    Brekke Fireplace Shoppe
I was initially impressed with Brekke after visiting other showrooms in the area. We picked out an insert to replace an existing one and a new fireplace for the master bedroom. When the installers came they told me the remote for my fireplace was on back order and they would bring the screen (which they forgot) and the remote back when they could. I told them I needed the screen in place so I could order the marble with the exact dimensions. Waited several weeks just to find out they decided I should contact them when I was ready for it ( I thought it was on back order as I had been told). Then, we had several electricians out for an unrelated issue and they all told me the fireplace was not up to code. I called Brekke and they said it was an easy fix... just go get this part from the store for a few bucks and it will be done. I believe that is why I paid them to install it, it should have been done right and done to code. I have two more fireplaces to replace/install and I think I will have to be looking elsewhere.

Trevor was the general contractor for the job and contracted with a plumber, electrician, and insulation subs to complete the job. He did a good job coordinating things and the subs he uses were great!  Trevor is easy to talk to and listened very well to what we wanted, but is not shy about suggesting alternate/better ways of doing some things, though we always had the final say in how things were done. He has years of experience and in several instances had better ideas than we had and as a result our project turned out better than we had originally envisioned. Overall we are highly pleased with the quality and looks of our new space and would highly recommend him to others.

    M & M Masonry
I called and a polite man answered the phone.  I explained what I needed done and he said he would go out and check out my chimney and quote me a price.   He was out very quickly and we discussed the work over the phone.  I hired him over the phone and he completed the work after the weather cleared up.  He called to explain the work that was completed and suggested other work that I may need on my roof as an fyi.   He also suggested tuck pointing my chimney and I hired him to complete that as well at a later date.  The price came in at the quoted price.  All was good.

    The Chimney Sweep
Professional, courteous, thorough, and informative. The Chimney Sweep arrived on time, completed safety inspection, presented findings, completed thorough cleaning, and was meticulous on cleaning up after work was completed.

    O'Connor Construction
Actually they were very good.  They were very quick, he gave me an estimate, he did a very nice clean job.  The roofers after they were done said that whoever did it did an amazing job.  I'm very happy with them.

    M & M Masonry
We called and they came out right away to give us a quote. Came to do the work sooner than we expected and it looks great.
Dano Chimney Service, on the other hand, never returned out calls (2 or 3 messages that we left).

    M & M Masonry
Crew did a very good job. Scheduling was adjusted several times but I was in no hurry so I was plenty flexible. But once the work was underway everything went smoothly and it seemed there was a lot of attention and pride in their work. I'd definitely hire M & M again in the future for masonry work.

    Dust Doctors
The service person arrived on time and worked efficiently and cleaned up after himself. We were very pleased also to get a great report about the condition of the chimney. We found the whole thing a very good experience.

    Haley Comfort Systems Inc
I asked the 1) salesman and the 2) workman to please make sure that the multicolored stones were evenly distributed over the surface of the fireplace.
When I saw the finished product, to my horror the red stones were concentrated in the upper portion of the fireplace. I was shattered, as the design concept depended on even distribution of colored stones.
When I contacted the company, a manager examined the fireplace and explained that he could not correct the work since he had already paid the contractor who had performed the work.
Summary: Haley Comfort Systems did not perform work according to my request. They seem not to follow commonly accepted professional workmanship standards--in my case, distributing multicolored stones evenly over a surface. ...They in fact denied to me that this was a professional standard. They were unwilling to admit to their mistakes, and did not correct them. Communication within individuals working for the company is poor, follow-through is weak.

    Dano's Chimney Sweep
After living in this house for about four years, I decided I wanted to use the woodburning stove in the living room. I had no idea if the chimney had ever been cleaned before we bought the house, and also wasn't sure how to use the stove itself. Around this same time, I noticed a water stain high up on the vaulted ceiling, where the chimney pipe went through the ceiling. A few years before this I had noticed Dano's advertisement on his truck driving around town, and had written down the name and phone number, so I found the note where I had written that, and gave him a call. We set up an appointment, and I was very pleased that he arrived on time, was very friendly, and seemed to know what he was doing. I did not accompany him up onto the roof, but when he told me what was wrong, it made sense, and explained why I was having a leak up there. He didn't have the correct kind of cap and pipe to fix the problem right then, but he came back about a week later (as we had agreed) and installed the new stuff, cleaned out the stove and the chimney pipes, and showed me how to use the stove. It's been two years now, so I don't remember the exact price, but I do remember that I was happy with the work he had done, and remember that he was friendly and professional. And I would definitely call him again for any problem related to chimneys.
