Great - they did an excellent job. He communicated well about timing and expectations to finish the project. It turned out really well. They did a good job cleaning up all the mess, too!

I know I did not have any work done. However, I was very impressed with their estimate work up and professionalism. It was very close between the contractor we hired and Craftsman. We have a wood sided front of our home and will be calling only Craftsmans Choice to do the siding next spring. So, if you are in need of any of the services that Craftmans Choice provides, I would give the a call for one of your estimates. They adjusted schedules to get my estimate sooner and I would recommend asking for Matt.

We had a fantastic experience with Dave and his crew. From the estimate to the last piece of siding, everything went smoothly! The entire experience was characterized by friendly, professional, and thorough communication, and meticulous, high quality, energetic work. Our house is completely transformed and we couldn't be happier with the process and final product! Thank you.

We are so pleased with our recent garage siding and exterior home painting project completed on our 1947 cape cod in St. Louis Park. From our first interaction with Keith at the State Fair, to our final walk-through with Ben, we knew we were dealing with professionals who had our best interest and satisfaction set as priorities (thank you to Ryan, Cyndal and the rest of the team also!). They gave us a fair price from the beginning without a long, dragged out sales pitch and promised quality and attentiveness, which they delivered on every step of the way. It's now such a joy to come home to our beautiful house each day! We are very happy we chose Craftsman's Choice and we highly recommend their services. There are many options out there, so we are thankful to have finally found a first choice for our home improvement needs.

Tell us the story from start to finish (10,000 character limit): 14 MONTHS TO COMPLETION In 2018 I visited with the JamesHardie siding people about residing my house with the cement shingle product. They recommended Craftsman's Choice and after looking at other vendors decided to use them for the project. My house had a lot of the original cedar shakes which needed to be ripped off, house wrapped, etc. The workers on the job were fantastic and did excellent work, and I would give them an A for the project... the office staff, sales people, project manger, etc. I would give a C which was the final impression left by their company with me. I'm not far from needing a new roof so you would think they would bend over backwards to keep me happy and get future business. When I met with the project manager he advised me that they would go with a small dumpster to fit in the driveway, instead a huge dumpster was delivered that had to go on the lawn and totally blocked the sidewalk. My multiple calls to the project manager requesting some sort of bridge over the flower beds was ignored. When I called during the project questioning a strange colored panel on the house, I never got a call back and when next I saw him I asked why he didn't return my call and all he said was what call? These are two examples of my frustrations with dealing with their company. One of my few requests for the project was for it to be done before the snow flew in 2018. I was repeated reassured that this would be the case and that the job would start in August. No one called to let me know about delays and after multiple calls I was told things were delayed... the job started in October and while the shakes were up in October, they couldn't do paining touch ups, fix broken items, etc. under 2019. Go figure, THE very last thing done on the project was the painting of the odd panel on July 7th, 2019.

Sixteen Months was the time it took for Craftsman’s Choice to complete my siding project, from contract signing until they finally finished painting the last bits of trim. The shingles on my house were in rough shape and needed painting once again. Thirty years ago I had replaced some with new cedar shakes but they were already starting to fail so I was looking for something different. While at the Mpls home show, I talked to the JamesHardie siding people and liked their option. Their product solved all my problems for replacement and permanent color, etc. The only drawback I can really see with their product are the color options. My house was a very nice green; the JamesHardie product comes in either a dark green or a light green with nothing in-between. I chose the light green option which isn’t the best, maybe if the sales folks had shown up with the promised shingle samples I would have made another choice. The installation folks at Craftsmen are the best; thorough, hardworking and exacting in their work and I would rank them at an A+. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff at Craftsmen really were awful. It started out on day one when Mike the salesman first showed up but didn’t bring along the colored shingles that the Hardie folks said he would. Most of my requests for additional information were replied with a “sorry this took so long” before getting an answer. One of the things I was most wanted done was the completion of the siding project by the end of 2018, I hate never ending projects. Mike told me that they would likely start the end of August and that I would be called in July with an update. By the end of July, I still hadn’t heard from anyone so I called to get an update. At the end of August I had to call again for an additional updates since no one had bothered to advise me of delays in the project. Again in September I was the one calling and asking for an update. Finally the project started the first week of October… and I was told it would take 2-3 weeks to complete, it took a month. The site manager, Ryan finally made a site visit the end of July. We discussed various parts of the project and we discussed that due to the shortness of my driveway and the narrow street I live on, he would be ordering a smaller dumpster to fit in my driveway. Imagine my surprise when the dumpster finally arrived in October to discover that Ryan had forgotten about the smaller dumpster and ordered a huge monster that was longer then my garage. The only place the dumpster people could put it was in a section of lawn next to my driveway… it smashed into my bushes, gouging the lawn and totally covered my sidewalk. I called and left 2 messages for Ryan telling him about the problem and that he needed to come up with some sort of planks to bridge over my flowerbed and the rocks around it so his people could get into the yard without difficulty. Ryan never called back and didn’t show up until the afternoon that the workers started on the project, by that point my flowerbed had been totally stomped. No apologies for the mess and damage and WHAT a safety hazard! I and any visitors had to balance on top of the rocks every time I went in and out of my yard. Communications continued to be iffy. Calls weren’t returned, updates weren’t given, and timeframes weren’t kept. During the project I asked if they could help take down a storm window so I could fix the glazing compound and paint it and was told no problem, they would happily help me out. After asking 5 times I just gave up. If they had said up front, no I’m sorry, we can’t help with that, I would have not been left feeling so irritated. When I called during the project questioning a strange colored panel on the house, I never got a call back and when next I saw Ryan, I asked why he didn't return my call and all he said was what call? When I asked about the trim he said, oh… that will be painted later. These are two examples of my frustrations with dealing with their “project management”. And so went the project. Finally in October 2018, the siding itself was completed but repairs of items broken during the project and the painting of trim etc. weren’t completed and I was told they would come back in the spring. Finally early in 2019, after I again had to do the calling, the painter showed up and the broken bits were fixed but the painter left undone the odd colored trim on the house. More waiting and Ryan came back and painted it. Go figure, THE very last thing done on the project was the painting of the odd panel on July 7th, 2019.

We had our Masonite Siding replaced with Hardyboard just over 10 years ago. Craftsmen did a wonderful job and the siding has held up extremely well. The one area where the Hardyboard started to degrade was where the water was running from the roof directly onto the Hardyboard. This was because we had our roof replaced several years ago with a different company and the other company did not place adequate rain diverters/flashing on the roof to prevent leakage onto the Hardyboard of our home. Lesson here- we should have had Craftsmen do our roof as well - what were we thinking?! Anyway, we reached out to Craftsmen to see if they would be willing to fix the Hardyboard that had degraded even though it was another roofer's job that caused the issue. Craftsmen again was willing to come out and take a look - they promptly replaced the degrading boards and were even willing to count the job as under their warranty without charge! It is refreshing to deal with a company like Craftsmen who we can trust and who we know will back up their work for years later - and in this case even fix a small problem that was another contractor's issue. Excellent work Craftsmen - highly recommended!
