    We decided to go with North Star Fence based on what we were hearing about the quality of materials and the fact that they use experienced, long-term workers. We were pleased that they were flexible in taking on extra work in removing and hauling away the existing fence. We had an overhang attached to the fence and they removed that at no extra charge. All the workers were very skilled in their jobs and offered options on installation that improved the look and durability of the fence. I highly recommend this company.

    There were many schedule delays (ultimately a 2-month delay) and the company did a poor job of communicating these changes to us. They would set a date to come out and the date would pass with no word. The product itself was great and the people were friendly. They just didn't communicate well about the schedule.

    Overall I feel the biggest problem is that each department (sales, office, installers) all work in silos and have no idea what the other departments can do, so even though I do like my fence, I'm a very unhappy customer and don't recommend them. Multiple times things that were described as easy and straightforward turned into very convoluted problems that delayed the entire project. The fence looks great and I'm happy with it, but it was very complicated to get everything in place for the motorized gate and I did a LOT of legwork (calling multiple electricians and the installer people from the fence company myself) which was frustrating. More recently, I asked them to switch out my gate lock to something that my 2 year old could not open by himself, was told that there's an easy solution. They asked me to pay in full IN ADVANCE (???) which made me pretty uncomfortable, then never called me back. Finally got the work scheduled, and the installer could tell within 10 seconds that the latch switch wasn't possible. After relaying this back to the office, it's taken multiple phone calls to sort it out and I still have yet to talk to their customer service manager, who was "going to call me" for 2 weeks now and I haven't heard from him.

    Bottom line: the fence is nice and as far as I can tell is well installed. If you are looking for care and attention to detail, and quality customer service, however, this is not the company I would recommend. I picked them based on mostly positive reviews, price being comparable to my other bid, and they could do the work sooner. I think the fence itself is nice. My complaint is regarding a lack of attention to detail, and customer service mediocre at best. The contract specified that the dirt from the post holes would be placed in one spot (so I could put it where I wanted). Instead, without asking me, they spread it around my garden. The problem is that the soil is heavy clay and was laid across perennials that can't grow through it. Worse, it was put on some of my neighbor's garden as well. Also, they did not fill the holes from the previous fence posts. For the amount of money paid, I would expect much better attention to detail. This work was done in late fall, and I (and my neighbor) found these problems in early spring, when we went out to start working in the garden. The response I got when I told the company was a questioning of why I hadn't pointed it out earlier, rather than an apology and acknowledgement that the fault was not mine but theirs. They did send the work crew out eventually. This is how I experienced them: first they just walked in the yard with their shovel without knocking on my door; when I went out to talk to them, their reaction was clear: this is a waste of our time; they left again without talking to me; I went outside and wondered if they were done, since some post holes were still unfilled and there had been little attempt to remove the clay soil from the gardens. But they never came back so I deduced that was the end of it. I was just sorely disappointed with the attitude, and especially of the crew.

    Curtis, the owner, was polite and professional throughout the process.  He helped me brainstorm ideas and came back with a very fair price.  There was no "up sell" - just a reasonable list of options and a quick response time.  His crew were pleasant and efficient and I am very happy with how everything looks.

    The installers were prompt and professional. The fence is great. My only complaint is with the office staff who did not seem to communicate with the installers and were fairly terse in their communication with me. I was told to pay the installers who were surprised to hear that and would not take my check. When I contacted the office, they sent me a very abrupt invoice and letter demanding payment.

    My phone call was responded to first - within a day or two.  I was told I couldn't be helped before the end of the season.  However, he didn't even ask me what my project was.  I think he thought I wanted a fence built.  Nope. Already have a fence, just want to see how much it would be to stain it. 
    My email wasn't replied to for about a week.  Then he was offering to come out and offer a bid.  I told him I spoke to him on the phone last week and told me I couldn't be helped.

    They were lower than the other contractor in price.  The work was done quickly and professionally and it looks great.  What wasn't so great was the office communications.  The letter they sent out after I signed the contract was dictatorial and abrupt in tone.  The communication about who I was supposed to pay (the installers of the posts and then of the fence) were not informed that they were to take my checks and the fence installer refused.  I ended up mailing the final payment to the company.  That, in itself, was not a problem but to be told, in writing, that I had to give the check to the installer before they would do the work and then having them puzzled by being asked to take the check  was disconcerting and seemed slipshod to me.

    We have nothing but praise for the way that Premier fencing, and in particular Ted, and Misty helped us.  From the first interaction with Ted, to the final follow up call from Premier fencing the entire experience was 100% positive.  The efficiency, care, professionalism, quality and follow through was something that we felt that we could just dream of, but Premier fencing were all of this and then some.  I had read a few reviews on the web about Premier fencing and I would like to wholeheartedly recommend them for their attention to detail and care.  We really appreciate the whole experience and wish that we had done this sooner.  Thank you so much for all that you have done to give us a bit more peace of mind.
