  • We purchased a high quality amish desk set that was a floor model and had some scratches and was broken in one place which they fixed and did a great job. We had some credit left on our coupon so we brought in a coffee table that had nail polish spilled in a small spot which took off the finish. They had a good idea to to upholster the top as an alternative. The piece turned out really well - great work! Only catch was that the estimate given to us ahead of the work was that the balance on our Angie's list coupon would cover it. About two weeks after we picked up the finished coffee table we got an email from the business saying we still owed them over a hundred dollars! The summary for this business is - high quality work but disorganized business practices. On several occasions we had to call multiple times before getting responses to arrange work and drop off and pick up times.

  • Good. It took them longer than I had expected. The frame of the chair and legs needed more work than I had anticipated. They made the needed repairs, without charging me any more than the initial estimate. I am happy to have my chair back home.

  • All the people I dealt with were polite, helpful and professional. I brought the old cushions in and they helped me find fabric, discussed how I would like them made and promised them in 2 weeks. I brought them in on Tuesday and they were ready the following Monday. They look fantastic and so comfortable to sit on.

  • I can't say enough good things about Chris.
    He was right on time and took his shoes off at the door when he saw our shoes there.
    He no longer does repair on leather and vinyl fabric, but he recommended someone who did.  He gave me estimates for replacing the leather and vinyl panels, but encouraged me to see if I could get them repaired or dyed instead. He looked at seven different pieces of furniture. He pulled two broken springs out of a leather recliner and said that it didn't need repair as long as it was still comfortable.
    When I tried to pay him, he refused to take any money at all.
    I will definitely use him for any furniture repair or rehab I need in the future.

  • I left a message to set up an appointment, and Ernest called back late that evening, even after a long workday.  He was very polite, and requested photos of the issues via email for better preparation for the quote.  Ernest and a coworker arrived on time, gave me their business card, and put on cloth boots to protect our floors from their shoes.  They inspected both sofas carefully, and were very knowledgable with their repair suggestions.  At the end of their visit, Ernest wrote a detailed and itemized estimate for both sofas, including options discussed for one of them, and the prices ($447-752 total plus tax) and time to repair (4-5 days) all looked reasonable.  We decided to postpone the work until we have the money (presently unemployed), but would hire them when circumstances change.

  • Put in a call and was happy to hear that I could purchase my own fabric.  Found what I wanted at Joann Fabric for 50% off.  Gave a call and Chris Lee picked up the chair and my fabric.  You can tell he has a great deal of experience with these vintage pieces of furniture.  I got a call on 3/18 that the chair was done and it was delivered.  Looks terrific and I couldn't be happier!  Now the chair is comfortable to sit on and it looks just beautiful!  Thank you Chris Lee!

  • We took pillows from a very good couch to Furniture Specialist.     Chris Elmquist was not there,   but we were told to leave the pillows.    We asked for an estimate before the work was to be done.   Chris called shortly thereafter to quote price which we felt was a very fair price.   We decided to have both pillows repaired    He said they would repair them today.   We were surprised that the work could be done on the same day we
    took them in.   Sure enough,   we were called this afternoon to tell us that the work was done.   We drove back to pick up the pillows.
    We were shown that the  both pillows were stitched all around on all four sides and both seams.    The pillows were looking great
    and we were even offered a discount because we used Angie's List.   We didn't take it,   but we were very impressed with the
    whole experience.

  • My experience went relatively well. They came and picked up the chisels and they reupholstered and we got it back actually little bit early which was nice. They delivered it and we had no problems. They were prompt and friendly.

  • After our phone inquiry, we set up an appointment at our house for the next week. Chris arrived on time, made measurements, provided an estimate (turned out to be accurate) for the labor and cushions but without the fabric cost, as we hadn't decided which fabric to go with yet. At the same visit, Chris left us with four hefty fabric sample books that he had selected based on our phone conversation. And he patiently explained the pros and cons of various types of fabric for our project. A week or so later, once we called to confirm we wished to proceed, he promptly dropped by to pick up two existing cushions to ensure accuracy. He said the project would take 3 weeks (1 week of which was waiting for the foam cushion material), and he brought the completed cushions back in a bit less time than that. Workmanship was excellent, flawless. The cushions look terrific and had the exact look and feel we were after. He even took away the old cushions for disposal. During all this, he additionally and gladly answered some questions we had about unrelated issues regarding a wood floor and furniture. Chris' manner inspires confidence in him and his company. He says that providing customer service is his highest priority, and he demonstrated the truth of this throughout the project. Chris' initial estimate was a bit higher than another company's, but we went with Chris because he gave us greater confidence that the work would be done superbly--not just adequately--and that the outcome would suit our specific needs. And he did give us an Angie's list discount on the labor. Actually, the cost to us was substantially less than we had expected the project to cost. We would absolutely use him again and recommend The Furniture Specialist without hesitation for any project!

  • Tony had the leather hide in stock, and we saw the quality of the material before we brought our chairs in. Tony's shop was quick-less than 2 weeks-and reasonable. The work was better than the shop which had covered the same chairs 8 years ago. We would use them again for a similar job.
