Chimney & Fireplace reviews in Eden Prairie

My chimney was cracked and would leak into the house during heavy rains. Guardian rebuilt it and we have had huge downpours since then -- and no leaks in the house! It also looks beautiful -- great job!

I recently had Guardian Chimney Solutions install a chimney cap. Not only did they do that, but they were also able to do a quick analysis of my chimney and provide recommendations for future work. They were not pushy in terms of getting this additional work done, only providing details on what it meant and what could happen in the future. I would definitely work with Guardian Chimney Solutions again in the future.

We worked with Joe at All Seasons Fireplace on 394 in St. Louis Park. Our project took about a month to complete. Because of the delivery time of the stove we knew it would be that long so that is why we started in the spring. Once the stove came in they came right out and installed it. The HVAC guys did a nice clean job of making the gas line the least noticeable as possible. The building inspector approved it and we were ready to go. Our whole experience with everyone was good.

The inspector was punctual, knowledgable, and performed a very thorough inspection with a camera. We found out that one of the fireplaces has multiple cracks in the clay tile making it unusable for the long term. This was one of the factors that helped us decide whether to buy the house or not. Impressed with the whole process. Highly recommend their services.

Helpful discussion on pros and cons of replacement vs. repair of part. Did repair. Fireplace worked. Then after further consideration decided to have part replaced. That was done. Doug provided friendly, professional service and information. I had many questions, which he answered thoroughly. Fireplace is 23 years old. When it needs further service or maintenance Ill definitely call them again

I called many fireplace businesses for the repair, however, during the Holiday Season everyone was booked for weeks. Aire Serve of Eden Prairie was able to come out the next day charging $89 for the trip compared to $242 at Fireside Hearth and Home. The trouble turned out to be a sticky valve; there was no charge beyond the trip price as no new parts were needed. The guys were prompt, professional, and thoroughly checked the fireplace for any additional problems. I would definitely call Aire Serve again.

The first guy couldnt get the remote to work. He never dismantled the logs to clean as it states in the description. After he left, there was a strong gas smell. I turned off the gas and they came back 5 days later. It seemed to work ok. No gas smell while burning or for 5 minutes after. I came back in the hours 3 hours later and a strong gas smell was back. Turned off gas again. Will call another company this time.

The technician was on time and very professional. Cleaning and inspection was done with no fuss or muss. Inspection showed the flues were good but the cap needs to be replaced. The technician gave us a bid on that before he left.

We did our due diligence and checked this company's credentials before hiring them. They had one A grade review on Angie's List and no negative reviews. They were a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating, had one positive review, and no negative reviews. Their registration with the MN Department of Labor and Industry is current and they proved to be Active/In Good Standing on the MN Secretary of State website. Power Plumbing was phoned to verify the pricing that is advertised on Angie's List under this business's description: "We charge by the hour at $115.00 per hour...and after the first hour, in fifteen minute increments. Also there is a $50 truck charge." A person kindly verified that the $115 hourly rate and 15 minute prorated fee after the 1st hour was correct, but that the charge to make the trip was $75 not $50. An appointment was scheduled for June 8, 2017 to have 1 toilet removed, 2 faucets disconnected, and 1 bathtub rough-in located. Two people arrived within the designated time frame and promptly placed covers on their shoes before entering the house. They immediately began work on the toilet and faucets. They quoted $120/hour + a $75 truck charge and a 2 hour minimum because of their 33 minute 1-way commute. Based on the previous phone conversation, it was our understanding that the $75 charge would cover the cost of the commute and that drive time was not categorized as a labor cost. We told them what we were quoted over the phone ($115/hour and a prorated fee for each 15 minute increment after the 1st hour). They refused to honor the original quote and said that pricing would be determined upon arrival to the job site. We felt we had no choice but to pay them because they had already begun working. It took them less than 1 hour and 15 minutes to drain and disconnect the toilet and faucets and to locate the bathtub rough-in. We were presented with a $315 invoice for $120/hour for 2 hours of labor + $75 truck charge. We paid them and they left. We later discovered that the toilet was left disconnected in our bathroom with the door closed. Our payment was deposited same day for labor that was not completed in full because they did not remove the toilet from our property and we will have to incur the cost for its disposal. What should've cost $218.75 ($143.75 for 1 hour 15 minutes of labor + $75 truck charge) cost $96.25 more for an unfinished job. An e-mail was sent to Power Plumbing informing them that we would not be hiring them for the rest of our project. An e-mail reply insisted that we were not quoted $115/hour. We were quoted that price as advertised and verified by a screen shot of the Angie's List description for Power Plumbing. While their credentials leading up to the appointment indicated that we could expect fair pricing and completed tasks, our experience proved disappointing. This was a missed opportunity to earn the rest of our business and our referral.

They kept me informed through E-mail and telephone call on when the appointment. He called a day early and said there was a cancellation and asked if he could come today. It was not a problem and they came out and were done in like 15 minutes. My husband said that they did not tell him if they went on the roof and inspected the chimney but he didn't think so. He vacuumed the fire place and stuck a tool up there said not much soot. In previous cleanings they were done from the top down. So I'm not real confident that there is no soot up the chimney. He was very nice so have no problem with professionalism. I'm just not real satisfied I have a clean chimney. No report was given other than a bill for $3.95 for tax, which I thought was real funny that Angie's list did not collect the entire amount. I think that is the fault of Angie's list.
