I hired Roof-to-Deck Restoration for a two part job: restain the deck and powerwash the paver patio under the deck. The patio is about 12'x20' or so. The main goal was that it needed jointing sand and I needed the moss, grass, ant mounts removed along with a gernal cleaning. I infomed them of my intent prior to sending money or anything and they affirmed that the power washing would definitely prep the patio to the point where jointing sand could be applied. Upon completion, the patio was mostly good but there were spots that needed additional work. Not ideal but not a big enough of a deal as I could take care of them myself. The deck (which sits above the patio) desperately needed to be power washed and re-stained. It is a fairly small deck (10'x10' or so). The quote was a little high but I was OK with it as I was presuming they were a top notch company based on reviews. They first came out and power washed/cleaned the deck of the old stain. They had left some pretty large portions that still had stain on them. I contacted them and they commented that they were in fact big and someone came out and cleaned those areas again. The next step was to stain the deck which went well. There were areas that had a significant amount more of stain than the others and other areas that looked like it was barely even touched. Overall it looks good, but knowing about the variation in the amount of stain used in areas hinders my overall opinion of it. Upon completion, I noticed that there were numerous areas puddles of stain on the paver patio that lies under my deck from where the stain dripped from the above deck. Most of them were small (1"-2" in diameter), but they were everywhere. In addition, there were two large areas, one about 12" in diameter and another one that was probably the equivalent of 14-16" in diameter (it was an oblong shape). I informed them of this and they mentioned that they would be sending someone out to clean the stains. They ended up coming out 4 times to try and clean the stains (along with me power washing) but they are still noticeable. The patio bricks look much more worn than the rest of the patio due to the cleaners they have used as well. The manager finally stopped out to take a look at the stains. The overall summary was to just let them sit and hope that they come out over the winter: not exactly what I was wanting to hear. After all is said and done, the deck mainly looks very nice with some areas that could have used more attention. The patio stains though will be a reminder though that I won't hire them again the future.

In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete an extensive remodeling project (attached garage, master bathroom, bedroom conversion into a walk-in closet and 2nd floor laundry room, new driveway, backyard brick patio, siding for the entire house, exterior window painting and, repairs on a number of deferred-maintenance items within the house). Ron Burgess was the project manager. Northrup Remodeling did an outstanding job. More specifically, Ron Burgess and all of the subcontractors that he assigned to the project were professional, courteous, dedicated and delivered a product that exceeded my expectations in a number of instances. Ron worked tirelessly behind the scenes to coordinate all of the work, was incredibly responsive to all my questions and, provided me with invaluable advice and insight. In a number of instances, Rons insight and advice spared me from wasting money on unnecessary work and yielded aesthetic outcomes that were better than I could have imagined. / / / / / / / / / DETAIL / / / / / / In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete the following: Tear down a detached two car garage and rebuild an attached two car garage in its place; Tie the new garage into a pre-existing mudroom (entailed a small expansion of the existing mudroom); Full demolition and rebuild of the master bathroom; Conversion of a bedroom into a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a second floor laundry room; One window replacement; Installation of new siding on the entire house; Exterior painting of all windows, chimneys and brick facade; Replacement of brick driveway with a concrete driveway; Removal and reinstallation of brick patio in the back of the house; Demolition and replacement of front brick walkway; Repair of deferred-maintenance items (railing and balusters, screen door, foyer tile and grout lines, door handles, interior doors, kitchen sink, cabinet drawers, etc.) Interior construction concluded by January 2018. Following a break for winter, the remaining exterior work was completed by July 2018. Ron Burgess was the Northrup supervisor for the entire project. My experience with Northrup was fantastic and working with Ron was a joy. Ron brought to bear the skills and abilities of subcontractors that provided a high level of quality work and professionalism. At the outset of the project, Ron set out a timetable for the start and expected completion dates for each part of the project. Ron started the project on time and kept everything moving along so that the project finished within expectations. Moreover, any time I had a question, Ron was readily available and promptly addressed any issues to my full satisfaction. Ron also brought to bear the expertise of Kathleen Winter (interior designer) and Richard Groh (architect). Ron, Kathleen and Richard worked extraordinarily well together during the project. In every instance, they were able to suggest great ideas, integrate the goals/desires I had for the finished product and, most important, they dissuaded me from making certain design/material choices that I now realize would have been a huge mistake. Throughout the entire project, I was very impressed with the subcontractors Ron selected for the work. In every one of my interactions with the subcontractors, I found them to be professional, courteous, excited about their work and committed to delivering an outcome that in many instances surpassed my expectations. When each subcontractor started their part of the project, they stayed on the project until it was completed in a number of instances, working far later in the day than I would have reasonably expected or, working on the weekends.

