    Earthworm Low Impact Lawncare
Snow removal was done late or not at all; I had to call and it was sometimes not done until late in the day. Yard work was done but not especially well, no edging. Billing was deplorable. I cancelled and sold the house; they are still trying to bill me for the month after I cancelled because their billing people can't keep things straight. Pleaseant to talk to--if you can ever reach them. The phone number on Angie's and their website has been disconnected. They don't answer the other one. They don't answer emails.

AAA Lawn Svc & Snow Plowing
I have used AAA Lawn for the last 3 years for snowplowing my private driveway. They have done a great job every year. I have not had to worry at all about getting in or out. Once I called to let them know I was working odd hours during a heavy snowfall and they made sure my driveway got done in advance. Great job, AAA Lawn!

They were excellent. We wanted to know what type of equipment they use. We don't want this pickup truck to come in. They used a regular snow blower which is what we wanted. Other companies don't offer that so that what we like about them. They kept us updated when we were gone.

    Kyle's Lawn & Snow Inc.
I met Kyle last summer while I was mowing my lawn and he was mowing one of my nieghbors' lawn and I asked him what his prices are, he gave me a brochure with all the information.
I like Kyle because he charges $35 per snow plow and I paid him 5 plows upfront, as of today he's used up 4 for December. I'd rather have Kyle do the snow plow every year that I am here. I plan to ask him to help me with spring cleaning, my lawn is a MESS. And maybe fall cleaning as well. Kyle is such a nice guy. I'd recommend him to anyone who needs a snow plow on their driveway.
And we communicate mostly by e-mail which is most convenient for me.

there is no contract., per se.  it's all done with verbal agreements.
tom has been on time and very courteous to us, and he and his crew do the requested work quickly and without hassles.
the snow removal is automatic.  I don't have to call to 'remind' anyone of anything.  they just show up and do the work.  Brilliant!

    TruMasters
Trent at TruMasters acted as the contractor for my home remodel project. He sat down with me to determine what I wanted and needed, and gave me a "menu" from which to order. He has connections to all the professionals in the Twin Cities who provide the highest quality work at the most reasonable cost, which enabled me to afford every item on the menu! All the work was done as scheduled, on time, and perfectly. It's better than I even imagined. The attention to detail is amazing; Trent insisted that the flooring installers take up and replace the molding around the fireplace because he didn't think it looked as good as it should, even when I thought it looked fine. When it was corrected, thought, I could see that he was right. He pointed out areas that needed attention, and also pointed out when I was spending too much money!

Trent is going to come out once a year and sit down with me to discuss any house projects that need to be completed, as well as any weekly, monthly, or annual maintenance I might need in the span of a year. He'll roll everything into one price, then divide it into 12 monthly payments. I love this idea, because I won't have to be stuck paying for a large project all at once. I also don't have to get estimates for each project; Trent takes care of that. I just tell him when I want each project to happen, and he arranges everything. Ultimately, the cost is less than what I would pay if I were hiring people to do each individual job. If anything extra should come up during the year, I just call.

    Marks Lawn Service Inc
I originally contacted Mark to do mowing on a small yard.  I believe the cost was $40/mow.  The service provided was fine.  I did feel that the cost was rather high considering the size of the yard.

The trouble came when I extended our service to include snow removal.  I requested snow to be removed from the short driveway, short sidewalk, and front stoop of a small 60's style rambler home belonging to my elderly mother.  The price set was $100/month.  During the first snowfall the sod was torn up by the plow and the sidewalk and stoop weren't shoveled.  I called Mark and he said that he would fix the lawn first thing in the spring and said that he would advise his driver to shovel the walk.  The second, third, and fourth snowfalls came and still the walk and stoop were not shoveled.  And to add insult to injury, the plow pulled out a landscape timber from a retaining wall and deposited it, with a landscape spike sticking up under the snow in the middle of the sidewalk.  It was an accident waiting to happen.  This would have been discovered if the driver would have shoveled the walk.  (As I had to do -driving 40 min. each way every time his driver skipped shoveling the walk!)  After many phone calls over a months time, Mark's crew finally started shoveling the walk and stoop.  (And again, promises were make to fix the retaining wall the first thing in the spring.)  After going for an entire month without receiving part  of the service that I had contracted for, I had expected that there would be a small adustment to my bill.  To my surprise, the bill was adjusted up instead of down.  The first bill that I received had a $3.00 fuel surcharge/visit added to it.  The total addition to my bill was $12.00.  I was never notified of a potential fuel surcharge and the charge was placed retroactively.  I found the charge to be accessive.  I did not pay the first month surcharge and told Mark that I considered it notification of the potential for future fuel surcharges.  After that month, Mark charged me $3.00/month fuel surcharge.

As winter turned to spring, I contacted Mark to set a date to fix the sod and repair the retaining wall that his driver had damaged.  Mark said that his crew would make the repair the following week..  The following week came and went with no repairs done.  I contacted Mark again and told him that we were placing the house on the market for sale in mid May and that we were anxious to complete the repairs as soon as possible.  Again he promised to get a crew out to make the repairs.  And again, no repairs.  We finally had to make the repairs ourselves as we ran out of time.  He called me in May to say that his crew was coming out after we had already made the repairs.  So much for "I'll make the repairs the first thing in the spring"!  I found the whole experience with Mark to be extremely frustrating.  His customer service skills are totally lacking.  In hind sight we should have cancelled service with him after the first month.  We had decided to stay with his service so that we could have him complete the repairs that he had caused.  When it came down to it, he couldn't even get that right.  I definitely would not recommend this service.

    WILD OUTDOOR SERVICES INC
It's sometimes hard to know when they would be arriving for snow removal. Also one time, we had hard time getting one of our cars into the driveway (we are on a hill, very slippery with some of the snow storms this year), and went inside for a 15 minute break after we finally did. Apparently the snow removal truck came right after, then left. We waited and waited, finally called the next morning (there was some light snow at night, so we weren't sure when they were supposed to come) and they told us because the car was there, they couldn't plow. They did not ring bell or somehow get our attention to move the car, while it was clear we were home--garage door open, lights on, etc. Because it was the next morning and they finished making the rounds, they would not come back. All the other times went fine.

    Greg's Lawn Service
I used Greg's for two years and had good service. Fall of 2010, I was contacted by another company that offered very inexpensive rates and decided to try them. The first two (fairly minor) snowfalls went fine, but when the snow really hit, they were nowhere to be found. They did not even answer phone calls or send an email. I had no idea what was going on, but I was snowed into my garage. I called Greg and begged to be his customer again. He said he was not looking for more business, but I think he heard the desperation in my voice and accepted me back into his fold. Greg's employees usually have me shoveled out shortly after the snow stops/fades. At one point, I contacted him and requested he send a crew back again after the snowplows blocked my sidewalks/driveway, and he did. Can you find someone less expensive? Maybe, but that didn't work out so well for me. BUT, for dependability and punctuality, Greg can't be beat.

    Greg's Lawn Service
I contacted Greg after finding him on Angie's List. He was busy, but said he would get back to me. A couple days later, I got a contract in the mail from him which allowed me to make some choices, like the minimum amount of snow before they should come out and shovel. Actually, it snowed before I could get the contract mailed back to him, but his crew came out anyway and took care of the snow. It's so great to get up to leave for work and the walks and driveway are already shoveled! Very prompt. Greg sends an invoice after each snowfall, making it all very easy. This is a very good company. Snowfall this year has been frequent, so am really glad I signed a contract w/Greg. One less thing to worry about!
