Home Inspection reviews in Princeton

Gary not only lived up to every good comment on other reviews but exceeded them.  He was very helpful on my initial call to him and I was quite pleased he agreed to drive north of the cities outside of his usual area to help us. The property was a 4200 sq ft lake front home with extensive electronic features and a complex HVAC system with multiple sources including a fireplace with a blower unit, natural gas forced hot air and an outdoor wood furnace that was integrated with the water heater to provide in floor heat.  His 6 hour inspection included assessments of the macro i.e. landscaping (a dead tree threatening well destruction) and drainage, multiple attic/storage spaces, overall construction, potential roofing issues, siding and deck maintenance to mention a few.  His inspection also focused on the micro i.e. safety cables in the hideaway attic ladder, inappropriate nails used in the deck hangers, seals around the garage doors, tests of electrical outlets, function checks of all appliances, toilets, sinks and other plumbing items, inspections of all outside lights, electrical outlets and switches.  This is but a sample of the items inspected that resulted in well over 75 photos and 22 written pages.  While the bulk of prepared material alone and quality of the inspection warranted every penny paid for the inspection, it paled in comparison to the education I received by following him around and which he strongly encouraged.  Had I been willing to climb up on the roof I am sure I would have received a first hand view of the hot spots in some of the shingles and the lack of a gap between the siding and the shingles that will eventually lead to wood rot. The knowledge he passed on concerning the HVAC system alone likely will save the cost of future repairs due to ignorance which would be far greater than his fee.

Buying any home is filled with concerns about the current condition of the home and the future challenges the home will present.  Gary, through thorough inspection, documentation and education, has relieved those fears.  We can move into our new home with a sense of confidence.  It is a sense of confidence I never had in the purchase of six previous homes during the past 35 years.  What a great way to start the experience of a new home!
