I switched my cat's care from another local clinic to River Hills. I have been very impressed with all of the staff. I'm particularly thankful to Dr. Holly for going the distance to find out what was wrong with my cat. She made a list of symptoms and possible diagnoses and then we went about testing him for the ones that were most likely. Dr. Holly kept my wallet in mind as she did testing; and once we had the diagnosis she offered me several treatment options in different price ranges. I really appreciated Dr. Holly's scientific method approach to diagnosing my cat. He is doing much better on the medication we settled on and hasn't had any flare-ups since starting his meds and special diet. My only "criticism" of River Hills is that they seem to have more clients than appropriate for their staffing levels. When scheduling appointments, they are usually a few weeks out, although they will see you immediately for an urgent concern and they have "same day" appointments that you can book if you call first thing in the morning. While this is a criticism, it has never affected my cat's care or put him in any danger. I've never felt that his health was compromised because of the scheduling. One could say a bustling practice like theirs with lots of clients is a sign that they're practicing excellent veterinary medicine. I would agree.

For boarding, it all went well. We called a couple of weeks ahead to schedule the boarding, then dropped our dog off. They walk the pets several times a day and give them a bath on the morning of the last day. They also provide a and quot;report cardand quot; of how your pet got along during the boarding (Did they eat well, enjoy the bath, behave well, enjoy the walks, etc.). If the pet needs any medical attention or rechecks of prior medical problems, that can sometimes be taken care of while boarding. And if your pet is on prescription medications, you can trust that they will be given properly.
We feel the price for boarding is very reasonable. The only downside is that the pet doesn't get all-day socialization like at some places. Prior Lake Pet Hospital is also really good for general vet services. The staff is very professional and caring. They also now offer late night and weekend emergency care - which is a big plus, since we used to have to drive over to Apple Valley for this service. Our one complaint is that we feel their vet services are very expensive - much more than we have paid in other towns, so we experienced some sticker shock. However, we've heard that all of the vets in this area charge about the same, and this is a very expensive area in which to live and do business.

After a quick weighing and check-in with the friendly and helpful techs/receptions (they weren't phased when we accidentally scattered hay on the floor, etc. ;] ), we settled into the exam room. Dr. Lancello, who has a small animal certification, promptly checked out each bunny carefully and thoroughly. He had practical advise for various issues such as waxy build-up in ears or chalky urine. I had several questions about nontraditional rabbit advice I had read on an online forum. He was familiar with each concept and could explain any concerns, suggest better options, or note when the practice was too new or undocumented to be sure of its value.
I can't praise this clinic enough for its professionalism and dedication to providing the most up-to-date care for my rabbits (and all pets). I drive 50 miles to see Dr. Lancello and have never regretted making the trip. To top it off, compared to similarly experienced vets (located in the twin cities), the Jordan clinic is extremely affordable.
If I lived closer, I wouldn't hesitate to bring my dogs and cats to this clinic, as well.
    ***** Highly recommended!!

We have used The Paw many times since they opened a number of years ago, for two different dogs and 1 cat. We have boarded our dogs and brought them for daycare many times and boarded our cat a few times during some longer trips. We have always been pleased with the care and attention our animals have received and how we have been treated by the staff, as well. As our former dog got up in years and was not as active, they always gave him special love and care. Our current dog gets excited a block away and can't get out of the car fast enough once we arrive. You can tell everyone loves him and he returns that love. It is a little expensive, but we think it's worth it for good care.

Great, my dog was very nervous getting there for his first time, they assured me that they would introduce him to the group slowly before throwing him out, when his first day didn't go well they weren't sure but assured me they would try again carefully, which was nice to know that they cared, so I asked them to try it again maybe with a smaller group and that seemed to be the key, anytime they have any questions they call me first before just making assumptions, overall everything well smoothly

Both of our cats have been going to Nicollet Veterinary Clinic since they were kittens -- they were neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated at the clinic when they were little, and they come back every year for their booster shots. Dr. Doug is usually the one who sees them. He's great with the animals -- even though they are terrified about being at the vet, he knows how to coax them out of their cage (canned cat food) and keep them content while he examines them and administers the shot. He makes it as stress-free as possible for the cat, and it's greatly appreciated. The veterinarians are on call 24 hours a day in case of emergencies, so if you do have an emergency after hours you just call the regular office number and leave a message and one of the vets will call you back within like 15 minutes. It's not as immediate as other vet clinics, but I did have (what I thought was) an emergency and the on-call veterinarian called me back within 5 minutes. One of our cats was often ill as a kitten, and on more than one occasion I called Nicollet Veterinary Clinic to ask if they could squeeze me in to the schedule for that day because the kitty wasn't eating, and the vet would always make time to see him. Like some of the other reviewers have said, it can be a bit of a pain driving 20 minutes out of town to get to the clinic, but it is well worth the drive! The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable -- I couldn't imagine taking my pets anywhere else.

I take my cat here on the advice of two of my friends; and I am very glad I took their advice! Not only does Shasta react well to their staff (and she's a very shy cat) and Doug Schauberger, but whenever I have questions they are happy to talk over the phone or squeeze her in if it's an emergency. Her yearly exam went well again this year, and even though the 20 minute drive from Mankato is kind of inconvienent, I'll gladly drive it if it makes going to the vet easier on my pet.

Breed discrimination: We used this facility twice. The first time, they told us that they would let our dog out to socialize with other dogs, although they were not certain whether they would use the large or small dog time since she is right on the weight border of 50 pounds. It turns out that they did not let her out with other animals at all. The second time, they told us bluntly that "her breed plays too rough", and she would not be allowed out with other animals. This is in spite of our first time there watching an aggressive golden retriever come straight from the large dog time to its owner. The dog in question growled and tried to lunge at our dog. She hid behind my legs for protection, but it is our dog that is too rough. I can understand the populace at large having prejudice to "bully breed" dogs and believing the misconceptions about such dogs being inherently aggressive, but I would, and do, expect better awareness from a professional animal handling service. The dog in question is intimidated by an 18 pound cat. We don't tolerate racism in humans, why should we do so against animals? If it were not for our NEED to have her taken care of while we were out of town, this lying to us to win our patronage, would have caused us to NOT leave her there.

As always it was a pleasant experience for both us and the dog. I only have experience with the male veterinarian at this clinic but I wouldn't take our dog anywhere else. He is always kind and compassionate. The technicians are always ready with treats...she enjoys going to the vet. I had her spayed there when she was a puppy and had a great experience. My dog is also prone to food allergies, rather than put her on medication for it right away he helped me find a food for her that she wouldn't react to. They are well worth the drive for the friendly service and great advice.

Personnel were great, knowledgeable, and attentive. Pricing was considerably higher than out previous veterinary hospital.
