    Northrup Remodeling, Roofing & Exteriors
We worked with Ron Burgess from Northrup as our project manager from start to finish and our project was very well run. We originally solicited bids from multiple contractors and Ron quickly differentiated himself. He was knowledgeable, prompt and accurate with his estimate, and most importantly honest with us about the work we wanted to have done. He helped us to understand the house better and he suggested some smart revisions to our plans that helped us constrain the costs of the project. He kicked off the project when he said he would, kept it on schedule throughout, and he never surprised us with hidden costs. During the project we made several revisions to our plans, and he made the change request process really easy and always gave us fair and transparent pricing. The quality of the work was great, and we're extremely happy with how everything turned out. We'd absolutely hire Northrup again.

    FBC Remodel
The FBC was super-professional and polished through the sales process. They make a big deal of offering "free design" before giving a quote. I will say that the free "design" service is a pretty junior team member with NO design background playing around with CAD software--so don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. However, that wasn't a big deal for our project. The major issue we encountered was that FBC has a functional project minimum of $50K, even though they say that they don't. When I first called them, I specifically asked if they had a project minimum and they insisted that they didn't. However, when they first gave us a quote for the project, it was ~$50K, of which ~$30K was for converting our half-bath to a 3/4 bath. In that meeting, my husband and I decided the bathroom part of the project simply wasn't worth it, and told them to take that out of scope. In the follow up meeting, the quote still ended up being $50K--because they shoved in a bunch of overpriced things we didn't need or want, and obfuscated the add-ons in jargon written up all over the blue-prints. Whenever I asked what a phrase meant, I uncovered another hidden cost. When we told them that we were surprised they were still at $50K even when we took the $30K bath out of scope they told us they would research some things and get back to us...and then never did. They simply went radio silent and did not respond to us further. So, they basically wasted (a lot) of our time and theirs because they can't own up to the fact that they have a project minimum.

    Lowell Russell Concrete
The project was complicated, with footings, foundation walls, and brick and a special stone facing, all having to be very precisely installed, and then a stamped and colored concrete sidewalk installed.  The work was started in the fall, and then delayed over the winter.  The work was finished the following spring, later than we had requested. In the end we are very happy. The workmanship was excellent.

Kev came on time. He was respectful of my property and took great pains to avoid injury to my lawn.
He was quick and efficient--and gave very helpful advice on how to proceed with future steps in my DIY project.
He is very pleasant and seems more interested in doing a good job for me than in making money from the project.
He is a delightful man, who does top quality work at a reasonable price--that's hard to find!

Kev returned my phone call within a day and came out to the house on time as scheduled, he offered to to the work that week end but we were coordinating with some additional concrete work for a driveway apron so we scheduled his visit three weeks later. After three weeks passed I called  to remind him an we scheduled his work, he showed up as promised and did a great job.

Fantastic--after getting bids from a total of 5 companies, Mark was by far the most responsive, professional, and his bid came in the lowest.  He was up front, there was no drama or surprises, he responded to calls and emails quickly and succinctly.  He showed up when he said he would.  His crew worked rain (down pour) and shine and even finished a little ahead of schedule.  Mark kept me in the loop all the way through and the final product looks wonderful. We will absolutely use Mark again for future concrete projects and would recommend him to anyone.

    Quality Basement Waterproofing
Called Dick because he had installed sump pumps at our house for the previous owners.  Called to have Dick come out and look at an issue we were having with water in our basement.  Spoke with Dick on Sunday evening June 1st.  He said that he could come out that evening.  Great.  Hours passed and did not hear from him.  We called to get an updated and he informed us that he was too busy and not able to make it out.  Fine.  Our basement wasn't flooded at that time, just some wet carpet.  I told him it wasnt an emergency so we could reschedule.  Did not hear back from him.  Called on 6/3 Tues evening to reschedule and Dick told me that he was able to come out until Sat and that he would not be able to complete any work until July.   We I told him that I was going to have to call someone else to see if I could get anyone out early.  He told me that he wasnt going to get into a bidding war and then hung up on me.

It went well. Travis called us within a couple of days. Unfortunately he could not do the work till the beginning of July. We needed this done sooner. He instructed us on how to receive a refund from Angie's list. We are sorry this didn't work out.

    Standard Water Control Systems Inc
Painlessly.  Very professional approach.  The person who gave us a bid provided us with warranty info, along with an entire folder of related info.  After installation, we achieved a lien waver as well as a radon measuring kit.  They completely cleaned up after the job.
