    We did a major house project with Timberland Exteriors (replaced siding, doors and many windows) We have never done a large scale project like this and it was scary to think about spending that kind of money. We could not have had a better experience from beginning to end. Paul is so knowledgeable, low key, has a great sense of humor and was great to work with. He has lots of experience, good ideas and a great computer program that allows you to see what different doors, siding colors and window styles will look like on your home. He set us up on a group text between Paul, the project manager Gary and my husband and I. Their communication was amazing-always prompt and any concerns we had were immediately addressed. Phone calls and emails were also responded to quickly.The crews that worked on our house (different crew for windows and doors and another for siding) were friendly, conscientious and had an amazing attention to detail. We are thrilled with how everything turned out and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Timberland Exteriors for your next house project.

    Trustworthy Glass
    The installed glass carries a long warranty. Labor is only for a year. I therefore expected that Andy would arrange to replace the defective glass, and I would pay the labor charge. Andy's examination of the defective glass led him to conclude that this was a manufacturing defect and that he would lean on his supplier to replace the glass for no charge at all. That he did, wjile it took him several calls to get the supplier finally to come out. Andy's persistence paid off for us. I previously gave Trustworthy the highest possible grades on two projects they have done for my family. I add this one to show that they do live up to their promises and are, indeed, TRUSTWORTHY!

    Overall, the project went very well, We are happy with the quality of the work and the result. The plans were creative, and we were happy with the design selections and guidance. There were a few unexpected changes to layout due to structural constraints, which resulted in a less efficient flow. The cost of change orders were not clearly explained prior to execution. The contractor was very hands on and at the job site extensively, and she was easy to get a hold of. The carpenter was not available to work on the project on Fridays, which did extend the project timeline. The contractor pointed out repairs/improvements that needed to be made to bring the home up to code. This added cost, but was necessary and appreciated.

    I called Tom the afternoon before and he was able to squeeze me in on short notice the next day. Tom and his team showed up early (they called an hour or so before to make sure it was ok that they came early), and replaced the service door to my newly constructed garage. The contractor that built the garage did not install the original service door correctly, so it leaked badly when it rained or got sprayed by my sprinklers. Tom and his team pulled the old door out, made sure to prep the space properly, and installed the new door properly with sealant in any areas where water could try to seep through. They even trimmed out the inside of the door with some trim I had in the garage for the baseboards. I would definitely not hesitate to hire Tom and Lake Region again.

    Chris always responds back promptly to Angie's List messages. He kept me up to date on when he would be out and would tell me many days before he did so. That made it easy for me to plan. He upgraded some sliding closet doors that were worn out and very noisy. He was able to keep the wood doors themselves and reworked the sliding mechanism with new hardware. They work great and make little noise. He has done work for us before and he always pays attention to details and is reasonably priced. After the work is done he cleans up very well. If I have another project I would not hesitate to call on him again.

    In brief: Do not use Builders & Remodelers for your home improvement project. Communication is terrible and, I believe, prices are too high for the quality of the product / level of service. Here is the long, play-by-play: On Friday, October 13, 2017, I signed a $3,010 contract for Builders & Remodelers to install a new exterior door at my primary residence. I paid half down and was under the impression that the door would be installed in 4-6 weeks from the date of the contract (i.e., between November 10th and November 24th). As the four week mark arrived with no communication from Builders & Remodelers, I called the main office line, was transferred to and left Jason a voice message on 11/10; I received no return call. I called Jason on 11/14 and again did not receive a return call. Finally, I called again on 11/15 and Jason picked up his phone. I asked when the company planned to install my exterior door, noted that we were speaking on Week 5 post contract signing, and brought to his attention that I was under the impression that the door installation would happen within six weeks of the contact signing, which - given the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday - would have to be over the next few business days. Jason spent most of the conversation reprimanding me for my understanding, saying over and over again, in a sharp tone, that I never would have been promised a 4-6 week installation timeline given how busy they were. At the conclusion of the phone call Jason promised that he thought the door would be installed between December 4th and December 8th - the last possible week to stay inside his revised 6-8 week timeline - and that I would receive an advance call from the office to schedule the installation. The week of December 4th came and went. I received no further communication and began to wonder if I was ever going to get a new door. Finally on Friday, December 8th - eight weeks after signing the contact - I called Jason and left a voice message seeking clarity as to when the door would be installed. I received no return call that day nor on the following Monday. I called the office late Monday afternoon and expressed my frustration to the person who answered the phone. After taking a moment away, she got back on the phone and let me know that "I have great news. We just had a cancellation and we can install the door tomorrow (Tuesday).". I wouldn't be home so provided a lock box code and was told I would receive a call either when the installer arrived on site or when the job was completed. I did not receive a phone call on Tuesday. When I came home from work, the door had not been installed. On Wednesday (12/13), I called the office and explained the situation; the employee managing the phone either intentionally or inadvertently hung up on my as they went to transfer the call. I called back and was transferred to Jason; I went to his voice mail. Having no confidence that I would be called back, I called the office again and was transferred to Ken. I explained the situation and voiced my frustration with the communication. Ken conferred with someone and that confirmed that the door would be installed the following morning (Thursday). My wife was home for the day and when I spoke to her late morning on Thursday, no one had come to install the door. I called Ken and asked when the door was going to be installed. I was told that due to winter parking restrictions (one side of the street can't be parked on) the installer was unable to find a parking spot within "a number of blocks", so he had to go to another job. (Why didn't anyone call me to let me know?) I hung up and call my wife back, asking her to see if parking was available on the street. She took picture and only three cars were parked on the entire block. I called Ken back; he promised to have the installer return. Ken called me back a bit later (a first call from the company!) and said that the installer tried again still couldn't find a place to park. The door installation was scheduled for the next day (Friday). I was to receive a call when the installer arrived. I never heard from the installer, but the door was finally installed nine weeks after the contract was signed and post at least 10 persistent calls from me to Builders and Remodelers. However, the door was not wrapped as promised in the contract. I called back again and someone came out on Monday to wrap the door. Two weeks past and the door started to impact the top right portion of the door jam. I cursed the installation and called Ken again. He said someone would call me to schedule a time to adjust the door. The employee eventually came out and adjusted the door so that the top right impact stopped. It seems we finally have a functional door; though it's not perfect - as the door sticks on the bottom and seems to let in more cold air than it should. I shared the story above with Ken and scheduled a follow up conversation. After being told I was crazy (again), Ken did discount my job by $250. I don't think the discount is enough to justify the poor service and communication. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my experience with Builders & Remodelers. I paid, what I consider to be, a premium price and assumed (and think I was told by the sales guy) that there would be a corresponding high level of service. I was sadly mistaken. It pains me to right a negative review about a family owned, local company, but let there be no ambiguity, I highly recommend you remove Builders & Remodelers from consideration for any home project.

    Dave was wonderful to work with. I had three storm doors to replace. He came to my home to measure and help me select the best storm doors to purchase. He then purchased them from Lowes so that he could pass on a contractor discount, picked them up and installed them. The doors work great. Dave was always punctual and professional.
