Basement & Foundation reviews in Columbia Heights

    Gardner Construction Inc
Overall great experience with Gardner in installing approximately 50 linear feet of drain tile in our basement. Basement has had periodic spring water seepage (specifically with the record snow storm and subsequent melt), was finally time to permanently fix. Submitted an online request for a quote on Sunday, was called mid-morning Monday to schedule and Bill was out on Wednesday. Took a look around the house for grading issues and reviewed basement. Bill was knowledgeable, informative, and very professional, clearly knew what he was talking about. Quote came back quickly, thought it was a little high, but trusted the quality would be there (and it was). I moved the washer/dryer/sink/toilet in preparation for the work. Installation began only a week later. Crew was prompt at 7:30am, went right to work on removing cement floor around the perimeter of the basement walls, installed sump basket and piping in no time. Project was wrapped up by 1:00pm. Quality of the install was amazing, they took a lot of care and pride in their work. The process is messy by nature, they did a good sweep when wrapping up, but still had a few boot prints, not a big deal. Would recommend giving Gardner a call if considering drain tile, I'm glad I did.

    Standard Water Control Systems Inc
I noticed I was getting a bunch of water in my tuck under garage. I had 3 different companies come out and give me estimates on interior drain tile and I decided to go with Standard Water. The pricing was reasonable and the work they performed was completed on time and done well. After they were completed it rained for 3 straight days and my garage is water free.

    Better Yards & Gardens
I think they are wonderful. They are fast and the quality of work is great! I would definitely hire them again a recommend them to other. My only complaint was that I'm experiencing some heaving on the paved walkway. It started about 6 months after the install, but I have not yet contacted Better Yards to see about a repair. I'm sure they will be able to help me, since they were so nice during the install. If you hire these folks, you will NOT be disappointed.

    Chuck's Repair
They did a good job. They were flexible because at first we didn't have the treads and we had to reschedule. The price was good because we had another estimate which was higher.

    Good quality.

    Basement Repair Specialists
The installation was pretty messy, but that's probably normal.  It took a lot of clean up afterwards.
My review is based on my recent contact with them.  In late 2015 we had just under 2 inches of rain.  It was the first time it had rained enough to put the sump pump and drain tile to use.  At that time there were cracks in the cement work that was done by the company and moisture was visible in and around some of the cracks.  The drain pipe connection they installed for the sump pump was also leaking a lot.  I tried contacted the company through their website, but didn't get a response. I still had a card from one of their sales reps, Dave, so I emailed him. I got him to come out on Feb 1, 2016. He took some pictures, surmised the cracks might be where the drain tile joints were and said he had to go back to the office to talk to the experts. Since that time, I've been getting the run around. Whenever I contact Dave, (he doesn't respond every time) he hasn't talked to the experts yet, or he lost my number, and the most recent contact was on 3/28/2016. He was going to check his calendar, call me on the evening of 3/28, and schedule a time to come back out.  He never called on 3/28.  Needless to say it has been very frustrating dealing with this company, or at least the sales rep.

    Best Plaster & Drywall
Garth does an excellent job.  Took care of all the water damage from ice dams in the winter.
His price was well below the other quotes I received.  He took care of all the billing details with the insurance company.
Will use him again and highly recommend him.

    Twin City Home Remodeling LLC
Wow! Twin Cities Remodeling really amazing job at my house. Joe (the owner?) came over and gave me a great, low estimate on re-sashing 5 basement windows and replacing a storm door.   He worked with me to make sure I was getting the best deal and the best product. He convinced me to get a slightly nicer door than I intended and he was RIGHT. I LOVE my new windows and the new storm door is so much nicer than I expected. The installation was quick and I had no inconvenience. The installers left almost no traces, except new windows!   I am considering replacing the upstairs windows in the future and I will 100% use Twin Cities Remodeling.

    Standard Water Control Systems Inc
Best price. I was originally scheduled for January but requested ASAP. They did it December 1. I am a fairly critical customer and observed their work closely. No shortcuts, quality materials and workmanship. Very pleasant workers. Cleaned up what wasa very messy job well. I would HIGHLY recommend Standard to anyone needing drain tile/water control work done. Thanks!

Green Clean Restoration & Carpet Care
They came quickly and did a stellar job cleaning up after a pipe broke and got my finished basement wet. They are now about halfway through repairing and replacing the damaged material.  This is one of the best companies I have ever worked with. They have been prompt, professional, thorough and reasonably priced. My only complaint is with Angie's List for not having a rating higher than A.  Thanks

    Cement Raising Inc

I had 3 walk slabs leading up the house that were sloping towards the foundation and created a trip hazard.  I also discovered large voids underneath the front stoop and wanted to fill to help some water drainage issues along the foundation.  Went with Cement Raising based on reviews and quotes I received.  They weren't the cheapest, but seemed the most responsive to the issues I was facing.  Was able to negotiate a little better price than originally quoted.  They were pretty backed up and said it would take about a month to get scheduled, which was fine with me.  I received a phone call the day before they were coming out to do the work, again, fine with me, just wasn't going to be home at the time.

The work itself, by nature, is relatively messy with the mud they use.  They drill small holes in the slabs and pump material underneath to level them.  I was happy with the end product and looked ok, a bit of mud residue was on the stoop and in the lawn (which I was expecting).

My neighbors were home at the time and told me a little more about the work.  They used my outside faucet and didn't hook it up very well, which was leaking/draining around my foundation (as noted above, I've been having drainage issues around my foundation).  My neighbor was nice enough to tighten the hose connection to stop the leak. Apparently their pump had broke in the service truck that took them some time to fix.  The truck was parked in the street and created a bit of a traffic hazard during the repair.  There was a lot more mud residue on the driveway which my neighbors had asked them to clean.

Overall, end result was good, would have liked a little more attention and care to the details during the actual work.
