This week they tuned up my Simplicity snowblower and adjusted the forward and reverse speeds within 2 days. They don't try to sell you things you don't need. Give them a chance, they won't let you down.

  • I purchased tune ups for my lawn mower and snow blower for approximately $180.00. Late on March 16th I received an email from Jim of Twin City Small Engine asking if I could confirm a scheduled appointment time of April 3 between 11 and 2. On March 17 I replied to the email and confirmed that time and provided the make and model of my mower and snow blower as requested. On April 3 I placed the mower and snow blower outside as requested. It takes some work to do that as the mower is in the back in a shed and I need to get out plywood and place it on stairs and then push the mower up the stairs and then bring it to the front yard. The same needs to be done with the snow blower. I scheduled my day around this appointment and spend all morning and part of the afternoon at home due to the scheduled appointment. When the Jim did not appear for the appointment, the next day I contacted Angie’s list and asked for assistance in getting the work rescheduled. I also used Angie’s list messaging system to contact Jim to let him know he had missed the appointment. He replied through Angie’s list that he had never hear back from me to his March 16th email and offered to schedule something for this week. On April 4 I sent an email to Jim letting him know that I had replied to his March 16 email and provided him with a copy of it. I also confirmed he could come the next day to do the work and asked him to reply and confirm. When I did not hear from him, I tried to contact Jim at TC Small Engine to see if I could get the time confirmed for the work. The next morning, I had not heard from Jim confirming the time for the work so I left a voice mail message on Wed. morning before business hours. I then called him again during business hours when I didn’t get a response to my voice mail message. Jim answered, said he was sorry about the miscommunication and agreed to come out between 11 and noon that day April 5 to do the work between 11 and noon. I again had to get the mower and snow blower out of the shed as described above and put them in the front of the house. Jim then sent a message through Angie’s list saying he was cancelling the appointment because I was not “a good fit.” I called Jim and he answered. I told him I again had move everything out of storage and to the front yard and would appreciate knowing why he had cancelled and why I was not a good fit. He replied that I had that I had failed to confirm the Monday appointment, I had contacted Angie’s list for assistance in rescheduling the appointment, and he that is why he did not think me a good fit and he suggested I get a refund. I then sent a message through Angie’s List messaging system to Jim again attaching the 3/17 email I had sent confirming the appointment so he could understand I had replied. He wrote back (even after seeing a copy of the email) that I had not replied to any of his communications. He then questioned whether I was trying to receive the service for free or at a discount (I had already pre-paid for the service). Suffice it to say I would never recommend Twin City Small Engine to my friends or ever want them to enter my property or service my equipment after this troubling episode.

  • Excellent. I talked to them immediately and they picked up my snowblower the same day. They under-promised and over delivered. I expected work to be performed in 7-14 days, but they had it fixed and delivered back to me in just a few days. They said they knew a big snowstorm was coming, so wanted to ensure that I had the snowblower back before the snow hit. Fast, friendly service. Really nice guys.

  • It was picked up and returned in a few days, right when a snow storm was expected.  It worked beautifully the next day, and I appreciated a little education he gave me about the snowblower.  I really appreciated this company and the work done for me.  I would use them again and highly recommend them.

  • He turned the repair around in one day so he was very good. The service cost was very reasonable. The quality of the service is very good. They don't have a web site; it is kind of a mom and pop operation, but are very professional and have a phone machine for messages.

  • Went in thinking the carburetor was in bad shape (since that is what another place told me).  They could have told me they cleaned the carburetor and charged me $80, and I  wouldn't have known the difference.  Instead they were honest and only did the simple fix that was actually wrong with it!  Turns out the air vane was on the wrong side of the thermostat.  (my guess is that  the other place they threw the engine back together wrong when I refused the $180 carburetor replacement).  They also tweaked the blade rpm and my lawnmower cuts better than when I first got it brand new.

  • It was outstanding. I dropped my mower off Tuesday after work. Rick was very busy and estimated 5-7 days to complete the job as many others were ahead of me. 24 hours later he called and told me the mower was ready. He said since it was a quick fix for him he got it done while waiting on some parts to deliver. The mower has never run better and it looked brand new! Will only use Rick for small engine issues in the future.

  • I am a do-it-yourselfer when possible but occasionally I run into something I cannot figure out. I was cleaning the carburetor on my snowblower and took it apart. Unfortunately I could not get it back together and thought I lost a tiny part. I called a few places which had long wait times or did not have the part I needed. Cedar was totally different. They said bring the carburetor in and since it was a very small job they could do it between bigger jobs as time permitted.
    The people at the counter were very friendly and didn't laugh at me for not being able to fix it. The man helping me said he could look at it and get the part so it would not have to go back to the repair shop. When he brought the part in I asked if he could put it together and he said no problem. Within 15 minutes he had it fixed and I was out the door for the price of the part.
    Perhaps I got lucky that the showroom wasn't full of customers but I know I would go back there ever time I have a small engine that doesn't work. Their friendliness and customer service was perfect. I wish all businesses could be like them.
