Basement Waterproofing reviews in Minnetonka

  • Initially, Jeremy did a thorough investigation of our water problem. He gave a guided tour of first the exterior, then the interior, all while drawing diagrams and displaying helpful (and technical) illustrations from his printed materials. He left us well informed concerning the problem areas, their solutions, and contractor references to do the work that Rite-Way itself does not handle. I feel that I owe him, for the education he provided, to inform my decision.

  • After a thorough explanation of their solution to our wet basement woes, and a very reasonable price bid, we opted for SWCS, Inc. The team that did the work was outstanding. They were extremely efficient and clean, considering that this type of project invariably produces a good amount of dust. We are very pleased with the quality, cost and benefit. Recommended.

  • They did not perform any work on my house, but I will say, they were recommended to me by my boss who did have them draintile his basement and he was very pleased with their work, clean up, etc.

  • The bid process was great. I felt really confident that I chose the right company. They were on the higher end for price because of recommendation to replace the entire drain tile (lower price than 2 other full basement est.), but the estimator was so knowledgeable compared to others that I felt I had chosen a reliable company. The job was done on time. The clean up wasn't great but OK - left a lot of little debris in my basement that I needed to sweep up. Within 2 weeks, I had water in the same place as before the installation. After calls and emails, someone came out in December to try to address the water leaking and apply the floor sealant I'd paid for. I had water come up again not long after that fix. Also, I understood from the quote that the sealant would cover my entire floor and it only was applied to the perimeter. My emails with photos about the continued water intrusion and floor sealant have gone unanswered for weeks again. I'm displeased with the customer service and failure to address my concerns and continued water issues.

  • First let me tell you the good.  CBS was very good about scheduling, I even dropped the ball on the appointment after asking them to come out quickly.  The person that came out was very prompt and polite.  Now the bad, when I called the sales person(my wife was at home during the inspection), the first thing he asked me was "what is your budget for this?".  I don't know about any other homeowner but when water is showing up in your finished basement your budget doesn't exist, the response is I need the water to stop ruining my home.  That should have been my first "red flag", so as I hear about what it will take to fix the issue, I ask him are you sure the water is coming from the foundation and if I pay you $5,000 to install a sump pump and the drain tile, am I promised the issue will be fixed?  The answer, well "no".  Ok that is strange, so I ask more questions, and come to find out he doesn't even know what the issue is but he was sure to have me pay $5,000 the problem would go away until I asked him if I was guaranteed to have the issue fixed, then he told me no.  So I contact another provider on Angie's List, they come over and tell me they are 99% sure the issue isn't from the foundation and to call a plumber, so I do and guess what he was correct.  Total fix on the issue was less than $500.

So buyer beware when dealing with these guys, actually I am disappointed with Angie's list that a provider like this even has a profile.

  • Shannon was very punctual in arriving at our home.  He was very professional and thorough in his approach and did not waste any time during his stay.  The cost was comparable to other like companies.

We were very satisfied with the results and would use Handy Pro if we had any further need for such services.

  • I called Dick after my wife and I had spent two sleepless nights bailing water off our basement floor between our attached garage and the house..  He sounded very knowledgeable and said he knew exactly what the problem was and described what his crew had to do to fix it.  He also provided an estimate of the cost to repair and guarantee the work.  Oh, did I mention that I spoke with him on Sunday afternoon.  He arrived Monday morning enroute to another job and provided a temporary solution and a loaner sump pump which he jackhammered in to place and told me he would be back Tuesday morning with his crew.  Tuesday morning Dick and his two helpers arrived and completed the job in about four hours, cleaned up and headed out to the next job.
Time will tell if the job holds but I can't say enough about Dick's responsiveness and knowledge about my problem.  I would recommend he and his crew to anyone with a similiar problem.

  • Absolutely terrible.  Not even two years later the egress window well they replaced started to bow in and had to be replaced.  Owner would not return calls.  Found out after the fact owner wasn't licensed or qualified to replace egress window wells.  Wish I had Angie's List back then!  Avoid at all costs.

  • I've hired Standard before and they were great. I thought I had another water problem related to my foundation. I called Standard immediately.
The gentleman (forgot his name) that arrived was very courteous and professional. He did a comprehensive review of the issue and I know if I would have needed to use them, they would have done a good job. However, they failed to recognize that the water issue I was having had nothing to do with water seaping into my foundation. It was due to a water leak in my waterline. This became a job for a plumber.

  • We had been getting water in one corner of our basement for several years whenever it rained really heavily and when our gutters were plugged up, about once a summer. We had gotten an estimate from another Angie's List provider who told us that we should install a sump pump and some drainage tiles. Jim gave us an estimate (for a LOT less money) for a fix that didn't involve a sump pump or drainage tiles, saying that if we changed the grade at that corner of the house, we would never have water issues again. He had a taller window well specially made for our basement window, installed it, and added a bunch of dirt all along that corner of the house to make a steeper grade. He did the job while my husband and I were at work. We were a bit unhappy when we got home because there were quite a few places where the black plastic was showing through the wood chips. When Jim called that night to check to see if we were satisfied with the job, we told him about our concerns, and he came back the very next day with more wood chips and filled everything in. Since then, it has rained very heavily several times, and the gutters were even overflowing during the last storm, and NO WATER at all in our basement. We are very happy with this fix, and wish we would have done it years ago. Jim saved us a lot of money, and we are very satisfied with the results.
