    The Masons Touch
It took a while to get on the schedule but we were not in a hurry.  Once scheduled, work was completed on time.  Great quality work.  Would definitely use again. The Mason's Touch was able to identify the reason the wall was caving in (was incorrectly installed by our builder)- this issue was resolved with correct installation methods.

We did not choose to go with Standard but only because the service they provide was more than we needed. My reason for writing this review is after surveying our situation and what we might do to correct it the representative was forthright and honest that the minimum work they would do would be more than we needed. He thanked us for the opportunity to come out for the estimate, and gave us many thoughts on how to proceed with our issue. It's refreshing to have a vendor be so completely honest even when they know that they will not get the job. High marks in my book for that!

This was a great choice. Seth came out and did an estimate for us and gave us many options, yet was very honest and pointed out which options would be best to consider, which were overkill for our problem, and which might not be enough. He was very fair in all his discussions and did not try any upselling to get us to do more than we needed. Seth providied us with an estimate right on site and it only took about 20 minutes. Upon deciding to do the work Seth was very accomodating to our needs so we could have someone home. The crew that did the work was actually early, and only took about 1/3 of the time they thought it might. The area they completed the work was spotless when they were done. We are very pleased we went with Seth and Gardner and would HIGHLY recommend their services to others who have basement water issues. Being very wary of hiring contractors and concerned about getting shafted Gardner proved to be the complete opposite. Fair, reasonably priced, punctual, great communication, polite and conscientious workers, we have nothing but complete happiness with teh job. Thanks you Seth, and thank you Gardner for being so AWESOME!

He indicated replacing approximately 18 feet of drainfield as a resolution. Additionally, he suggested installing all new window wells, then raising the yard to increase the pitch/slope away from the house.  Doing so would mean tearing up the carpet, cutting out and removing the concrete perimeter, putting in new drainfield, etc., etc.  We've lived here over 28 years, had drainfield installed before we ever finished off the basement and never had a problem with water in our basement before this crazy last spring.  I asked about sending a camera to review the existing drainfield; he shrugged off this request and never really answered whether that was possible.
Later, other professionals (roofers) indicated that gutters were needed.  Also indicated that window wells and changing ground pitch would be nice but probably not necessary.  Their reasoning was that the water came into the basement because it was downpouring in Feb-Mar and the ground was still frozen -- the water took the path of least resistance.
Time will tell whether we've done the right thing.

    Beaver Basement Water Control
Jim Cotten, the owner, returned my first call within a half-hour. He came out that evening and listened carefully to what had been going on in our basement with water seeping in on 2 sides (where the floor and wall meet) during heavy rains and usually with each spring snow thaw.  He also looked at an area outside where a cement patio up against our house had pulled away and we thought water might be getting in there.  Jim recommended installing their "Wet Shield" (under the floor)  for our particular problem, with no need to replace all the existing drain tile or our sump pump that he believed was working just fine. (Another contractor we called wanted to replace everything -- at a much higher price.)
Excellent at explaining how the process would go, he left a sample of the Wet Shield, with no pressure to sign anything, and dropped off an estimate the next morning. About a month later we made the decision to go ahead. Jim came out right away and answered the questions we had, and within a week he came out with 2 helpers and got the job done in exactly the time he had estimated.
They arrived on time and covered doorways and furniture that was too large to remove from the area. After removing the cement at the perimeter (about a 12" wide section along 2 walls totaling about 52 feet) we could see the existing drain tile. They poured water in and sure enough, the drain tile and sump were working just as he thought! Next they drilled holes in the cement blocks so the water could actually get to the drain tile; then installed the Wet Shield, new rocks for drainage, and came back the next day to pour the new cement to finish the floor. They were efficient, explained things to us as they worked, cleaned up and hauled away any mess. Until next spring when we do a bit of landscaping work, Jim was nice enough to caulk up the problem area outside to prevent any water from coming in, and didn't charge us for that.
Jim and his crew were friendly, honest, and there were no surprises or add-ons to the original estimate. We are looking forward to no more squishy, wet carpet, and to working with Jim again in the future. This is a great company!

Because of an unexpected need to purchase a vehicle right after we received the estimate from Gardner Construction, we were not able to use their services this fall. We did hire another contractor to solve our wet basement problem only because the price was a little less; but we're still hoping to use Gardner next spring for some of the outside work that needs to be done. I would recommend this company based on meeting one of the owners and on the great reviews they receive from Angie's List!

We were very satisfied from start to finish.  Seth came out and assessed the water problem we were having in our basement.  He recommended new window wells that were a better fit, and repairing our grade.  We have since had two huge rainfalls, without any problems.  Seth also noticed our garage foundation was showing signs of deterioration from road salt.  He made a recommendation to repair it.  After researching, we agreed, and had them do the work.

The drain tiling appears to be working fine.  However, I needed them to testify to the reason of why I had to have it drain tiled.  They were unable to do this for me, and said that they had other business to take care of, and kind of left me high and dry.

I have to tell you how great this company is.  They came out for an estimate within 24 hours of our phone call.    The employee who came out was the most honest, trustworthy contractor who we have ever dealt with.  We have had out 6 companies who of which no 2 companies agreed on what to do.  That is why I called this company.  They told us we did not have to fix one of the problems.  We had water in our concrete block on the base and they told us to call an insulator and that's what we did.  They were correct.  That issue was not a big deal.  The other corner of our house was leaking and they said they see this all the time.  It is where the concrete block and the wood of the house come together.  They suggested my husband dig up the side and showed us exactly where to seal.  They saved us thousands of dollars.  Other companies tried to sell us a drain tile system.  Landscaping.  On and On.  They could have done the same.  Instead they were honest and real.  They helped solve our problems with out giving a dime to there company.  Like old time companies!!  I have to say Thank You and we will refer you and use you in the future if we need.  THANK YOU.  Janelle and Dan Ruiz

    Beaver Basement Water Control
Our carpeted basement was flooded by a 5 inches in a hour rain, when the old drainage system and sump could not keep up with the influx of water because too few drain holes were drilled too high, and led to the drainage field with narrow plastic hose.  Jim explained fully what the likely problem was, and his crew came in, broke out about a foot of the floor along the block wall, installed the proper drain holes and the PVC  wet-shield, thoroughly tested the drainage to the sump pump with a water hose, then replaced and finished the concrete.  They did an excellent job, cleaned up the basement, and when we got another heavy rain a few days later, I was pleased to hear the sump pump working, and watch the dry basement floor.
