DFREESPIRIT PAINTINGTerrible. Paint stain on carpet everywhere, Paint brush still "on the door" trim without removing; wall paint over trim; Kitchen cabinet just painted over - without even opening the drawer!! So the paint on the drawer "peeled" off from the cabinet because they did not open the drawer to paint and just paint over the drawer. The cabinet chopped off because the paint. The lock is all broken and none of those can be used. I paid $5400 for such quality is unacceptable. She over quote things that she cannot handle. She obviously cannot do carpentry but said she would and changed the lock that resulted us being locked up in the door. I had to call maintenance guy to fix. I initially asked to change the trim but Kim insisted that painting over the trim/door would be fine. BUT it turns out the paint got chipped off and it makes the house looks such downgrade after doing the work. I highly regret it. Will not recommend her. She promised to come back and fix but never show up.- Janice C.

ANorthrup Remodeling, Roofing & ExteriorsIn August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete an extensive remodeling project (attached garage, master bathroom, bedroom conversion into a walk-in closet and 2nd floor laundry room, new driveway, backyard brick patio, siding for the entire house, exterior window painting and, repairs on a number of deferred-maintenance items within the house). Ron Burgess was the project manager. Northrup Remodeling did an outstanding job. More specifically, Ron Burgess and all of the subcontractors that he assigned to the project were professional, courteous, dedicated and delivered a product that exceeded my expectations in a number of instances. Ron worked tirelessly behind the scenes to coordinate all of the work, was incredibly responsive to all my questions and, provided me with invaluable advice and insight. In a number of instances, Rons insight and advice spared me from wasting money on unnecessary work and yielded aesthetic outcomes that were better than I could have imagined. / / / / / / / / / DETAIL / / / / / / In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete the following: Tear down a detached two car garage and rebuild an attached two car garage in its place; Tie the new garage into a pre-existing mudroom (entailed a small expansion of the existing mudroom); Full demolition and rebuild of the master bathroom; Conversion of a bedroom into a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a second floor laundry room; One window replacement; Installation of new siding on the entire house; Exterior painting of all windows, chimneys and brick facade; Replacement of brick driveway with a concrete driveway; Removal and reinstallation of brick patio in the back of the house; Demolition and replacement of front brick walkway; Repair of deferred-maintenance items (railing and balusters, screen door, foyer tile and grout lines, door handles, interior doors, kitchen sink, cabinet drawers, etc.) Interior construction concluded by January 2018. Following a break for winter, the remaining exterior work was completed by July 2018. Ron Burgess was the Northrup supervisor for the entire project. My experience with Northrup was fantastic and working with Ron was a joy. Ron brought to bear the skills and abilities of subcontractors that provided a high level of quality work and professionalism. At the outset of the project, Ron set out a timetable for the start and expected completion dates for each part of the project. Ron started the project on time and kept everything moving along so that the project finished within expectations. Moreover, any time I had a question, Ron was readily available and promptly addressed any issues to my full satisfaction. Ron also brought to bear the expertise of Kathleen Winter (interior designer) and Richard Groh (architect). Ron, Kathleen and Richard worked extraordinarily well together during the project. In every instance, they were able to suggest great ideas, integrate the goals/desires I had for the finished product and, most important, they dissuaded me from making certain design/material choices that I now realize would have been a huge mistake. Throughout the entire project, I was very impressed with the subcontractors Ron selected for the work. In every one of my interactions with the subcontractors, I found them to be professional, courteous, excited about their work and committed to delivering an outcome that in many instances surpassed my expectations. When each subcontractor started their part of the project, they stayed on the project until it was completed in a number of instances, working far later in the day than I would have reasonably expected or, working on the weekends.- marc d.

AEclipse Painting IncIt went excellent. Their attention to detail and quality workmanship was amazing. They ended up having to replace a ton of boards (much more than were quoted) upon further inspection. The additional charge was minimal and we discussed before the work was done. They also did a bunch of extra things and touches that weren't even in the quote. Our house looks beautiful and we'll get a lot more life out of our cedar siding for sure now that all the rotten boards are out.- Steven W.

ASpring House CabinetryI had Spring House cabinetry come out and wrap some columns for 3 downstairs and and one upstairs. The work was completed on time even though we had the flooring guys laying floors down on the entire lower level. I could be more happy with the service we received, and am currently in contact with Sergey about additional cabinetry and mudroom items.- Cinnamon G.

DCoty Construction & Remodeling LLCI had Coty Construction replace a roof about +10 years go...excellent team and it was done at a fair price. Last year I requested a quote on my large deck (hand rails and floor had rot). Salesman was looking to replace the whole deck and install a high cost decking. Received a second quote from an other firm and it was 80% lower (SOW was replace the handrails and a few boards followed up with a power wash of the deck). The company seems to focus on how much they can sell vs doing what is needed.- Alan R.

ATwin City Home Remodeling LLCThese guys are the real deal, true master craftsmen! Imagine having an older house with some very difficult construction issues on the interior and exterior (e.g. brick placed AFTER window installed, lop-sided framing, kitchen cabinets up against interior frame, granite backsplash up against existing window frame, etc.) Now imagine finding some kind of construction super-hero who comes in and makes your new window look like it's been there all along. This is what happened to me. Joe and Steve came over and measured the window rough opening to determine the size of window to order. The order was custom due to dimensions and wanting a wood frame (instead of vinyl or metal clad). They both emphasized that they would need to custom frame this window (interior work), as well as create the brick-mold (exterior framing) from scratch and come up with an interior solution once they had the window in hand. Once the window arrived, Steve, the carpenter - an amazing talent, removed the old window and frame, while paying careful attention to the granite backsplash. He then installed and proceeded to custom build a beautiful wood frame (interior) and brick-mold (exterior) around this new window. It took him the entire day to get this done and it was truly masterful work. Everyone who has come to our house has marveled at the job and we couldn't be more delighted!- Jonathan K.

AMy Odd Job HandymanSteven arrived promptly and got right to work on the lamp post. He then addressed the wood rot on the outside of the house. After that, he patched a hole in the basement ceiling. He cleaned up afterwards, and explained what he was doing and why. He was also mindful of my allergies when selecting materials to work with.

FPLUS MAINTENANCEOn July 14th, 2015 Chris Olsen claimed he had the skill and equipment to do our job. He was able to only partially cut the granite countertop. He stated he could not finish the job due to lack of skill and equipment unless we signed a waiver that if the granite cracked he was not responsible. We chose to not sign any such waiver.
Mr. Olsen insisted that we pay the agreed amount of $450 although he could not complete the job. We hired another service to finish the work the next day they completed the job without any problems. Due to the very aggressive manner of Mr. Olsen we chose to pay him the full price in order to have him leave.- Pat M. -
AScheftel ConstructionIt went very well. The carpenter was very professional. The only think we did not expect was for the work to take two days. On the first day he spent about 4 hours doing the interior work, then cut through to the outside on the second day and actually installed the window. It was just one more day of inconvenience, but it went extremely well otherwise.
