Well & Water Pump Repair reviews in Hopkins

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Following two days of constant rain we discovered that our sump pump motor died which left 1/4" of water on the basement floor. It was a Sunday so we called to get emergency assistance since the water just kept coming up faster than my husband good bucket out. The service rep for Weld was finishing another a job and was able to help us two hours later. He immediately identified the problem and replaced the motor with a new motor which immediately started pumping the water to our backyard. We have not had any other problems since. I've used Weld often over many years and as usual, this employee knew what he was doing, was quick to fix it and a pleasure to work with. This is a great company.

  • First let me tell you the good.  CBS was very good about scheduling, I even dropped the ball on the appointment after asking them to come out quickly.  The person that came out was very prompt and polite.  Now the bad, when I called the sales person(my wife was at home during the inspection), the first thing he asked me was "what is your budget for this?".  I don't know about any other homeowner but when water is showing up in your finished basement your budget doesn't exist, the response is I need the water to stop ruining my home.  That should have been my first "red flag", so as I hear about what it will take to fix the issue, I ask him are you sure the water is coming from the foundation and if I pay you $5,000 to install a sump pump and the drain tile, am I promised the issue will be fixed?  The answer, well "no".  Ok that is strange, so I ask more questions, and come to find out he doesn't even know what the issue is but he was sure to have me pay $5,000 the problem would go away until I asked him if I was guaranteed to have the issue fixed, then he told me no.  So I contact another provider on Angie's List, they come over and tell me they are 99% sure the issue isn't from the foundation and to call a plumber, so I do and guess what he was correct.  Total fix on the issue was less than $500.

So buyer beware when dealing with these guys, actually I am disappointed with Angie's list that a provider like this even has a profile.

  • They did a good job and the price was competitive.  I would give them a B+ and I would use them again as well as recommend them.  They finished the work in about a week and they did a good job cleaning up everything.

  • The guys were very friendly and responsive. They drained my water heater and said there wasn't much sediment in it. It took about 5 minutes. Then they asked if I wanted them to look at anything else. I had them check out my sump pump, which they sort of did. They didn't put water in it or anything but they did look inside and reported that it looked like everything was hooked up all right. I was worried because I had never heard it pump in the 6 or so years we've had it. Since then I've seen it pump out water, thanks to the heavy rains this summer! So the guys were right: it was hooked up correctly.
So, all in all, the Big Deal was ok, except it didn't really include a "comprehensive plumbing inspection."  I guess the guys would have done that if it'd remembered to ask about it. Not sure I should have to ask, though. To their credit, they did offer to look at any other plumbing issues in the house. They looked at one of my sinks, and confirmed that the faucet was slowly leaking in the back. Of course, the cost for them to fix any of these problems was not included in the Big Deal, so it was more of a diagnostic service.
  • Called in a panic. Gladly paid to be put to the top of the service list. Sump pump broke and we were struggling to keep the water at bay to keep our basement from flooding. Mark arrived promptly installed a new pump and we are better than new.

  • These guys are the best.  Without a doubt the fairest, most knowledgeable, most careful, and nicest people.  They are what we expect when we call someone for all our plumbing needs.  If there was a grade higher than an "A" I would give it.  I had two other plumbers estimate this work (top rated on Angies List).  Both of them proposed solutions that would involve cutting into my ceiling.  When I called Weld and Sons for an estimate, Don (the owner) came out and looked throughout the downstairs to come up with an innovative solution that avoided any cutting in the ceiling. He was here for almost an hour exploring and then gave me a very fair estimate.
This is my second job with them and they are quickly becoming my "go-to" plumbers.  A++++  guys!

  •  Overall, things went well except that I thought they should have sealed the hole around the pipe which still sticks up about 6 inches in the pump room, but they said no.  So now we will have to do that with concrete or something.

  • Called one morning and said I needed it done before my patio was put in the next day. They pulled the well that afternoon and sealed it the next morning.  Fantastic!  Couldn't have been any more responsive.

  • Travis confirmed that the pipe and sump pump connection had come apart....probably from the water in the pipe freezing over the winter. He repaired it quickly...he was here less than an hour. He also gave me some tips about how to disconnect the outside pipe next fall to avoid this problem in the future. I just joined Angie's List. This was my first time finding and using someone I looked up on the list. I feel so good that now I have a plumber I actually can always call and trust. That means a lot to me.

  • My well stopped working the night before I was to go out of town. I called Bergerson-Caswell after checking the list. They were able to get out to my house that day to fix the control box for my well. The tech, sorry but I have forgotten his name, also explained some steps I can take to avoid this problem in the future. I was very impressed with the service.
