    Melon Man LLC
I have had Melon Man do several projects for me & couldnt be happier. Andrew is professional, trustworthy, punctual, does extremely nice work & when he is done I dont have a huge mess to clean up. When we replaced the front door on our home, the custom built door was smaller than it was supposed to be. Andrews problem solving skills actually made the job turn out looking better than if the door had come the correct size. I highly recommend Melon Man & will certainly be using him again in the future. Give him a call- you will not be disappointed!!

    Aim High Construction LLC
Aim High came out and listened to what I had in mind in regards to a new deck.  They did a great job of identifying flaws in my plan and recommending an improved solution.  These were minor things that potentially had a large impact in the structural integrity and water damage prevention.  They proceeded to measure things up and presented a very fair quote.

During the installation I was pleasantly surprised to NOT hear saws all day.  They were able to come to my home with most materials precut which lead to a very fast installation with minimal disruption for my neighbors.  I'm sure the guy next door that works nights really appreciated this!

End result was a beautiful new deck that I am confident is built to provide years and years of enjoyment.

    Great job.

    Lee's Landscaping & Design, Inc.
-Excellent design process.  All of our design needs were met.  The designer was able to see what our needs were and offer his own ideas which only added to the superior deck we received.
-Master builder.  Our deck builder was perfect for what we needed.  He was professional and most importantly, he did a fantastic job building our deck.  His attention to detail was great!  Our family loves how it turned out.
-Quick responses to our questions.  Lee's was fast to get back to us whenever we had questions or concerns.

    D S Bahr Construction Inc
Dave Bahr came out and went over floor plans with us and estimated what various materials and layouts would cost.  Once we agreed on a cedar deck, with two landings, they came out the following week and his staff submitted the plans to the city, got the required approvals, and went to work on the deck.  The staff was very professional and did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves and providing answers to any questions my wife or I had during the process.  The whole process was easy and now we have a beautiful deck.  I'd use them again in the future.

    Melon Man LLC
We were extremely pleased with the service we received from the Melon Man.  I had called approximately 20 different Handy Man services that I had found on the internet and had no luck getting anyone to show up.  I decided to renew my membership with Angie's list and quickly found the Melon Man.  He performed the work that we needed on short notice and with the utmost professionalism.  He did a phenomenal job and for a very reasonable price.  I would highly recommend him and will definitely hire him again for future jobs.  I have already passed along his name and information to other friends.  I can't thank him enough!

    Britta - Chase, Inc
The company contacted me right away and said they'd be out the same week to look at the project and complete the work the following week.  They did not come out that week and did not call.  I contacted the company the following week and was told they'd be out some time that week to look at the work and have the work completed by the 4th of July.  That week came and went and no one stopped by the house.  I again contacted the company the 3rd week following paying for the Big Deal and they did come out and check the project.  When I contacted the company again, the guy (don't remember his name) told me they would be out next week to complete the work.  The next week came and went and the work had not been completed.  I contacted the company again and they insisted they would be out next week (4th week following paying for the Big Deal) and they did complete the work.  I contacted them to see if they used all 6 hours of the work I paid for to complete the caulking.  I received an e-mail that they used 5.5 hours to complete the work.  The e-mail didn't indicate any desire to do some additional work to fulfill their obligation and I didn't pursue it as I had had a difficult time just getting them out to complete one project.  So, the company received 6 hours worth of payment but only worked 5.5.  I would not use this company again.

My story is much too long for anyone to actually read the whole thing, so I will bullet point out the worst of it:
    - March 29th, we signed a contract and paid 1/3 down, and were told our deck would be completed by the first week of May.
    - First week of May came and went, and John was extremely difficult to contact, making me think that he took our money and ran.
    - Second 1/3 of payment was required at "start of work." John and his crew collected payment and proceeded to make 4 small holes where the footings would go, and left due to the ground being "too wet."
    - Again and again we were told someone would be out to complete the footings "the next day" - no one ever showed. I work from home, so this wasn't a case of me missing the people who came.
    - As of May 29th, the footings were still not complete, even though we were told they had been completed - they were not the depth required by code. A call to the city revealed that the permit had not even been picked up, though it had been approved the first week in May, so work had been done on my property without a permit.
    - Footings were finally poured on June 4th, but I was informed that John was leaving town for the rest of the week and could not start framing the deck that week, but that the following Monday (Jun 11th) work would start.
    - On June 14th, a Home Depot truck showed up in my driveway with a load of lumber. John had promised us (I have email proof) that he does not buy lumber from big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes because the quality isn't good enough. This load of lumber was split 75% of it's length, was moldy and mildewy to the point of being black, and the driver of the truck agreed that it was the best decision to not sign for the lumber. It was returned to the store.
    - John insisted that he never told us he didn't use that lumber (again I have email proof that he said it's not  high enough quality), and told me that I had delayed the deck project by not accepting the lumber.
    - Actual work on the deck itself did not start until the week of June 25th. It was completed on the 28th.
    - John told me that it was inspected, but because we do not have stairs on our deck, an inspector would have had to come in the house to get on the deck and inspect the railing. This did not happen. I had to call the city and have them come out to perform the inspection.
So, in the long run, yes, I have a deck that has been inspected and passed, and appears to be of decent quality. However, the process leading up to this was utterly painful, frustrating, and John was so unprofessional throughout that I can't recommend him to anyone. John will mention that this deck was delayed because of our unseasonably wet spring, however - 4 decks were built on my street between April 1st and May 31st, in similar yard/soil conditions to ours. The weather should have had no bearing on the timeliness of this project, and has absolutely NO bearing on John's inability to keep us accurately informed as to the schedule and  what was going on with the project.

Outdoor Spaces Design & Build Co LLC
Work was done on time and quality was great.  They really had to work hard to dig the holes for the footings because we have really rocky ground, but they powered through it and got it done.  We recommended this company to our neighbors who hired them as well.  They weren't the lowest estimate we got for the project but we hired them because they seemed like good guys who know what they're doing, and I think we made the right choice!

    Northway LLC
Bjorn and his team did a wonderful job, the deck is beautiful.  We used the Trex Escapes decking with the hidden fastener system, looks great.  Bjorn suggested going 12' on center with floor joists which was a great suggestion, eliminates bounce with this decking.

They installed notched 6X6 cedar posts, cedar skirt, cedar railings with aluminum balisters.  All very well done.  All cedar was sanded down and looks great.  We also highly recommend post skirts as a final touch, really brought everything together and hid any little imperfections.

His crew was prompt and informative and really allowed us to get exactly what we wanted.  I can't say enough about their performance and we will definitely be using them for any future remodel/building needs.

I do have to note though, the only negative, was the digging of the holes for the footings out front.  If you have an existing lawn, the skidster used to drill them will rip up the lawn and make uneven impressions.  If its new construction, no worries.  But we do have some lawn repairs to do now but maybe that should be expected with construction, not sure.

But overall, I give them an A. Highly recommended.

    Xpand, Inc.
Jess and his team were great they built my deck approximately 2 years ago and I could not be more pleased. I am just now filing this report because I recently became an Angie's List member and wanted to get the word out about the quality of work that Xpand does. Anybody thinking of working with Xpand should look no further, the team that built my deck was punctual, professional and friendly. They cleaned up and did not charge extra to haul the excess dirt away. My deck is the envy of the neighborhood!