Joe and his crew from Metro Chimney and Masonry did an amazing job. He did an initial inspection of the work at hand, provided us a detailed estimate, set out exceptions for the project and took time to answer our questions. Though Metro Chimney wasn't the cheapest overall, they were the most thorough and had the best strategy on how to tackle the many issues that needed corrected in our 1950s rambler. And given the fact that Metro Chimney was able to do all the work internally, vs hiring outside contractors, we knew we were in good hands. The crew did an outstanding job matching the existing brick and in the finer points of their craftsmanship. When they were all finished, they cleaned up so well we had to hint they were ever there. At the completion of the project, Joe did a walk-around with me and answered all of the additional questions I had about proper care and maintenance. I cannot stress enough the incredible value, craftsmanship and professionalism of Metro Chimney and Masonry and highly recommend them to anyone looking for high-quality masonry work.

My home was recently sided with James Hardie siding by Craftsman Home Improvements and I highly recommend them based on the job they did and the final product. They quality of their work, timeliness, an excellent crew that worked extremely hard during some of this summer's highest temps and humidity and the clean-up each day was outstanding. I would certainly use Craftsman again if I have a need for other services that they provide.

Jason contacted me and we set up a time frame for a specific day. I was home the entire day but no one showed up. I text and emailed but never got a response. I was very disappointed because Jason contacted me very soon after I searched on Angie's List and his ratings were excellent, so I assumed it would be a good experience.

Rooster Exteriors is every terrible contractor clich rolled into one. Do not hire them unless you want a super frustrating experience. I hired them to replace my soffit and facia on my home. I chose them because their salesman seemed nice and said they could start the work the following week and be done in three days. A clever trick. I then spent the next six weeks wondering if I had just fallen for some kind of scam. I would text them, call them, leave messages and get constant lies and misdirection. They would answer just enough to make me think the work was about to start but it never did. A classic case of a contractor taking 50% down and then disappearing so you are held hostage. The ONLY reason they actually responded and started to work was because we put a negative review on Yelp. Once they saw that, they immediately responded and started working. But it took them 10 weeks to get done what they originally quoted me would take 2 weeks or less. They left the yard FILTHY with insulation, nails, and shingle debris that we had to clean ourselves. The install of the soffit and facia seems adequate but the details are sloppy and inconsiderate. All the caulking lines along the joints were done with a shaky finger wiping along them and are so sloppy they look like my 3 year old kid was in charge. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. I am surprised they have even managed to stay in business this long.

I recently had Guardian Chimney Solutions install a chimney cap. Not only did they do that, but they were also able to do a quick analysis of my chimney and provide recommendations for future work. They were not pushy in terms of getting this additional work done, only providing details on what it meant and what could happen in the future. I would definitely work with Guardian Chimney Solutions again in the future.

Joe was very responsive and got the job done quickly. Throughout the process, I was informed of timeline and provided photos. The crew was very conscientious and kept the job very tidy. We were having paintwork done at the same time, and the guys went above and beyond to make sure they didn't affect any of that. I would certainly recommend Guardian Chimney to family/friends.

We had a wonderful experience with Andy and Jesse. They listened to us carefully and came back with a beautiful design totally customized to our needs and desires. When it came time to implement, the whole team was professional and skilled. And when we had a few last minute changes they displayed flexibility and creativity. We are very pleased with our new front yard and plan to hire Beds and Borders to help us transform our backyard next year.

Rich and his team were awesome. AWESOME. Rich was so thorough in his estimates, so friendly to our family (he remembered our little girl's name on his second visit!), and his team did simply outstanding work. I dreaded the whole project b/c it was BIG and I thought it would become a hassle because of the scope of the work, but Rich made it a pleasant and low-key experience with high quality work. He is simply outstanding. We are delighted with our new exterior.
