    Home Transformations Inc
This was the second time we had Home Transformations paint our home. Above all else we realized we could trust their judgement regarding the work and the effort required for our 1911 home and the work and effort they actually put into it. It wasn't just a cursory scrape job and paint. Approximately half bare wood was exposed around the entire house after scraping was completed, followed by the entire home primed, then followed by two very well applied coats of exterior paint. Since the trim was white and the siding was gray it would be very noticeable if one color was errantly applied over the other, which certainly was not! Anyone that has an old home is well aware the extra care and time that is required. Seems the effort is at least double no matter what it is. The boards are over one hundred years old, and pretty easy to damage. And a lot of the wood needs to be special ordered when replaced. I did happen to already have a number of pieces of lap siding and 5/4" fir that was purchased a couple years ago to repair a rotted area around the window which they immediately identified and did a fantastic job of repairing. They made the repair just as I would have in a fraction of the time. Regarding neatness, no paint was where it didn't belong, not on the roof shingles, window glass, window screens, front or rear decks. We have a lot of plants and shrubs around the house, and even though we cut then back away from the house it probably was not really enough clearance and they did tie back the shrubs that were too close to the work area. And somehow didn't trample what we thought would get inadvertently damaged no matter how careful. They also manually washed down the gutter downspouts that wouldn't come clean after power washing so they wouldn't detract from the new paint job! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Home Transformations to anyone that is looking for someone they can completely trust in doing the job beyond their expectations! Chuck & Ann Latia

We hired Paul to finish our basement including a large family room, 3/4 bath, and bedroom. Paul and his contractors are very professional and Paul keeps you posted as progress is made. We really enjoyed working with Paul and will be hiring him to build us a new deck.

    American Eagle Construction LLC
First of all, we were in a rush for this project. However, we completely lucked out when we found Guillermo from American Eagle Construction. Unlike the other builders/handymen I contacted, Guillermo actually answered the phone on my first call. He listened to our needs, and when I asked if he could come over that same day to look at the project needs, he made it happen (on a Friday evening)! He also sent us two possible plans the next day (a Saturday) and when I had questions and called to discuss (also on Saturday), he answered again and talked me through it. When my husband and I adjusted our plans, Guillermo came out again on Monday morning to discuss them. We worked together to plan exactly what we wanted! He came up with creative solutions to ensure that this new wall would be able to support the track and barn door we had purchased. He was able to start the work one week later. The first day, he worked a 10 hour day. He also came back the next two days to sand and finish. He was always ready to listen and always tried to ensure our complete satisfaction with the project. We are very happy with the work performed! He will be back after the flooring is complete to install our barn door. Guillermo is attentive, a hard worker, and performs quality work!

    Building Renewal Inc
Fantastic! There was some wait time at the beginning, during the planning and selection phase. But once work began, there were workers or subcontractors on-site every day, moving the project along to rapid completion. I really appreciated the detailed project plan, which was updated with any changes along the way. Since this was the only bath on our bedroom level, it was important to get it back in service quickly, and Adam made it happen in exactly four weeks, just as promised. All workers and subs were among the best I've ever had in my home. They cleaned up daily and at the end of the project the bathroom was move-in ready. I would hire them again (and hope to do so soon) and recommend them to others. If you want professionals who can keep to schedule and budget, these are your guys.

Sanding of the deck was not  covered by the contract so I did that myself.  I sanded the deck so I would get rid of all of the old stain  and the beauty of the wood would show through with the new stain.  I wanted a stain matched to a previous color stain used. They matched the stain to that.  After I has sanded the deck and horizontal deck railing they power washed the entire deck and stained it with the color I wanted.  Two coats of stain were used on the deck floor.  The second coat was  applied after the first coat had dried overnight.  The deck looks beautiful.

They were prompt and professional and I would highly recommend them.

    Anton's Floorcovering LLC
Job was done very well!  The tile looks gorgeous and Victor (the tile installer from the company) was able to get the job done in one week's time; he is very meticulous with his work.  They were also able to cut tile at our kitchen cabinets which are newer and would've been hard to uninstall; this saved us a lot of stress.  The price was not the lowest bid that we got, but we went with Anton's Flooring due to rep and the confidence that we had in them doing the job right (plus their work is backed-up by the floor association for peace of mind).  Thank you!

    Old Pro Carpentry Service LLC
Dan is an outstanding professional to work with.We were completing our basement and one of the carpenter we hired left us in the middle and disappeared.. Dan stepped in and helped us complete the project. One of the biggest pieces of the project was completion of a dedicated Home theater room. This room has raised seating, with 6 column's , 7" basebaords, chair rails and crown around the room. Dan took my initial ideas refined it and came up with a finished product that I am extremely pleased with.
Dan knows his stuff and has a keen eye for the details. He told me things that would work and those that won't and we changed the layout quite a few times based on his input. I would hire Dan again in a heartbeat and actually Dan has been back doing other things in the house after the completion of my basement project.

I came across Erik's business on Angie's list and I am 100% satisfied with everything Erik has worked on. I am continuing to use Erik for other work I have on my home (Kitchen Cabinet Install, Hardwood flooring, tile work, etc). Erik is extremely responsive, he keeps me informed of what his plans are and when he will be working and what his expected completion dates are. His craftmanship is excellent, I am confident in his abilities to do the work he says he can do. In fact, I asked him about installing laminate flooring and he told me that was not his area of expertise. He is a person of integrety. I will continue to use Erik with future projects. I highly recomend Erik as a general carpenter, cabable of doing multiple projects.

We had an existing 2nd level deck with a wraparound walkway around a bay window and were looking to make some changes. 1) The wraparound portion was not built properly and was starting to sag - this needed to be taken care of from a safety standpoint. 2) The deck lacked a staircase which we wanted to gain access to the yard below. 3) The deck had at least 5 layers of solid stain that was cracked and peeling - we had been fighting it with chemical removers, pressure washing, sanding, and scraping, but were not getting anywhere. We also found that some of the railing and deck boards were beginning to rot. We wanted the deck to look good again and reduce the amount of maintenance needed.
We requested quotes from three contractors. The first portion of the job was pretty well defined. For the staircase, we weren't exactly sure where it should start and end and each contractor talked through different options. Cary came up with a plan that leveraged the existing deck frame, minimized the impact to our landscaping at ground level and simplified the construction of the staircase itself. We also asked to quote low maintenance vinyl railing. Cary explained that while the vinyl materials were lower cost, the installation of vinyl railing was more labor-intensive than aluminum railing and that we may be better off with the aluminum railing. At that point we were planning to continue to tackle the deck floor boards on our own.
We ended up receiving two quotes and Paragon was significantly lower. That said, each contractor came up with a different project plan - the more expensive quote would have ended up with vinyl railing and a staircase with a midway landing and some complicated angles. Cary's quote to take care of the failing wraparound, add the staircase and replace the railings with aluminum railing was substantially lower. It also included line items on the quote for replacing the floor boards with two different material options - we hadn't asked for that specifically, but he included it after I had explained the struggles we were having with removing the stain. We decided to replace all the floor boards with new cedar.
Once we decided to go with Paragon, things went very well. Cary did the entire project himself - he was professional, cleaned up the area each day and kept us informed on timing. He is a skilled craftsman and has a lot of experience which helped us save money and get an even better result than we anticipated. The deck looks well integrated with our home and there is no evidence of the wraparound that was removed (except for the concrete footing that we left in the ground). We have access to our yard and garden without having to walk around the house and will have significantly less required maintenance which will give us more time to enjoy our deck without cursing it. We are very pleased and would definitely use Paragon again.
