    RCJ/Ryan Jackman LLC
Here are the issues we had: Gave him $25,000.00 in Oct 2017 and did not hear a word from him again until we contacted him in April 2018 Went over budget and did not tell us, just presented a bill Negoiated a final payment and found out the windows and trusses had not been paid in full Wanted us to give him a blank checks so he would not need to bother us - WE DID NOT DO THIS! Construction started in July 2017 and end in January 2018 Crew consisted of him, one other guy and a teenager. Charges by the hour - same rate for everyone. Doesn't keep track of hours very well. Cement was not poured correctly, uneven and cracked Electrical had to be redone as is was NOT up to code Major Leak in roof causing damage to an inside wall Two windows broke during installation, one is still not replaced. Steel roof installed incorrecly. Very very very POOR communication! Water Main in the garage burst which is buried in the cement just broke due to nail in pipe.

    ZIERDEN BUILDERS
We purchased the house a few months after Zierden Buliders was done, we have over $100,000 in damages from a leaky roof/ very poor workmanship , no starter strip etc. no warranty on the roof as the builder didn't follow the manufactures directions. The builder agreed to come back to fix it/ never showed/ responded to emails/ laughed on the phone when I told him about the damages. we didn't hire this builder/ our $290,000 home is worth 0 with all the black mold. Poor workmanship isn't covered under our homeowners policy/ his liability doesn't cover it either along with a mold exclusion.

    Badger Inc
It was a great experience.  We have told our neighbor down the road about Badger, Inc. and I believe they are calling ", The Badger".
    His experience tells the story.

    KNUTSON CUSTOM CONSTRUCTION
I can not say enough good things about Knutson Construction.  They took over a project that was partially completed by a previous GC and saved the day.  Pricing was higher than others, but worth every penny spent.  The quality and craftsmanship shows.  Should we have any additional projects, we will be using them again!

    BRUCKELMYER BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION, LLC
Very poorly.  Poor communicators, poor follow though.  They don't keep their word and don't stand behind their work.  Countless problems with function, and communication.  They don't hold their subs accountable and are extremely unprofessional.
My advice is to STAY AWAY!

    Torgersen Construction
I hired this firm as I was told that and quot;you won't be disappointed as he only does one home at a time, he looks after everythingand quot; and so on and on. The whole process was astounding to me and disappointing. I am still waiting for our and quot;final walk through and quot; It has been over a year and I have never heard back from him. The actual work that Mr. Torgerson did or supervised was ok but I would never recommend this company for anything.

    The Carpentry Works LLC
They did an excellent job. Dave was excellent about explaining what would be the best thing to do for my insulation, which I knew already from extensive research, but I was checking to make sure he knew what to do. He was excellent about explaining his estimate. They were arrived in a timely manner after I hired them, and completed on time. The workers were profession, completed the job to spec, and cleaned up after themselves.
I had Dave give me estimates for a couple other jobs, but the prices were higher than competitors.

    Uskoa Contstruction
Bruce was excellent to work with.  He scoped and bid the project in April, and understood that we had some time constraints that would likely push out the project date.  We stayed in touch and he was very responsive.  Eventually we pulled the trigger on the project in September, and he was able to get his crew onsite in three weeks.  They knocked out the project in about 14 days.  Awesome, all around.

    ADOLPHSON CONSTRUCTION
A friend took me to a home that was being remodeled by Ryan and Patrick Adolphson.  They were doing the same type of remodel that I would need.  Their father, a businessman in Duluth, praised his sons highly and said that they do wonderful work.  Ryan was a very upbeat, cordial individual who said he and his brother really like their profession.  I was impressed by Ryan's attitude about his work, and I asked him to look at the house I bought that needed a total remodel.  Ryan was very enthusiastic and said that he and Patrick would like to do the work for me.  They wrote up a contract which I signed.  They started the work on the house in June.  Ryan said it would take about 2-1/2 months to complete the work.
They worked extremely hard the first 1-1/2 months, but then everything slowed down.  I owned another house that I put on the market when construction started on my other house.  Because their dad recommended them so highly and because I trusted Ryan and Patrick completely, I didn't bother them very often.  I asked Ryan to call me if he had any questions at all or if he wanted to ask me something.  He rarely contacted me, so I would stop by the house at least a couple times a week.  After the first six weeks or so, they usually weren't there when I would stop by.  Six weeks into the job they weren't at the house for an entire week.  The plumber was there when I stopped by and he said that they guys were spending a week in the Boundary Waters.  That would have been fine with me, but Ryan didn't bother to tell me.  They dragged the remodel out from 2-1/2 months to 7 months, which caused many changes in delivery dates of appliances, bathroom fixtures, flooring, etc.
I can't go into much detail because this note would get extremely long, so I'll just give a little information on the outcome of the remodel.  The house looks nice on the outside even though they did not do most things the way I requested.  I had hired a designer, so Ryan had something concrete to go by.  He said if I wanted to change anything I should tell him before they started.  Well, I did request changes in the windows and they ordered the wrong windows.  I asked that a sliding door slide from right to left, but they installed a left to right sliding door.  They turned the door around, but now it is backwards, weak, and won't lock.  They did many things the opposite of what I asked them to do.  I purchased almost all of the interior items, and purchased them on my credit card and didn't use the money alloted to me on the contract.  The house looks really nice when you walk inside, but after living here a week, I started noticing everything that was done poorly or incorrectly.  The woodwork they chose is very poor quality - probably pine.  The closets they chose are of the worst quality.  There are hundreds of nail holes on the windows, doors, etc., that weren't filled in.  The cabinets they installed were done carelessly, and there are many more things that were done carelessly.  The only reason the interior of the house looks as nice as it does is because of the great design and the items I chose for the house.
I typed a list of everything done incorrectly or poorly, and it ended up to be seven pages long.  I paid them $15,000 extra at the end of the job, but after paying them they didn't come back to complete things they said they would complete.
I was extremely excited when the remodel started and I trusted them to do very professional work.  The finishing work is poor, and I am very worried about what will go wrong with the house, because I don't know how many shortcuts they took to save money.  I could go into so much more detail, but this note is already too lengthy, so I'll end here.
Ryan and Patrick met with me once, and their dad also met with me once.  Nothing got settled, because they wanted more money to finish what they were already paid to do.  Ryan will not return my calls and neither will his dad.
I am giving serious thought of contacting the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter.

    TERRY DAVIS CONSTRUCTION
This company is great to work with. The owner effectively communicated with me during all phases of the project.  They were here when they said they would be and were finished when they said would be. It looks even better than I hoped it would. We've gotten many compliments on it. They are also reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone.
