After I agreed to the estimate and approved the work Joe and his crew came out and did the job in one day. They removed the old top of the chimney and replaced it. They added some other details to direct water and have it drain away from the chimney top. They treated the bricks to protect them from further water damage. They fixed the loose brick and the places where the mortar had crumbled. Afterwards they cleaned up the concrete from where they had removed the top of the chimney and used a leaf blower to remove some of the dust. One of them even did me a favor and pushed closed a sticky window on the second floor. It was very easy to work with Joe and his crew.

It was a much bigger job than I had anticipated but I'm so glad Joe realized that the chimney needed some work. A few days after I received the estimate and agreed to the work he called me one morning and asked if he could come that day. He and his crew were able to get it all done in one day. They removed the old top and replaced it with some added protections to enhance drainage and protect it from future water damage. They treated the bricks down to about the roof line to protect them more water and weather damage. He explained all that he would be doing I felt like it was all good quality touches to not only repair but to protect. Of course he also fixed the loose brick and removed and then filled in the mortar/chipmunk damage.

We called the company and were given an appointment for the very next day. We had planned to install one large chimney cap to cover 4 chimney flues on top of our large chimney. We were given the pros and cons of one large cap vs four separate caps along with price estimates. We were advised to go with 4 caps to protect the integrity of our brick chimney. The 4 stainless steel caps were installed that same day. We hadn't planned on getting advice on installing a fireplace insert but, it turned out that the company also sells inserts so we had the fireplace measured and were given good advice on installing an insert. We put off that decision for a later date.

Kevin and his crew did a great job repairing my crumbling chimney. He gave me several different options in his quote. He also made a good suggestion to add a projected limestone piece to keep water and ice off the chimney. The price was very reasonable compared to the 2nd bid I received. The crew worked hard during some very hot weather to get it done. They were considerate in protecting my front lawn and garden. The final product looks great. The brick color matches well with the other brick on the front of the house.

The principal of Stone Masonry, Micah Forsburg, came out to estimate the job when I was at work, but my wife was at home.  He helped her shovel snow before he left from the unexpected May 2013 snow.  He provided  the estimate for the work and after I reviewed it, I accepted it.  Micah's brick man Angus Kinnard scheduled the work for early June and showed up promptly when the on the day work was to commence.  Angus was personable and efficient.  Rainy weather caused some delays, particularly during the phase of work on the chimney with scaffolding.
Angus completed the chimney work with the help of one person to assist him in removing the heavy false ducts that showed on the chimney cap.  The work was done professionally and efficiently and the cleanup was well taken care of.  I thought it a good job all around and, although expensive, required several man hours and a good deal of material.
I was completely satisfied with all phases of the work and communication with Micah Forsburg and Angus Kinnard

Michael was great with helping us pick the right wood stove and has been extremely helpful before and after the installation. He has been a incredible wealth of information on everything related to wood stoves. John and John were also great with the installation. Everyone has been very professional and and great to work with. Woodland is just about the only shop in town certified by the National Fireplace Institute as a wood burning specialist!!
