The Handyman Can!!! Inc
Business Description: When I was 5, mom caught me taking apart a watch and a toaster at my grand parents home. She scolded me, but grandpa insisted that she let me be. I fixed the toaster. The watch, well it didn’t work in the first place. When I was 15, my mom hired my cousin Jim, 10 years my senior, to finish our basement. Being an ever curious young man, I asked Jim questions and he put me to work alongside him. We worked a night or two a week for 2 years. Then Jim became busy raising his own family and work came to a standstill. Mom wanted the basement finished for my older sisters’ graduation. Jim asserted that I could finish it. I wasn’t so sure, but he said he’d tell me what to do over the phone. He did, and the job was completed on time, much to the delight and pride of mom. In 1977 I purchased and lived in a duplex. I graduated Vo-Tech in 1971 with "Outstanding Student" and "Perfect Attendance" Awards. In 1980 I purchased and live in one side of a double bungalow. The ensuing 21 years of pulling permits, passing city, fire department and HUD inspections made for an excellent background to performing construction, installation and repairs properly. From 1972 to 1983 I worked for Gould Battery (also known as GNB). I worked in engineering at the Mendota Heights facility. I was a product and applications technologist, a fancy title, but it contributed to my handyman skills by requiring problem solving. Some of the engineers owned duplexes and we would problem solve together at lunchtime. Hence, many of the jobs I got, challenge me to solve a problem along the way to making the repair, installation. In 1995 I began my Handyman business. In 1997 I sold my duplexes. In 1998, I got my license and became incorporated. Today I enjoy listening for and producing my customers intended results. “Being Of Service - I Love It” John Thomas CEO, The Handyman Can®!!! Inc. ABuilding Renewal IncI recently had an extensive repair done by Building Renewal. I have had work done with them previously and was very satisfied. They arrived when they said they would, they were very careful with surrounding areas, and very pleasant. They answered all my questions and explained what needed to be done and why. At the end of the day, everything was cleaned up. When the repair was completed, I was very satisfied! I will always call Building Renewal!- Betty C.

ASILVERSAW INCThrough out the entire experience Kurt was constantly ensuring I understood exactly what he was doing and why. When the materials were delivered they were not up to his standards and he had them returned and picked out the high quality ones he is known for rather than accept second rate. I am very happy with the work he did, would not hesitate to use his services again, and highly recommend him.

AEULL WOODWORKS INCWe had a kitchen remodel go way off track. We fired the contractor (interestingly recommended by the cabinet shop) and the cabinet shop. We fired the contractor for poor quality work and the cabinet shop because they lied to us about delivery dates. He changed the delivery date for our cabinets multiple times when they had not cut a single piece of wood!!!
So we were in a very tough place. We didn't know what to do so we called Paul at Eull Woodworks. We had interviewed Paul at the beginning of our project and determined that his quality and services were beyond what we wanted to spend. Big mistake. Now when we were in trouble we called Paul again and asked him to take on the project. Paul explained that he was very busy and he would not be able to take on our project for months. Paul recommended other cabinet builders that he thought would do a very good job for us. After thinking about it we decided that Paul was the guy we wanted to rescue our kitchen project. After all, what do you say about a guy who tells you straight up that he can't help you out for months and recommends other people to do the job? Also we had checked with multiple vendors, designers, architects and EVERYONE said that Paul was the very best. He is. His reputation is beyond sterling and deservedly so.
We thought that our original designer was good but Paul's design aesthetic is unbelievable. Paul took our original design and brought it to an extremely elevated level of design sophistication and elegance. The kitchen and dining room are more beautiful than we imagined they could be. He taught us the difference between inset, face frame and frameless and why you select each one for a particular look.
The quality of the cabinets and level of precision demonstrated buy the guys in the shop is just fantastic. Pete and Rodney installed the cabinets and are extremely talented, conscientious and skilled. We can't say enough good things about them.
Any issues or problems that arose were quickly and efficiently handled. One issue came up when Paul was unavailable and was handled just great by Pete, Rodney and Chad.
In the end the more expensive option became the least expensive option when you consider the emotional toll that we paid for making a poor first selection. We will always be grateful to Paul and his team for the unbelievable job that they did for us.- Linda W. -
AGolden Rule Home ServicesIt was really great working with Tom. He was the first (prompt reply) and maybe only Angie's list flooring person to call me back.
He tested my floor for lead when he came to do the estimate. And, actually gave me a lot of info. on the phone before I ever even made estimate appointment. Tom was very patient with all of my questions. . . all through the process and even pushed back the dates for the work to fit my change in schedule. He finished several rooms in my house and fixed (filled in with white oak)
the floor in two places. He did a beautiful job and my floors look fabulous! Tom finished the work in the time allotted and the bill was just as he had stated at the beginning.

AWolleat ConstructionThe experience with Eric was great. He was very nice and knowledgeable. Felt very comfortable and confident working with him. Very satisfied with the work, and his final bill came in under his estimate. He could have just charged what he quoted and we would have been none the wiser. So that speaks to his integrity. Will definitly work with him in the future again.- Courtney E.

ARG Construction & ConsultingI worked with Richard in the summer of 2011 when my husband and I purchased a condo in Stillwater as a second home. We needed to make some changes to fit our tastes and found Richard as a great source of information, as he has worked on other condos in the building for many years. Richard is a great contractor and I will work with him again in the future. Richard is very handy and can do almost any job. He is also a master-carpenter so is really great with woodworking and cabinets. He did a great job with installing tile for a kitchen backsplash and a fireplace surround. He installed hardwood floors in most of our condo. He also made a large frame around a huge mirror over the double sink in the master bath. The wood matched perfectly with the cabinets and it looked like it should have been this way from the beginning. Richard also installed replacement sinks and faucets in the kitchen and half-bath. Probably my favorite improvement was the built-in cabinets that were added by the sides of the fireplace. Thanks, Richard, we love it!- Susan M.

ATIMELESS WOODWORKSWe had been looking for years for the right person to build us a fireplace surround. In fact, I joined Angie's List just to find some fresh leads! Greg was amazing to work with from start to finish! I didn't really have a specific "vision" for the project, so he gave me lots of ideas and emailed me pictures of different options. Then he sent me a professional design that I could zoom around and rotate--so cool! All of his responses were fast and friendly. I so appreciated having someone who was quick with email. He even emailed with our stone person so they could tweak the edge finish on the marble just right. And we are simply in love with the finished product. It is glorious. The showpiece of our home!- Amy B.
