    John & Jerry Co
Great. Both John and Jerry (separately) came to our home to look over our driveway and provide options on what we could do to repair the surface. They recomended and priced three options which included making spot repairs, spot repairs and overlay of the whole driveway and lastly a complete replacement. We chose the combination of repair and overlay of the total surface. They targeted a date to do the work and kept in touch with us to schedule a final date. Their crew of workmen and equipment arrived as promised and the work was done in one afternoon. I am really pleased with the price and quality of the work . It exceeded my expectations.

    L & R Suburban Landscaping Inc
We chose L&R because they were willing to take on every aspect of our extensive project, and we are so happy with that decision. Owner Lyle stopped by - often multiple times each day - to check on the work in progress, to guide his excellent, hardworking and personable workers, and to oversee subcontractors. He always had time to patiently answer all of our questions. We also appreciated the office staff, always friendly and responsive.

Did a decent job at first, but not to the standard that it was portrayed during the quoting process. Specifically, after one year, the newly paved driveway showed spider cracks, which they came and confirmed were to be repaired under warranty. However, after several follow-ups, they do not respond and have yet to come to repair this issue. This is very disappointing that this company does not live up to their promise. I feel I overpaid $5K+ for a new driveway supposedly under warranty for 5 years.

    Northrup Remodeling, Roofing & Exteriors
In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete an extensive remodeling project (attached garage, master bathroom, bedroom conversion into a walk-in closet and 2nd floor laundry room, new driveway, backyard brick patio, siding for the entire house, exterior window painting and, repairs on a number of deferred-maintenance items within the house). Ron Burgess was the project manager. Northrup Remodeling did an outstanding job. More specifically, Ron Burgess and all of the subcontractors that he assigned to the project were professional, courteous, dedicated and delivered a product that exceeded my expectations in a number of instances. Ron worked tirelessly behind the scenes to coordinate all of the work, was incredibly responsive to all my questions and, provided me with invaluable advice and insight. In a number of instances, Rons insight and advice spared me from wasting money on unnecessary work and yielded aesthetic outcomes that were better than I could have imagined. / / / / / / / / / DETAIL / / / / / / In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete the following: Tear down a detached two car garage and rebuild an attached two car garage in its place; Tie the new garage into a pre-existing mudroom (entailed a small expansion of the existing mudroom); Full demolition and rebuild of the master bathroom; Conversion of a bedroom into a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a second floor laundry room; One window replacement; Installation of new siding on the entire house; Exterior painting of all windows, chimneys and brick facade; Replacement of brick driveway with a concrete driveway; Removal and reinstallation of brick patio in the back of the house; Demolition and replacement of front brick walkway; Repair of deferred-maintenance items (railing and balusters, screen door, foyer tile and grout lines, door handles, interior doors, kitchen sink, cabinet drawers, etc.) Interior construction concluded by January 2018. Following a break for winter, the remaining exterior work was completed by July 2018. Ron Burgess was the Northrup supervisor for the entire project. My experience with Northrup was fantastic and working with Ron was a joy. Ron brought to bear the skills and abilities of subcontractors that provided a high level of quality work and professionalism. At the outset of the project, Ron set out a timetable for the start and expected completion dates for each part of the project. Ron started the project on time and kept everything moving along so that the project finished within expectations. Moreover, any time I had a question, Ron was readily available and promptly addressed any issues to my full satisfaction. Ron also brought to bear the expertise of Kathleen Winter (interior designer) and Richard Groh (architect). Ron, Kathleen and Richard worked extraordinarily well together during the project. In every instance, they were able to suggest great ideas, integrate the goals/desires I had for the finished product and, most important, they dissuaded me from making certain design/material choices that I now realize would have been a huge mistake. Throughout the entire project, I was very impressed with the subcontractors Ron selected for the work. In every one of my interactions with the subcontractors, I found them to be professional, courteous, excited about their work and committed to delivering an outcome that in many instances surpassed my expectations. When each subcontractor started their part of the project, they stayed on the project until it was completed in a number of instances, working far later in the day than I would have reasonably expected or, working on the weekends.

    Aurora Asphalt & Concrete
They delivered exactly what they said. They had the lowest price and despite the weather it was mostly on time. There were no extras or frills and thats okay because I wanted the best bang for my buck.

    Jellison's Best Blacktop
They discovered that our driveway had not really been set up properly in the past and corrected all of that. Ran into a few issues, but stood by their estimate and delivered a perfect driveway! You can count on them, that is for sure. Easy to communicate with, I highly recommend.

    Jellison's Best Blacktop
It went great. Wayne and his crew and the woman at the office were really nice. They were patient with my request for a later schedule. And they answered all my questions about the process. The driveway looks really nice. I am very happy with this company.

    Jellison's Best Blacktop
Wayne worked with me during a hard time in our family. My Father landed in the hospital and later passed during the 'Prep Time' and laying of the asphalt. Wayne was very helpful and kind and worked around our schedule so we could attend to my Fathers arrangements. The blacktop was laid on 10/17 and I could not be happier. I haven't been able to drive on it, but for now it sure is pretty! I would recommend Jellison to anyone that is looking for someone to replace their asphalt driveway. Weather and family emergencies tend to happen when you'd rather they didn't, but it was nice to be able to work with Wayne in coming up with a solution that worked for us and them.

    Earth Wizards Inc
In our case, removal of the old driveway revealed foundation cinder block that extended beyond the garage floor a couple of inches. That made a "shelf" the new asphalt would rest on. While the rest of the driveway moved with Minnesota's freeze/thaw cycle, the asphalt on the "shelf" didn't. After the first winter a large crack developed. I sent photos to the installer and they let me know the problem described above. Their fix was to "put hot rubber crackfill across the top of the crack when the guys were in the area." They also said it would need to be applied annually and to blend it into the new driveway, should also do sealcoat each year. Given the professional response I had from Earth Wizard's during the bidding process, I sent them photos of the crack and the contractor's description of the "shelf" problem he saw during our installation. Earth Wizard's said they always cap and fill on any exposed block under the garage door to eliminate the shelf. Installing a control joint between the block and the new asphalt driveway creates a slip surface that minimizes the stress that creates the crack. Without this, more cracks develop as water freezes, which leads to more water infiltration, more heaving, then sinking and failure of the driveway as the photos show. When you get your bids ask what the company does if they find foundation cinder block extending beyond the garage floor after excavation!
