    A. DeTomaso Construction LLC
In 2017 I took estimates for the possibility of doing a garage rebuild/bathroom addition. While the garage project did not happen, I did decide to do just the bathroom addition, I reached back out to Ron for an estimate to the revised project, based on a number of reasons. The project did take all of the summer, mostly due to an issue with the tub I have chosen not meeting the city inspector's criteria, and the new tub (MAXX Kashmir) had a lead time of several weeks. The site manager, Wes, was indeed, as promised "my best friend" all summer long. Both Ron and Wes listened well to any of my concerns, and as unexpected things came up (there was not a foundation for part of the area where we expected one to be in the original plan.... the plumber that was originally planned to be used had an accident that prohibited him doing that part of the job), I felt things were very well communicated and appropriately managed. I was also impressed with the main carpenter/builder, Wayne. He took extra care to period matching things like trim and the like (more so than I had considered), and was careful with his work. I added the siding to the addition project (which also lengthened the summer timeline), as it was a project that I was planning to do if I ever plan to sell the place, and the timing to get it done seemed right. And, while the timeline for that part of the project did not meet my expectation, the crew was very mindful of the details and did excellent work (the house was built in 1900, and the project involved removing stucco that had been installed over another layer of exterior siding, and there were some under-repairs needed). My end-feeling was glad to have the work done right instead of fast, dirty, and cheap. Today, several months after the final inspection, I am very happy with the whole experience.

    Bear Roofing & Exteriors
Working with Bear Roofing was one of the worst experiences of our life. I wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy. My husband and I had bought a house and the wood siding needed to be painted in order for the sale to go through. The sellers offered to put on new siding and pay a portion of it, so we agreed. They chose Bear Roofing to do it, so we had no say in choosing the company. Turns out the sellers realtor and the owner of Bear Roofing are brother and sister, so it was very convenient that Bear Roofing was chosen. Under the terms of the sale of the house, we as the buyers got to choose the color of the siding. We scheduled an appointment and went in to meet with Greg from Bear Roofing, told him we just wanted the house to be the same color it is now and brought a photo of the house to show him. Greg said it is too hard to choose siding color based on a photo and he HAD to go to the house one day with samples to find the best color match. We didnt really care that much, a simple beige color would have been fine. But Greg absolutely insisted. He said he would have something for us by the end of the week. Well the end of the week rolled around and we hadnt heard anything from Bear Roofing. I called and of course Greg wasnt available to talk so I left a message. A few days later we hadnt heard back, so I called again and again, Greg wasnt available. I expressed my extreme frustration at the situation- all we needed to do was pick a color! We were ready to do it at the first meeting and here two weeks had passed. The reception assured me they were working with the sellers to get a color picked out and everything would be fine. I then told her that we as the buyers were picking the color and she became very confused. She basically hung up on me and then a few hours later I received a message from Greg with a color choice. We then sent it to our realtor and almost immediately she responded and said that color Greg chose was way too dark. She said there was no way he actually went to the house and chose this color because it is way off. She said she would go to the house with her design team and pick a better matching color. Within a few hours she had sent us multiple pictures of samples and the color Greg picked looked nothing like the current color of the house. It was way darker! We ended up picking a color that closely matched the current color of the house and Bear Roofing was able to get the siding on the house before the closing date. We then moved in and the house looked great. However, we discovered that they took the window shutters off and never put them back on, which was disappointing because we liked them. They also took the address numbers off the house and never put them back on, so now we dont have an address on the house and that is another expense we need to pay for. Also, now that the snow is melting off our back deck there are giant staples and nails EVERYWHERE, which also means that they did not clean up after themselves. So we will need to clean our deck free of nails and staples before people in sandals or bare feet walk on it. The attached picture with the yellow circles indicate nails or staples laying on our deck. All in all it was a horrible experience and I have no idea how they are still in business. I would never use them again and I would never recommend them to anyone I know.

    Thor Anderson Contracting Inc
Thor talked with my insurance company personally and was able to coordinate payments for everything that needed fixing. He had the roof replaced for my house and detached garage, and replaced the siding for my house himself. All of the work went with few delays and the house looks great.

