  • In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete an extensive remodeling project (attached garage, master bathroom, bedroom conversion into a walk-in closet and 2nd floor laundry room, new driveway, backyard brick patio, siding for the entire house, exterior window painting and, repairs on a number of “deferred-maintenance” items within the house). Ron Burgess was the project manager. Northrup Remodeling did an outstanding job. More specifically, Ron Burgess and all of the subcontractors that he assigned to the project were professional, courteous, dedicated and delivered a product that exceeded my expectations in a number of instances. Ron worked tirelessly behind the scenes to coordinate all of the work, was incredibly responsive to all my questions and, provided me with invaluable advice and insight. In a number of instances, Ron’s insight and advice spared me from wasting money on unnecessary work and yielded aesthetic outcomes that were better than I could have imagined. / / / / / / / / / DETAIL / / / / / / In August of 2017, I hired Northrup Remodeling to complete the following: • Tear down a detached two car garage and rebuild an attached two car garage in its place; • Tie the new garage into a pre-existing mudroom (entailed a small expansion of the existing mudroom); • Full demolition and rebuild of the master bathroom; • Conversion of a bedroom into a walk-in closet for the master bedroom and a second floor laundry room; • One window replacement; • Installation of new siding on the entire house; • Exterior painting of all windows, chimneys and brick facade; • Replacement of brick driveway with a concrete driveway; • Removal and reinstallation of brick patio in the back of the house; • Demolition and replacement of front brick walkway; • Repair of deferred-maintenance items (railing and balusters, screen door, foyer tile and grout lines, door handles, interior doors, kitchen sink, cabinet drawers, etc.) Interior construction concluded by January 2018. Following a break for winter, the remaining exterior work was completed by July 2018. Ron Burgess was the Northrup supervisor for the entire project. My experience with Northrup was fantastic and working with Ron was a joy. Ron brought to bear the skills and abilities of subcontractors that provided a high level of quality work and professionalism. At the outset of the project, Ron set out a timetable for the start and expected completion dates for each part of the project. Ron started the project on time and kept everything moving along so that the project finished within expectations. Moreover, any time I had a question, Ron was readily available and promptly addressed any issues to my full satisfaction. Ron also brought to bear the expertise of Kathleen Winter (interior designer) and Richard Groh (architect). Ron, Kathleen and Richard worked extraordinarily well together during the project. In every instance, they were able to suggest great ideas, integrate the goals/desires I had for the finished product and, most important, they dissuaded me from making certain design/material choices that I now realize would have been a huge mistake. Throughout the entire project, I was very impressed with the subcontractors Ron selected for the work. In every one of my interactions with the subcontractors, I found them to be professional, courteous, excited about their work and committed to delivering an outcome that in many instances surpassed my expectations. When each subcontractor started their part of the project, they stayed on the project until it was completed – in a number of instances, working far later in the day than I would have reasonably expected or, working on the weekends.

  • Tomco Company recently transformed our 1960 Rambler into a modern, elegant, yet comfortable home. They relocated a lower level bathroom, installed a ceramic tile shower, walk in closet and created a suite for our daughter who returned home in order to attend grad school. Our upper level "pink" bathroom has been completely changed into a beautiful, spa-like space, and the kitchen / dining room / living room is now open, completely renovated and perfect for entertaining. We absolutely love it, and will be very happy here for years to come. We appreciated Tom's practical, honest and common sense approach. The quality of work by his staff was excellent - one example: The back splash tile we selected for the buffet came in, but it was crooked on the backing. Brian hand set each tile because he knew it wouldn't look right. That's the type of eye for the details we really appreciated. We highly recommend Tomco.

  • All the work that Craig did for me went very well. Craig was very professional, he did beautiful work, he completed the work on time and was very responsive when I had concerns about the finish work in one area. My only complaint about Craig was in regards to a project we had agreed to for the future. The job fell through due to Craig's availability, which I could understand, the unfortunate thing was that it was very difficult to get a hold of Craig to find that out. I was even willing to push the start date out to accommodate Craig's schedule (because he does beautiful work) but he never responded to my request. Perhaps Craig was unhappy working with me or maybe he just can't manage communications when he's busy. I don't know but it's very unfortunate because I doubt I will call him again.

  • I consulted with owner John regarding how to frame a textile.  I had never used this framer before but will definitely again!
His professionalism and knowledge of proper techniques was amazing, not to mention the suggestions he made to make my project the best it could be!  Custom framing is expensive (hence the "B") but I give John & Robin Dooley - FRAME DESIGN - an A+ for the finished product!  It looks wonderful hanging in our home.  If you need something framed, I recommend a trip to Hopkins!  Not the easiest to find, but worth the search!

  • Fantastic! Brian, the owner, met me when I came in and spent a lot of time with me going over what would look best with my art. He was extremely patient even though I was being indecisive and dragging my feet. I really appreciated that.
In addition, the work they did was not only timely and affordable, but extremely high quality. When I got the framed print back, I was extremely impressed with the attention to detail and high quality components. There is always a little hesitation when you find a price that dramatically cheaper than someplace like a Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics, but I have to tell you, I actually think their work was levels above what I saw at the larger chains.
The frame was beautiful, no flaws at all. Glass was fantastic as well (I paid for the high end stuff). Overall, not a single issue. Exactly how it should be.
I would absolutely do business with them again and will refer anyone I know there as well!

  • Construction as investment remodeled the entire house for me. The work was performed quickly and for the best price I could find. I was able to sell the house and got  a 30% return on my investment. These guys are professionals! They do everything...siding, tile, decks, roofing, plumbing, electrical, finishing touches etc. The best part is that they take the headache out of the remodeling process; they take care of all labor and materials. I bough a destressed property, and in several weeks, I had a new home. I would recommend this company to all other real estate investors. I will continue to use them for all my building remodeling needs!

  • From the description above, think it's pretty clear. Friendly and patient guy knows his stuff and does good work. Has a good selection of frames and mats. Does not pressure the customer into anything, and delivers work quickly. I love to support local business people.

  • The end result is beautiful. They helped us pick out the right style of frame, told us how much it would cost and also flattened the picture which was badly rippled. They cut an oval mat. The size of the framed picture is about 12''x 18''.

  • It went very well. The salesperson who helped us had great ideas about which matt colors and textures to use. Originally, she used a fillet also and a more expensive frame but that went over our budget so she used another matt instead of the fillet and a frame that was on sale. She also answered my questions about using different shades of wood in a single room. She was very pleasant and helpful. We picked up the framed art this weekend and it looks fantastic! We will definitely use them again for our future framing needs.

  • I was very disappointed in this particular shop. I had used the fast frame store in Eagan for multiple jobs, but had moved and the Eden Prairie shop was more convenient. When I brought in my print, all they could do was to suggest neutral colors. They even told me that mats ''have to'' be neutral. I have many framed prints and paintings that I used unusual color combos and love them. I just got no help and finally left and took it to the Eagan store, where they had great suggestions and I love the outcome.
