Tree Service reviews in Chaska

    Sam came out on time for appointment and was great at giving information as to what and why they were suggesting specific pruning. Tom and crew came out on day of cutting and we're friendly and explained the process well. The quote was a mid-range one but the folks that had the lower ones didn't seem to be as knowledgeable. We really appreciated their work and definitely will be calling them in future!

    These folks took care of the trees on the property we bought three years ago - we kept them on and we're happy we did. They're not the cheapest but they're knowledgeable and don't try to upsell on a bunch of services you don't need. We are glad we "inherited" them.

    I purchased an Angie's List deal last week.  Tom Heid called to arrange a time.  I actually had to reschedule but he found the time to come the following day which worked for me.  He and his crew showed up, did the job and cleaned up in about two hours.  My backyard will now have some sunlight and the two pretty good sized trees that they worked on look good.  More importantly, my wife was impressed as well.  These trees were getting pretty bad and had many overgrown and not real attractive branches along with several broken limbs.  I definitely would use these guys again.  The price was right.  No issues.

    Knowledgeable, prompt and communicated well.  Showed up at the promised day and time, worked efficiently and took care to avoid damaging other plants. Shredded all cut material and cleaned up completely.  Would highly recommend.

    I was really happy!   The service was just great.   I am glad I had read reviews online before the service was provided.  I knew that disposal of the shrubbery and other stuff was expensive so I was prepared and had a bag ready for disposal.   Otherwise that would have been an additional charge.  The charge for disposal seems high to me, but I don't know how much Pine Ridge has to pay to get rid of the material.  I was happy to take care of that piece of it.
    Otherwise, I had paid for the clean up which included 4 person hours.   3 people came to do the job, so it meant they were here for an hour and 20 minutes.    The job I had was pretty big.  He told me that they could finish it up with an additional hour for the three of them and I agreed to pay that.   It was well worth it.   The three guys worked really hard, they got a lot done and the place looked great when they left.
    They were pleasant, upfront with time estimates and fees.  They came when they were supposed to come.   All in all, it was great.    I will certainly use them again.

    A tree fell on our property (and no one was around, but it DID make a sound if anyone was wondering) and we needed it removed ASAP as it was a safety hazard. Contacted this provider on a Saturday night and they were out first thing Monday morning. They removed the fallen tree and did an excellent job of clean-up....not one leaf was left on the ground. This is a far cry from the service an adjacent property received from a different contractor (see other reviews provided by this member for details).

    Emerson, the owner, immediately texted photos of the work and made suggestions to address two other tree's that were a threat to life and property. The customer approved the additional work and again, the trees were removed promptly, properly and professionally and the stump was grinded down to below turf level. The clean-up couldn't have been better. He added black dirt and seed and the area doesn't appear disturbed at all other than the fact we have a small bare spot until the grass grows.

    Emerson said the invoice would be mailed to us. He also commented that the clown at the other tree service (mentioned above) left him a message saying "they don't pay their bills". But Emerson knows better...he's been paid promptly with every invoice he's submitted. And why is that? He has the ability to promptly create an accurate invoice and provide it to his customers. If there are any issues, he responds politely and professionally to his valued customers.

    This company is a true gem in the Chaska/Carver/Chanhassen area. I would strongly recommend their services.

    Our manager uses Angie's List to find good quality providers in our area and contacted this contractor to perform work next door and to assess whether or not we'd use them as well. Here's his account:

    and quot;Called several local tree services in the Chaska area on July 2nd as we wanted to have a large tree pruned as it was brushing against the side of a building in which new siding was being installed. Left messages with two reputable tree services in town and thought we'd try 1-800-cut-tree. Chad answered the phone and I asked if he would be able to cut a tree back from a building within the next day or two. His response was and quot;oddand quot;; he literally demanded to know who I was and how did I get his number. I told him I found it on-line. I texted him a photo of the tree and he quoted a price and said he needed payment in full at the time of service. I agreed and said we'd require an invoice at service completion, in which he agreed.

    He said he'd arrive between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. At 9:22 he texted and quot;I be there close to 10 little afterand quot; At 10:41 I texted and quot;What happened. Are you in route?and quot; He replied, and quot;5 awayand quot;

    Once on site he acted appropriately. We have an additional 14 trees we need removed and he was asked if he wanted to bid on the job. We walked the property and he agreed to have a bid to us in, and quot;the next few daysand quot;.

    He trimmed the tree and did an OK job, though, we've had other tree services out to do additional work/or bid the other work since that time (because we weren't going to use his company again) and both commented negatively on the work. One even commented he's often called to repair jobs that 1-800-cut-tree performed.

    We provided Chad with a check, but he failed to produce an invoice. I texted our contact information, including name, billing address, phone number and email address to him so there could be no confusion. He was using a tablet and said he and quot;just sent the invoice to the email address.and quot; Since I had a smart phone with me, I could check to see if we received an email...no email was received. I shared this with him and he claimed and quot;he couldn't get connectedand quot;. I told him I had good wi-fi service where we were located, and he said, and quot;it shows it went throughand quot;. Still no invoice received. He said he'd send it again later that afternoon, which I accepted/agreed.

    Days went by and still, no invoice. How hard can it be? If he was having difficulties, all he had to do was print the invoice and mail it. Right?

    On 7/7 I sent another text stating we still hadn't received an invoice. Never received a response;

    On 7/9 we received a text from and quot;Chadand quot; stating he had not heard back from me and and quot;do you still need a bid on those treesand quot;? I responded, and quot;still haven't received the invoice yet.and quot; He replied, and quot;I sent it??and quot; and quot;I will try againand quot; The next day I again had to tell him we hadn't received it and he suggested he must have had the wrong email address and claimed, and quot;it says it went throughand quot; I again provided our email address (the third time, twice via text and once verbally).