    Timberland Exteriors Inc
I could not find them at the address listed on their website. So, since I was in the parking lot of Mapleridge Center (which is where the website says they are located), I did a "live chat" with someone named Michelle. However, this is obviously not really a "live chat" since I received what appeared to be automatic answers and when I said I was already in that location and could she tell me what other business they were located next to, her response was simple "I'm sorry".

    Paramount Exteriors LLC
Paramount Exterior's owner, Jeremy Buschman, came to the house as scheduled to assess the job and provide an estimate for new windows throughout. The estimate was the most reasonable of those we solicited and I felt good about the interaction so we proceeded with the contract.
Jeremy kept us informed about the status of the order for the windows and arranged for us to make payments consistent with the stage of the job. I paid an initial amount to cover the cost of the windows based on current published material from the manufacturer that Jeremy provided. Some of the windows required a special order due to size, which increased the cost and completion time. The remaining payments were made over the next five weeks to complete the job before winter with the exception of the "wrap", which Paramount came back to complete in the early spring.
This is a good company: they came when they said they would come, they did the work they promised to do at the price they quoted, and they cleaned up after themselves. The owner, Jeremy Buschman, told me exactly what the job would involve and stayed in touch with me through completion of the job. We have had two winters with the new windows and the tenants are delighted. They are warm and the heating bills are much lower than they had been before the new windows.
I feel I must add that Jeremy is NOT a "smooth operator". He is a hard-working, fast, experienced, and determined professional and business owner. If you perceive him as having rough edges, be assured that I did too. But also be assured that I have found him to be an exceptionally dependable and honest contractor. I am very happy with the work and happy to recommend Paramount Exteriors and the owner, Jeremy Buschman.

    APEX Construction Management LLC

Overall the project went very well and was completed on time.  The project used some new materials and John's team had the experience and knowledge to integrate and produce a custom look for our house.  John was instrumental in suggesting and helping use make decisions to produce the look we envisioned.  I was very happy how they cleaned up after every work day much more than I expected for a project in process.  The team was very courteous and answered all my questions immediately or soon there after.  I also liked the daily in person or scheduled calls with John or Matt to catch up on the progress and next steps.  There were no surprises! Upon completion Matt walked us through a punch list to verify that all work was completed to our expectations.  We get many compliments from neighbors and visitors on the new makeover for our home.

John, Matt and the entire Apex team are really great to work with and provide top notch service.  I highly recommend them for your project!

    Storm Group Roofing LLC
I was extremely nervous going into this project ---a lot of work to be done and so a lot of money, and high stakes if if goes awry--and I really couldn't have been more impressed and just delighted with the outcome. Beautiful work conscientiously carried out by likable and highly competent, nice people. The office staff helpful, the owner involved in assuring expectations met, the team who did the work just superb at what they did, and they cleaned up meticulously every single day, not just at the end, removing nails and any and all debris so I could safely let my dogs out into the yard without worry. We especially were just so impressed with the working crew and their consideration and quality craftsmanship, both.
I thought the cost very reasonable and that based on research (I'm very much that kind of guy) and also finding my old roofing invoice from having it done in 1999 with lower quality 3 tab shingles at that time (different company). My roof is barnstyle and steep, hard to work onand has a tricky eyebrow dormer, and all of it looks just great. I was pleased with the care toward safety that the staff took as well, as it would be a nightmare to have anyone come to harm at my house.

    Direct Siding
Don did a great job and worked hard to make sure we were happy.  The color matching was difficult, but he worked hard to find something that matched the rest of the house.  The work was done well and the only trouble spot happened at a spot where our foundation has fallen a bit and therefore the house isn't level.  This made it hard to get the gutter to be installed in a manner that will let the water drain properly.  Don came back out to make sure it was working as best as it could.  Direct Siding did a great job.

    Twin Cities Siding Professionals
They were efficient, neat and helped me move a few heavier items. Very professional. Terry has also bid our townhouse association for siding which has been started in James Hardie product. The job requires special attention to detail and paint quality. We are hoping to have the funding to finish with the Hardie product.
