In early February of 2015, I decided to obtain some test kits from the Minnesota Department of Health to test my house for radon.
I believe it was Radon awareness month and was informed that winter was the best time to  test for radon due to closed house conditions. My tests came back very high - 16, which set me off on my journey to obtain RADON RELIEF.
I contacted Will Rogers with Radon Relief with the intent of getting a second bid. But after talking with him for almost an hour on the initial evaluation, I decided he was the man for the job. He was very knowledgeable in all things Radon and his unassuming kind demeanor put me at ease, which would go in to help me greatly in mitigating my unique radon problem.
From our first meeting, we quickly realized that I had a very unique and invasive radon problem. I had already been frantically testing my house before I met Will and my numbers were everywhere with electronic radon tester. It ranged from a low of 8 to 35 and there seem to be no pattern that I could pinned down. Will came in and diagnosed the issue coming from two possible places. One under the slab in my basement laundry room and the basement storage room underneath my foyer. But since readings were so high, Will became concerned about how effectively he could mitigate the Radon problem. So he contacted the Lead scientist at MDH.  MDH came in and verified that I had very, very high radon levels, even more so underneath my house. So With MDH's additional help, we decided that the best and most effective mitigation of my deep Radon, would be a two prong solution. A traditional suction point was installed in my basement slab and the PVC pipe was routed directly through my master closet above, then through my attic above with fan, then directly out my roof. From that same PVC pipe installation, Radon Relief connected another PVC connection that was routed to a second suction point in my basement wall in the storage room. I had already sealed all the cracks in my basement walls with caulk myself previously as Radon Relief included limited amount of sealing work and I required a lot more. After all was said and done, we retested and results came down to 2 on someday and  1.2 on others, which is totally acceptable!...:) Now Winter is almost here, I am gearing up for another retest to make sure the Radon levels have kept. I am going to do one short term and one long term over the coming months at Will's suggestion. But I am confident the radon levels have been kept down. If not, I have no doubt, Will promised to come back and mitigate my issues free of charge due to his guarantee. Thank you, Will for providing my family with peace of my mind and RADON RELIEF! Break down of pricing - 1500 for traditional suction point, and 400 for the second basement wall suction point. This included all the piping that had to be routed out through my roof across 3 levels, and piping between the first and second suction point, which was also extensive.

Did a great job putting in the system.  Cleaned up after himself and would recommend Advanced Radon Services to anyone I come across that is looking for a system.  Now I just need to wait for the Radon test to show the reduced levels and then the peace of mind will be great having this system in.
    Thank you!

Wayne did a home inspection, infrared & radon test for us on a new home purchase.  This was the second time we have had Wayne do an inspection and he help us avoid a home with several problems earlier this year.  He is fantastic to work with as he explains what he is doing and what he is looking for every step of the way to help give you an idea of where things are at and what to be watching for when that home becomes your home.  I plan to use him if I am ever in need again in the future and will recommend him to anyone that is needing a home inspection in the future.

After reading an article about high levels of radon in Minnesota homes, we tested our basement and its level came back at 7.6 (above the EPA's recommended level). We contacted several different companies about installing a radon mitigation system and chose to go with Radon Relief. Will, the owner, came to our home and provided a fair estimate. He was also the one to install the system. Our radon level has dropped to 0.9 and we couldn't be happier! It was a tricky installation (as our basement ceiling is sheet rocked). He did a fabulous job concealing the system as well as sealing an area under a bathtub in the basement. Would definitely recommend!

This company was always really professional.  Walt took the time to really explain all the factors necessary to pick the right system that was going to work.  He always called before coming and was very punctual.  They did excellent work and cleaned up after themselves.  They even let my kids watch them work and were very nice to them.  When I wrote the check incorrectly, they sent it back to me with a self-addressed stamped envelope, even though the mistake was mine.  They are an upright and wonderful company that I would highly recommend to anyone.

Overall the work went well.  Walt did a great job explaining how the system would work, the installation was smooth, on budget, and on time, and the preliminary Radon reading showed a noticible reduction.

After extensive research via Angie's List we decided to contact Advanced Radon Services in regard to the radon problem in our home.  We emailed the company expressing interest and promptly heard back from them the very same day.  Mr. Walt Fitzmaurice gave us three available dates and we were able to set up in in-home estimate a short three days later.  Walt gave us a courtesy call and arrived promptly at the agreed upon time.  For the next hour, he did a thorough and complete inspection of all areas of the basement and gave us a thorough explanation of how radon can get into a home and the best ways to go about reducing it.  He has an excellent knowledge of the subject matter and was very informative.  After he left, he emailed us a bid and we decided that this was the right company to complete the job.  We were able to schedule the construction three weeks later.  Walt gave us another courtesy call the day before arriving.  Extremely professional and very much appreciated.  The day of the service Mike, Tony and Walt arrived promptly on-time and put down some tarps to protect the carpet.  They then drilled a couple of holes in the concrete slab to perform a field extension test to determine if the system to be installed would get the job done.  Unfortunately, due to the extreme density of the soil beneath the home, this test did not pass, meaning typical mitigation would not get the job done of removing/reducing enough radon from our home.  It was not good news, as we were looking forward to not only getting rid of the radon, but working with this company as they are both professional and outstanding on all levels.  Walt explained the unfortunate news, and suggested we try another short term radon test to check levels in the basement and if still over acceptable levels, to contact an HVAC installer and have an air to air exchanger installed in the home.  Walt emailed us some further information on air exchangers as well as some contact information.  Although unable to install a mitigation system, Advanced Radon Services excelled on all levels.  From initial contact, through free no obligation inspection, to the day of the scheduled service, all involved were extremely professional, prompt, courteous and a pleasure to work with.  All in all from the in-house consult through the day of service Walt spent approximately three hours in our home not to mention the travel time from the southern to northern suburbs...ALL AT NO CHARGE.   It is refreshing in this day and age to find a company with this level of professionalism and integrity.  Although unable to fix the problem (through no fault of their own) we absolutely HIGHLY RECOMMEND them should you need radon mitigation services.  We will take the next step and check into an air exchanger, but greatly appreciated the expertise of Walt and the team at Advanced Radon Services.

Our home was up for sale and we received a radon reading that was not acceptable. We needed action quickly  in order to complete the sale. Walt responded within hours and had the house remediated with in 2 weeks. This was by far one of the most professional experiances we have had with a contractor. Prompt, polite and complete. We ended up with a certified project that made things move smoothly.
