    Office is always friendly and clean. Interaction with Dr. Fish is always pleasant. His hygienist Amy is wonderful, and does great work. I started seeing Dr. Fish after recommendations from several people when I worked at the local hospital so most all the recommendations were from other health care providers and their families. My appointment was for 9am. I arrived a little early and only waited a couple minutes before I was taken back to the exam room. After some quick conversation about life and how everything is going Amy went to work cleaning my teeth. They use an ultrasonic pick as opposed to the old style 'torture chamber' metal ones I grew up with. This has seemed much less painful than I remember dealing with as a youth/young adult. The cleaning is thorough and I'm always happy with how my teeth look afterward. Dr. Fish checked everything afterward, and discussed any issues he noticed. All were minor, and nothing needing attention (no cavities!). Once a year they do x-rays of my teeth, but this appointment was not one of them. The use a modern x-ray machine which brings the images up on the computer screen in front of the tech and the dentist. Dr. then goes over things in front of me and points out anything amiss. As I said though, this was not one of those visits. After my cleaning and checkup they give me another appointment in 6 months. I should point out that they are very good about 'reminder' calls a day or two ahead of the your appointment. And I have never had a problem rescheduling. All in all an excellent dental office and I have nothing but praise for them. They've earned it!

    Dr. Anderson is an excellent dentist. In fact, he is everything I think a dentist should be. Skilled - gentle - fixed my teeth with no to minimal discomfort. He is kind, patient, enjoyable to talk to, communicates very well. Takes time to explain things, and is pro-active in his patients care. He is simply - about the best you can find, in my estimation. Same for the entire staff.

    From the moment I called the dental office to see if they were taking new patients, Tammy (the front office staff member) made me feel welcomed. She assisted me with having my records sent over from the other office and scheduled my cleaning. When I met with Abby, the dental hygienist who would be doing my 6 month cleaning, she asked me why I switched. I told her that my previous cleaning not only left me in tears, but the previous hygienist talked down to me. Abby not only got the job done, but also talked me through better brushing and flossing techniques. She also suggested that I come back in for my cleanings on a 4 month cycle rather than 6 months. She admitted that insurance may require me to pay for that 3rd cleaning, but thought it would be more comfortable for me in the long run. I appreciated her honesty (re: insurance) and am happy to pay for 1 cleaning a year if it means I'll have a more comfortable visit. When Dr. Olness came in to meet with me for my well-check up he welcomed me to the office and had a great sense of humor. He was professional, yet caring. Upon his exam, he indicated that I needed a new filling due to a cavity. It was in a tooth with an already existing filling. When I came back to have the filling done, I was able to use nitrous oxide (Laughing Gas) to calm my nerves. After the filling was completed, I noticed that it didn't feel quite right. I waited a few days to let it and quot;settleand quot; and when it still didn't feel right, I made an appointment. Dr. Olness welcomed me and didn't make me feel like I was being a nuisance. He was able to sand down the filling and it hasn't been an issue since.

    I see Dr. Winslow or her husband, Dr. Feil, for routine dental care. This visit was to determine what caused my tooth pain. She was agreeable to wait and watch the tooth rather than replace a filling that and quot;mightand quot; be causing the pain. She's very professional and willing to discuss options rather than rush into any major dental work. The office staff is very friendly and tries to be accommodating in scheduling.

    I forgot my credit card so was worried about receiving treatment but the receptionist just laughed and said, and quot;Don't worry about it. We will take care of it later.and quot; I know some dentists require at least some payment BEFORE they will do anything this major so I was concerned that I might need to reschedule. Grand Rapids Dental folk treat patients like family. They really know how to put you at ease. I did not need to wait at all. I was ushered into the back office and the entire procedure was explained with patience and SMILES. They must have sensed that I still get very nervous when I think about drills and dental work so Dr. Hagley went out of his way to talk me through everything and even praise me that I was doing great. Dr. Hagley gave me new pointers today: breathe and keep your eyes open to keep that optic nerve busy to block out what was about to take place in my mouth. Simple things, I know but Dr. Hagley cares enough to talk me through this, as he has many other times. The ENTIRE procedure was PAINLESS and I actually began to relax in the dental office! He was able to create the crown right there in his office so I do not have to come back for another appointment. Despite all that uppity state-of-the-art equipment, the fine folks at Grand Rapids Dental Care still remember how to treat folks--with good old-fashioned respect and compassion:)

    It was extremely easy to setup the appointment and get a place in their busy schedule. The visit was fantastic. My appointment was at 8am; I was welcomed into the office at 7:50, filled out my first time visit patient information online with ease (light-years better than the old paper and pen version), and the dentist walked me back to the chair promptly at 8am. Zach (Dr. Hazelton) quickly noted that I would requir a filling for my broken tooth. Without leaving my chair they took a digital x-ray (a much less intrusive process than the old x-rays -- a small camera was stretched out of a neighboring closet on an arm and the photos were showed to me on a screen in above the chair a minute later). The photo confirmed that a filling would suffice and the procedure was underway. I went in with a broken tooth and left 30 minutes later with everything repaired. I am used to going to a doctor with a problem, getting an examination, and then needing to schedule a follow-up appointment a week or more later for the remedy. This was an in, repair, and out visit that was just what you would want it to be. Thank you Zach and staff! Randy