    After a week playing this game and still not receiving the invoice, a stop-payment was placed on the check and the lunacy escalated. Two days later, AND STILL NO INVOICE, we received the following text messages.....and quot;check your voice mail !!and quot; and quot;im the wrong guy to stiff !!!and quot;, and quot;I live to (sic) close to you to hide.and quot;, and quot;I will be there every day at the job site tell (sic) you pay me!!!and quot;, and quot;I will show all your contractors this cancelecd (sic) check.and quot;; and quot;not worth it trust meand quot;, and it only escalated from there. He threatened to and quot;start a police reportand quot;, and quot;place a lien on the propertyand quot;, and quot;post an add (sic) in the chaska (sic) herald (sic) on how you stiff your contractors, and file a BBB report about you and Angie's list and all the search engines.and quot; We responded HE failed to meet the terms of our initial agreement and once we received an invoice, he would get paid, less the and quot;stop-paymentand quot; charge.

    He replied we will, and quot;have it shortlyand quot; and that, and quot;I doin't (sic) want your business (sic) in the future...and quot; As if he would be given ANY consideration for future work.

    On 7/12 and 7/13 he left very threatening and arrogant voicemail messages demanding to get paid and wanting to meet face to face.

    Finally, on July 13, a Sunday, he sent a text version of the invoice and demanded we cover his banks $4.00 charge for the stop payment. Later in the day the following texts were received, and quot;stop avoiding me I want my moneyand quot;; and quot;im (sic) at your place here at ********and quot;; and quot;im (sic) going to call some of your contractors to see if you stiff them also I see signs in the yard.and quot; These threatening and obnoxious texts were ignored.

    On Monday, more texts were received and quot;...are you going to pay me today?and quot; and quot;im (sic) stopping over todayand quot; true to form, he showed up and attempted to bully his way to getting paid. I told him his invoice was incorrect, the invoice did not have the date of service on it AND he was billing more than what we agreed, and what we initially paid him. He followed me around the property yelling and quot;what game are you playing?and quot; and and quot;you can't hideand quot;. I said, send us an accurate invoice as you said you would do ten (10) days ago. I returned home and sent him an email detailing the inaccuracies of the invoice. Twenty four hours later, we STILL don't have an accurate invoice. The remainder of the day he sent many more texts claiming if he didn't get paid by noon today he'd go to the local TV station and, I will proceed with leagal (sic) action. if you think im (sic) joking think again.and quot; He later texted and quot;Why do you refuse to send me a copy of the invoice and tell whats (sic) wrong with it, this proves you are in the wrong.and quot; As stated earlier in this review, I told him, two times in person and once in an email, EXACTLY what was needed, and still, no corrected invoice. What's so hard about this? IMO, he was so intent in attempting to bully the customer, he couldn't gather himself to actually listen to the customers concerns.

    So, where are we at today? He provided an and quot;OKand quot; service, was paid, did not provide an invoice for ten (10) days, after seven (7) days a stop-payment was placed on the check, and he's acted like an absolute buffoon ever since. We have never said we wouldn't pay for his service and have repeated at least a dozen times, including several times via text and once via email, we would pay him, less the stop-payment charge, once we get an accurate invoice. It's really quite incredible to tell you the truth. All quoted information above and emails are available if any of the above is disputed.

    Potential customers of 1-800-cut-tree may want to consider:

    1. The fact this contractor showed up late to the appointment;

    2. The work quality and quot;okand quot; wasn't great and the cost was 20% higher than the two other contractors would have charged (but that's subjective for sure);

    3. The inability of this contractor to provide a hardcopy invoice at the time of service;

    4. Once we actually received an invoice (ten days after service was performed) via email, it clearly indicated he had mistyped the email address, apparently, several times. Upon learning this, he didn't admit or apologize for HIS mistake. He kept hounding, badgering and threatening his customer.

    Is this someone YOU want to do business with? It should be noted we did NOT use Angie's List for this referral. If we had, we would not have contacted him in the first place as he's the only contractor in the tree business in Chaska that isn't rated an and quot;Aand quot;. Had we checked Angie's List, we would have known better. My bad on that one. If I had only waited for the other two and quot;Aand quot; rated tree services to call back...they both did, hours after I had agreed to engage, unknowingly, and quot;The Contractor From H***and quot;.and quot;

    After receiving a quote from Jeremy, one person started work immediately taking down some very old large bushes.  He worked until dark which wasn't long and then said they would return in the morning.  First thing in the morning a whole crew showed up to begin work.  I was very impressed with how many people they had and how promptly they were there to start working.  Jeremy had to leave and asked if I could give him a check, which I stupidly did.  Later on that day, they crew just up and left.  They didn't say anything to me and the work was not completed.  They only did about half of what was promised.  I called the company many times, received many apologies and excuses,  and even sent a certified letter, but no one has ever come back to finish the job.

    It took a few tries to get the work estimated and scheduled, but once that happened, everything was very smooth. The owner Jacob personally supervised the job. The quality was excellent; the work was completed efficiently. I have them coming back in the spring to hopefully do some front yard landscape "refresh".

    Charlie, the owner, is very knowledgeable about trees, charged a reasonable price, and was honest about what work needed to be done. In addition, his treatments have been quite effective because the trees have leaves going into the fall season for the first time in a long while.
