally healthier, physically much stronger, and eating better.  Having an appt scheduled with her kept me going.

    I've trained with her at two facilities.  I now train with her at Ways to Wellness, a part of Healtheast Hospital.  It is a large bright airy facility with a pleasant staff.

    Of all the reports I have ever submitted on Angie's List, this recommendation would be my very strongest.  This woman is amazing!

    I contacted them before signing up to ask about the trip I had to make for the Christmas that I have to miss 10 days or so and the owner was very willing to work with my schedule and granted another 2 weeks so that I don't miss any workout dates which I thought was extremely nice escpecially because I got a great deal for the Black Friday. They are personable and really listen to your problem in terms of what you want to achieve through workout. They also have a child care for 9:30 class so that I can leave my 2 year old while working out. Not like other big fitness center, the workout room is right next to the childcare which helps my boy to feel less nervous and also there are only a few kids at a time, it's not as chaotic which means less germs to take care of. What I like the most about is that it's a no brainer. You just show up whatever time class you want to be and follow the instructor then you are done in one hour getting every muscle worked out-and it works! It's been about 4 weeks and I started seeing the difference especially the middle area maybe because that's the area I want to improve the most after having 2 kids. There are quite a few instructors (I have met only 4) and they are all very different and that makes it more fun. I realized that you don?t need that many workout machines or different classes to work your body after starting Jazzercise. If you can get it done in one hour and they change the routine for you, what else do you need? It?s really fun. It?s a whole bunch of ladies, age from 20s to 80s just there to keep the energy going and have fun. It?s a very supportive group of people and feels like a family. I also like their sound system-it?s not as noisy as big clubs because the ceiling is not as high. They always double check with you if it?s loud enough or too loud. I have done weight training, a member of a bigger fitness club, Pilates, and working out at home but this is the best I have done because it makes me want to come and work out. I highly recommend to anyone.
