    The designer came out and looked at our space and existing decor, listened to what I thought wanted and showed me options. We selected what we wanted and they ordered it. They contacted me when everything was in and arrived promptly to install the fireplace. The installers were professional, put down clothes everywhere to protect carpet and furniture and were efficient. The city inspector came and then they came back to install the mantel. The supplier had stopped carrying the marble we had ordered and has substituted something else. We told Carter Custom we didn't want limestone but really wanted a light colored marble. They found us another supplier, took out the limestone and went to install the marble. The main floor piece had cracked during shipping. They got us another piece and finally we got it all installed. The installer showed me how to use the remote control and how to manually over ride in case of a power failure. He also went through basic maintenance. I really appreciated all the communication as the supplier problems were sorted out. I always knew exactly what was going on and what the current status was. Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional and overall we had a great experience. The price quoted and paid was considerably less than other suppliers for essentially the same product and the people were considerably more helpful. Overall I highly recommend them!

    The initial sales consultation went well.  The team that arrived was professional and had some good ideas on how to accomplish what we wanted to accomplish.  We gave them our budget and asked them to accomplish what they could within it.  This was the week before Thanksgiving and we were told we'd get a quote before the holiday.  We finally received the proposal on Dec 5, 2015.  For reference the other three companies we asked to provide us quotes at the same time delivered them within a week.
    When the quote arrived, all of the projects (kitchen, main bath, master bath, laundry tub, fireplace installation, door replacement) were lumped together with one big price for the whole project.  The quote itself was grouped together by type of work performed (i.e. carpenter will do this, electrician will do that) with no way for me to be sure that everything was covered or what parts went with what project.
    I asked the sales consultant, Anthony, for an approximate cost per project since the bid was over our budget and I couldn't tell what projects were contributing what costs.  Instead, he sent me a revised bid with a lower price, some things taken out and only the fireplace installation broken out.  I didn't get to choose what to take out.
    I reiterated that I wanted a price on a per project basis because I couldn't understand how the price was arrived at.  He informed me that they did not break out projects that way (every other contractor that gave me a bid had broken it down by project - note I didn't want an itemized bid - just approximate cost).   I called their office and told them I couldn't spend tens of thousands of dollars when I had a hard time reading the bid.  They immediately transferred me to Anthony who said (literally) to take the current quote or leave it.  He informed me that our project wasn't worthwhile for them to take on if we didn't do it exactly as quoted.  I told him that the quote didn't make sense to me because I couldn't tell how each project was contributing to the final price.  He stated "well it makes sense to us - I don't know what else you want me to tell you".  
    He did break out two projects finally but by now it was well into January.  Between the sales consultants attitude on the phone and the fact that the pricing in the quote was all lumped together and they refused to break it down, we decided to go with someone else.   Several friends who have done remodels in the past said the unwillingness of this company to give me any discrete pricing information were big red flags.   I decided that if they were already being dismissive of our concerns before the contract was even signed that our project was probably not going to go smoothly.

    Went into the Eden Prairie showroom on Black Friday 2015 and again on Dec 30, 2015.  Both times it was clear that actually talking to us was something the salespeople would rather not do.  On Black Friday, a saleswoman did eventually look up from her computer and show us around the showroom.  Did up a quote and showed us some samples.  Once we got her attention she was fairly helpful although constantly trying to upsell us on everything.  She gave me a mantel catalog for the supplier they work with.  
    Reviewed the mantel catalog and went back on Dec 30, 2015 to ask about the specific mantel/granite combination.  We were the only people in the store an hour before closing.  The saleswoman (a different one) and salesman were behind the desk looking at a computer.  Neither could be bothered to greet us.  We stood there for a while waiting politely for them to finish.  Finally asked if one of them would help us.  I showed the woman the specific combination we wanted and she said oh we don't carry that.  I asked if any of their other locations did - response was a bored no.
    Based on these experiences, I wouldn't work with this company.  If the sales people can't be bothered to help potential customers, I have no confidence in the people actually performing the work.

    On 8/19/15 I accept and submitted the bid that was provided to me by the service provider. I sent this to his email,, which was also on the profile page of the provider. I never received a response back from the company after submitting it so I called back in October to follow up and when speaking with Joe he advised me that he never received my bid but that he could call me back after he looks through his emails. I have yet to receive a call from Joe after advising me of this and am not sure if I caught him in a lie and he is not wanting to do the job.

    I paid more than the big deal of $199.  It was a fine experience.  The price was decent.  I was not there when they came.   

    I cannot say about the quality but I assume it was good.

    Seemed to go well.  I had to pay an additional $50 because my home is greater than 2500 square feet.  The dryer and air exchange unit were add on charges for an additional $50 each but well worth it.   The technician was very thorough and took the time to explain what was needed to do to maintain the air exchange unit.  This was new to me because my previous home did not have one.

    The fireplace is particular was well worth it. He opened up the unit, completely cleaned all of the dust in the lower section, the fireplace glass, replaced all of the glowing embers, cleaned the logs. It looked brand new when they were finished.

    I initially had trouble receiving a response from the company to schedule the maintenance check of my fireplace.  I e-mailed 3 times and no response.  An Angie's List representative contacted me about my Big Deal and I indicated that I was having trouble reaching the company.  The representative reached out to the company and within 8 hours I received a call and an e-mail.  We got the maintenance check scheduled on their next available day.  The service tech called an hour before the scheduled appointment and stated he was running ahead of schedule.  He asked if he could come out 30 minutes earlier that scheduled and I agreed that was just fine.  He cleaned the fireplace and did a maintenance check.  It looks great and he walked me through what he did and was checking for and found the fireplace to be very sound.  He was very clean and there wasn't a trace on the floor  that he had worked on the fireplace.  He put out a plastic sheet to cover his work area prior to starting and folded it up and took it with him when he finished.  I will definitely use this company again for maintaining my fireplace.

    An excellant experience!  Not only did Dr. Dave quickly diagnose the problem (a loose wire connection), he also provided me with ideas on how to make my fireplace more efficient.  I decided to add a fan to disperse the heat into the room.  Dr. Dave fixed the loose wiring and installed the fan very quickly.
