    Guardian Chimney Solutions LLC
Fantastic. Joe was very helpful explaining the problem and solution. He found additional problems during the rebuild that could of cost more money but he just fixed it. His team takes a lot of pride in their work. I highly recommend these guys for chimney work.

    Twin Cities Furnace Cleaning Inc
Timely arrival, quick worker. Found that the chimney cap was improperly installed so installed a new chimney cover and animal-proof vent cover for furnace, as well. The tech took pictures of the chimney crown and showed us that all was good with a recommendation to have it re-checked in about 10 years.

    Outdoor Solutions Inc
Mike from Outdoor Solutions worked on our retaining wall and fire pit. We had several issues during the project which Mike resolved in a less than satisfactory way (he left our gutter downspout without a place to drain, told us that was not in scope, and then when pressed, did not resolve it very well). The retaining wall has since started to lean and heave. It's now pushing against our new deck. We contacted OS in the spring of 2016 when we noticed the wall was moving. Mike promised to correct the issue during the 2016 season. He has not done that despite repeated requests and communication attempts. We are very disappointed. Outdoor Solutions contracted a third party to complete the deck work and we were pleased with their work. There were a few issues we were dissatisfied with, but we resolved those issues to our satisfaction with that contractor.

    Jack Pixley Sweeps Inc
Absolutely incredible experience. Randy came out, was warm and professional, efficient with his and our time and made sure our chimney was in great working order before he left. It is amazing what a good working, wood burning fire place can do for the enjoyment and moral in the home. Because of the work and advice Randy gave we were able to enjoy our fireplace all winter long with no issues at all! Great service!!!!

    Artistic Landscapes Inc
Artistic Landscapes Inc. was one of many companies we talked to and received quotes from about installing a boulder retaining wall in our backyard to replace aging railroad ties and decking. The backyard is sloped with very limited access to move materials and equipment, therefore many of the companies we spoke with responded with either limited options for landscape ideas or unaffordable prices. Chris came out, listened to our ideas, gave us some of his and told us exactly what we could expect; he quickly put a bid together and we were elated it fell within our budget.

He and his crew not only worked around the limited access issues, but challenging weather including rain and wet conditions/clay soils. In addition to an approximate 60 foot long boulder retaining wall, they installed 33 paver stones for a pathway, steps as a feature area, additional large boulders for aesthetic enhancements and graded the area to address critical storm water runoff needs. The placement of each stone/boulder was clearly thought through, resulting in a unique and attractive wall versus many of the standard "one on top of the other" looks.

Toward the end there were a few minor tweaks we requested to which Chris and his crew were more than happy to accommodate until they knew we were completely satisfied. Clean up was fabulous too; our front yard damaged by major equipment during the process (which we knew was necessary) was fully restored as promised!

Chris was good to communicate with and very trustworthy in terms of what he committed to delivering. I would recommend Artistic Landscapes to anyone seeking quality work at a fair price, and by someone who knows what works and what doesn't. We absolutely love our new backyard...thanks Chris and Artistic Landscapes!

    Twin Cities Furnace Cleaning Inc
went fine; they brought their contraption in with all needed hoses, etc. and basically vacuumed out the air ducts...
I would give them an A, but they tried to sell me stuff I didn't need by pointing out non-issues on my furnace to try to get me to buy extras...I'm almost sure they are told they have to do this - their company may not make much on this service if they don't sell some other stuff to bump up the costs, so I don't blame it on the guys who did the work(and for a change it was not possible to bite because I had been hit up by medical bills and there's no getting blood out of a rock)
the results were good; my wife's allergies were quite a bit better afterward....

    Craftsman's Choice Inc

We met with Mike (sales person) at our home. Mike was very professional and attentive. We had a list of questions, and also gave him several 13" x 19" computer renderings of exactly what we wanted to have done. We were very prepared.

Mike answered all of our questions. Craftsman's Choice also has some nice features such as having your project in the cloud so you can just check on when different segments of your job is being scheduled. They also provide you with a very detailed bid.

We received Mike's bid via an email. We had originally started out with three businesses all chosen from a very extensive and detailed search of many sites including Angie's List. One of the businesses we eliminated because they would not email a bid, but wanted a face-to-face meeting to present the bid, which we did not want.

Both remaining businesses (Craftsman's Choice and one other) were extremely competitive in their bids. We (my wife and I) finally made a 12 category questionnaire in which we could grade each business between a 1 and a 10. Both businesses came out exactly the same average points.  Better in some areas, worse in others.

We finally went with the other firm only because of several Angie's List reviews that indicated a similar problem with Craftsman's Choice, but this was minor.

We emailed Mike informing him we had chosen another firm. Mike emailed us back and was very professional and even asked how he could improve his presentation.

We are very sure that we would have been pleased with the work if we had chosen Craftsman's Choice. But in the end you have to choose one business. Both were extremely competitive in pricing and professional in their presentation. And if the other business (which did not have those few negative reviews) did not exist, we would have gone with Craftsman's Choice without hesitation.

In the end it was a "gut decision" and one which was hard for us to make.

    Dupont Brick & Stone Inc
Took apart steps, added cement to strengthen, level. Mortared all stone on the faces and replaced where needed. Replaced stone steps mortared between stones and sealed to prevent any moisture issues in the future. Looks great! Can't believe we waited so long to get this done. I have already recommended him to family.

    Metro Chimney & Masonry
I contacted Joe at Metro two weeks ago.  To my good fortune, he was doing several other jobs in the area, making it easier to schedule a crew on relatively short notice.  They removed the top 2' of bricks from our chimney, reused the same bricks and rebuilt the crown, including a limestone cap stone.  In addition to the brick work, there were two metal caps on our fireplaces; one was damaged and the other was badly worn.  Metro replaced  the caps at the same time they had their scaffolding set-up for the brick work.  The work was completed in a day & half.  The Metro crew was very neat, removing all the excess materials and leaving the site clean.  The chimney looks great!

Kevin Johnson Brick & Stone LLC
Kevin came to give us an estimate on Sept 8th for this work. The chimney brick had been breaking apart (the front face of bricks falling down into the yard). A number of years ago I had it tuck-pointed so I knew it was time for more thorough repair. We found Kevin on Angie's list and only had him estimate the job. He said he was scheduled out a month or more, and returned in a month. He called to say they could do the work this week and got my ok first. Once here the crew worked about 1/2 day to complete the work. They needed access to water and power, both of which were available outside the house. The roofer came the next day to install the new flashing. The chimney looks great - better than ever with more modern brick (the old was Chicago brick, the new is also multi-colored but as distressed looking). The yard was left clean and the roof as well.
