Tile Installation reviews in Maple Plain

Everything went great! Val was very responsive and got the work done when we both agreed. His team does excellent work and was very professional in how they communicate. Pricing was in the middle of other quotes but very fair. Would highly recommend them!

Steve showed up on time for the evaluation. He was helpful and informative concerning his recommendations. He suggested two options, one more extensive and expensive than the other, with the pros and cons of each. We got other bids but decided on Steve. He was more professional and his price seemed comparable. He started and completed the project on time. He worked hard. He was tidy, respectful of our home and never left a mess. The new shower looks terrific.

The owner came promptly to give us a quote.  He was professional and personable. His employees later commented to us that he was very ethical.
The guys that came to do the job were friendly, courteous and professional.  They made three visits, one to clean, one to take out old grout and another to finish the job.
It seems to have turned out well.
Another tile professional said we needed much more extensive work, that we would need to take up the whole floor, put in a pan below the tile (the contractor says there was a pan - may not be using the right technical terms) and rip out lower part of shower wall.
Twin Cities Tile and Grout worked to repair the grout.  The cleaning and sealing was needed.  The old sealant was moldy and peeling away.
I will call them back again and sooner, before the sealant gets to be in bad shape

Returned calls promptly. Project done within one week of my initial call. Gave good design advice. Looks beautiful. Owner came to check on work. Gave info on upkeep and what to do if any concern in future.

First off,  I spent $2700.00 of this project for stonework which was done and completed in May.  This phase went smoothly, two guys showed up and completed in one very long day.  They were respectful of my home, very nice and the quality of work I would rate an "A".  However, what I found out from them is that they are sub contractors of this company and they do all their stonework,  so if your looking for just that I would recommend..
The second phase of the project was the bathroom, fireplace hearth and front steps of porch.  When they showed up I took them upstairs to explain the scope of the project since they were not the ones who came and bid out the project.  I had an existing counter top/vanity (that was missing the sink) and I explained to them that if they needed to pop off the counter top of the vanity they could because I was replacing this and it might get in the way with the tile behind tub (it's a very small bathroom).  When I came home at lunch to check to see how the project was going I noticed that my whole vanity was sitting broken into several pieces on my front walk.  I said, "You didn't pull my vanity out the bathroom did you"?  To which he replied yes, I said counter top...not vanity.  I actually had all the new doors for the existing vanity sitting  2 feet from them freshly painted.  You would have had to have  been blind not to have seen them.  So now I have $980.00 worth of new vanity doors with a vanity in pieces.  Then, they suggested that I pay for half of a new vanity to compensate for their mistake?????  Obviously I said no, so they pieced my vanity back together and I had to pay my painter to re-caulk, sand and paint to look presentable.  This was such a hassle, I then had to argue  with Val the owner over the phone about this mistake.  He said, " No both my guys said you told them to take out the vanity".  Right like they are going to admit that they screwed up?    I asked him, "Do you really think that when I have close to $1000.00 in new doors sitting there that I would tell them that"?  He never really answered the logical question.  The bathroom tile was done poorly in certain areas, and they left a spot which was narrow between the tub and the vanity and explained they could not get it in there so they just didn't tile it.  I said well when you ripped out my vanity you could have done it at that time?  They missed several areas that Val had to come back and fix, they left my property filthy and when I complained Val said he they do clean up on the last day.  I said so you leave peoples homes like this?  He said he could have his brother drive all the way back if I was unhappy (not in a nice way but making it seem like I was unreasonable).  It wasn't until I sent him pictures of my floors and walls before he began apologizing and took money off my bill to compensate for the trouble.  The fireplace hearth was done nicely and our front steps too.  However, they charged additional money for the front steps which I kind of feel made up for the mistakes they had to eat in the bathroom but oh well, just glad to be done with that nightmare.  Would not use them again.

On the appointed time and date Allen showed up and spent several hours on the job. He arrived exactly when promised and was finished again on time. He took us through the finished product and explained exactly what he had done. Allen upgraded the grout on the porcelain tile job to a much longer lasting product after he had gotten into the job and could determine the extent of the damage. The old grout was applied improperly and was wearing to the point of needing replacement. Allen applied a more durable product again as part of his service.  He did this at no charge to us. He color matched the grout in the natural stone shower perfectly. He also applied caulking so that everything was like new. While we were going through the finished product Allen explained simple steps we could take to keep both areas looking good over time.
I would highly recommend Allen the Grout Doctor.

A property that I recently purchased needed a complete re-do in the mechanical room, which had no place for water to go if the worst occurred.  Another Angie’s List firm helped put together a plan that water proofed the floor by building the equivalent of a tiled shower floor with cement board, Red Guard, and porcelain tile.  It included a new floor drain as well, which the room did not previously have. Because I was under a time constraint, the tile work was sub-contracted with Brian Geurts of Brian’s Whatever, LLC.  I believe Brian used to be on the other company’s team and is now doing independent trim, ceramic tile, sheetrock, backsplash, bath, kitchen, and basement remodeling.  He also apparently does the tradeshow display setups for a local tile company.  I discovered that he has a lot of remodeling experience. Brian did a wonderful job waterproofing and tiling the mechanical room floor.  He even created a hinged trap door in the tile floor that gives me access into the crawl space.  He set it up so once I’m done with the remodeling project, I can add a bead of silicon to complete the waterproofing seal on the door access.  He even volunteered to come out and do it himself if I need it. Brian was very professional and offered up ideas that I had not thought about.  He even took a weekend of his own time to get the job done.  You don’t see that everyday.  His work looks great and he pays attention to the detail. Thanks, Brian.
