    Floyd Total Security
Frank was prompt, thorough and tidy. He would answer my questions or concerns with ease. The job did take much longer than the assessor said it would, but Frank explained why that was and was going to talk to the assessor about it.

They gave me a quote, but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind, so I didn't go ahead with them. I wanted security cameras that I can look at all day to see what was going on. But they only captured any film if there was movement. It wasn't a steady camera system that recorded all day. They told me they're going to have that eventually, but they don't right now. Their price wasn't bad. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it was going to be. It also includes an alarm system on all your doors, and I've got a lot of doors. It also included other features. They were actually here installing it when we realized the cameras didn't do what I wanted. They had to stop installing it. That could be my fault, not explaining well what I wanted. I don't want to blame them. They're very professional and very prompt. I actually still use them for my phone, TV and internet.

After recent break-ins in the neighborhood, I decided to get a home security system.  I reviewed a lot of information on the internet and settled on FrontPoint.  When I called about my order, I mentioned that I had seen some coupons on Angie's list.  The representative asked about my home's floor plan and we talked through which sensors should go where.  After we established what the needs of our home was, the representative was able to customize one of the coupons from Angie's list to fit the needs of my home.  This saved us a bundle!  The package arrived faster than quoted.  The self-install instructions were very well done.  I put together all of the components and called to setup my system.  During that call, I found out that one of the sensors wasn't communicating with the control panel -- FrontPoint shipped me a new one (arrived in 2 days) and had return labeling for the bad sensor.  The actual setup was really easy and the representative answered all of my questions.  Since my spouse was out of town, the representative scheduled a meeting to re-review the setup a few days later when she returned.  We have both setup the mobile app to control the panel and find the whole system really easy to use.

After contacting five other providers and having them come out to my home, review my needs and offer their recommendations for a good security system, we chose Xfinity Home Security.
They were thorough in their analysis and provided a true state of the art system that will run even if your power goes out or your cable is cut by an intruder (the system runs on battery back up for 24 hours and connects via cellular instead). Plus you get a total touch screen (like a small iPad) next to your bed, or were ever you want it, with 3 emergency buttons you could hit in the night (Police, Fire and Ambulance).
You can run your whole system with your mobile device or computer remotely from anywhere and can turn on or off any part of your system room by room if you want... many companies claimed this but upon closer examination they couldn't deliver including ADT. Also there is absolutely no lag time or delay between your device and the system, unlike many others (some people were complaining about having to wait 10 to 15 minuets to get into their house).
Everybody is going to charge you something for the use of their equipment, but Xfinitiy's was less, especially for what we got. No one else could provide security for our garage because of the cold in the winter, but Xfinity could. Plus they only charged $29.95 a month for the first 2 years $39.95 for the third year... half the price of most others. After which you own the system and can negotiate a low monthly rate.
Several companies knocked Xfinity's equipment though they didn't know what they used and said it was some foreign product (they use Honeywell by the way).
We have only had the system for a few weeks now... so far no glitches and we are feeling a lot safer.

For the service I did actually receive, I would have given them an A, but I give them a B because I was going to change providers before I actually got the help I needed. I had called to upgrade my service. They had made an appointment for a salesman to come out. They double-booked the appointment, so they bumped me to the following Saturday. He never showed up and he never called. I called about the missed appointment and was told an Account Manager would call me back. No one ever called back. There is a lot of competiton and a lot of good deals out there. So I called to cancel the service to go with another provider. It was at that point I was contacted by an Account Manager. From that point she followed through on everything, the tech was there to install when he said he would be. He was very friendly, yet professional, and very knowledgeable. The Account Manager then followed up to make sure I was satisfied.

    Floyd Total Security
I called Floyd Total Security because we weren't happy with our current alarm company. After I explained to the gal at Floyd what we had & what we wanted to do, she sent John out to see if they could take over the system. They could...all we had to do was pay for a cell link which was $129.00. I called the office after John left & spoke with Karin. I told her we want to go with their company. She emailed the paperwork to me, I signed it & faxed it back to her. The appt. for the installation of the cell link, which was a 4G, & taking over the system was set. John was the gentleman that did the install. He was efficient, courteous & knowledgeable as was Karin. We are very pleased we went with this company. Thank you Karin & John. Thank God for Angie's list!

The quote was around $2000. We had to go back and forth a little bit about what system we needed initially, because they had proposed using motion sensors in the house, which would be great when there is no one around, but not so great when we are sleeping because we are night time wanderers. So we had to add some other coverage to make sure that at night we were okay when we locked ourselves in and turned on the alarm. They were very responsive and very nice. We will use them.

The installer was prompt and did a great job. He cleaned up everything well afterwards. However, we had a door sensor that began to fail after about a week. We called to have it serviced and were given a date and time to expect the repairman. On the date of the service the repairman called to tell us he was running late. He ended up not being able to come. This was frustrating since I had taken the day off for the service repair and I was told that they could not send someone on a Saturday for the repair. Ultimately, the problem was resolved and a repair person came out on a Saturday so that I did not have to take another day off. Outside of this incident, the rest of the installation went fine.

Other than a bit of confusion as to the time the install would be done, it went fine. The work was completed by two techs in about 4 hours. They did the work efficiently, left no mess, etc. We ended up adding an additional motion detector at the suggestion of the tech doing the install (which accounted for a slight increase in cost over the original price).

Allyson Conti did the initial estimate and was very thorough. I met with two other companies to compare cost and service. John, the technician, did an excellent job and explained how the system worked at the end. I have been very satisfied with the service so far. I can't tell the final cost yet.
