Pet Crossing Animal Hospital & Dental Clinic
In July of 2018, at our well dog check we were advised by the Vets at Pet Crossings to schedule our 3yr old Golden Retriever for a routine dental cleaning and x-rays, we were also advised that a full body (skeletal and internal organs) x-ray was recommended to determine some sort of base line for future problems. In as much as our dog is part of a national non-profit outreach organization, we consulted with a vet at the University of MN, who stated a routine dental would certainly not hurt, but highly recommend we not radiate a healthy dogs entire body, unless the animal was presenting with some sort of problem. We arrived at the Pet Crossings for the routine dental and all went well, though we did have to repeatedly decline their urgings to proceed with the full body x-rays. After leaving the clinic with a happy Golden with bright shiny teeth, we received an alarming e-mail to call as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for oral surgery to extract 4 molars that were severely abscessed and needed immediate surgical extraction. This seemed a bit odd for a healthy 3rd old dog, who has daily dental care at home. The e-mail from Pet Crossings stated the four teeth in question were like our wisdom teeth and the dog did not need them to survive and eat normally, the e-mail further stated due to the extensive nature of the surgery, the cost would be $4,000.00, and to schedule as soon as possible. We informed Pet Crossings that we would need to seek a second opinion, and dependent on those findings, we would let them know if we were going to proceed with the surgery. Pet Crossings response was for us to come to the clinic and pick up prescriptions for antibiotic and pain meds as, according to Pet Crossings, the dog had acute infection and pain from the abscesses, and should remain on these meds until the surgery was scheduled. Within three days, the dog was seen by a second vet with dental specialty, and x-rays were reviewed by two additional vets (on from the University ), as well as our organizations vet in Chicago. None of the veterinarians consulted could find any problems with the dogs teeth, nor could they find any infection based on exam, x-rays and a complete blood panel, all stated there was nothing further to be done, and the medications prescribed were not needed in any way. To be absolutely certain, we made the decision to have the new vet re-check the teeth in 3-4 months, based on the premise that if something was going on with the teeth, it would clearly show during that time. Today was the re-check, and once again, the dogs teeth were deemed to be completely healthy and free from any abnormalities or abscess. Please Please Please, before you agree to any surgical procedure at this clinic, seek a competent second opinion. By doing so we were able to avoid undo pain and suffering for our dog.

The vets are professional and knowledgeable but somehow not personable. Very beautiful office/waiting area. The admin staff is friendly but the record keeping was terrible. They did not keep good track of my dog's vaccinations. They also send emails too frequently. According to these emails, I always seemed to need to come in for something, but my dogs are fairly healthy and I would have liked one check-up a year.

    Whiskers To Tails Petsitting
We had a large, unpredictable dog that we had been afraid we wouldn't be able to find anyone to look after if we were out of town. I'd read good reviews here on Angie's list, so we decided to take a chance. Margaret came over to meet our dog, and our cats, and made friends with our dog surprisingly fast. We had Margaret watch over our pets for us a couple of times over the past year and she took wonderful care of our pets each time, sending daily update emails with photos.

    Foley Blvd Animal Hospital
The office staff, technicians, and the veterinarian (we saw Dr. Barr) at this location took such incredible care of us. My dog was sent home with medication and a couple cans of low-fat bland dog food. He was back to normal within a couple days.

    Vet Partners Pet Hospital
They do a package and I pay $39 a month. It covers teeth cleaning once a year, all of her medicine, vaccinations and any office visits we made need throughout the year. It's a program they have that they modeled after another company

You might have extra charges for extra medicines or extra care. Dr Groth is the one. He is very knowledgeable and comfortable. He is a gentle man and seems very concerned with your fears in dealing with your animal.

It's pretty easy to get in, this is a new business. When he is really busy, he will try to fit you in between other appointments if needed.

It was wonderful. They open till very late at night. Staffs were very nice and accomodating. Our dog came home happy and healthy. I especially loved the departure bath. It only costed us $15 to bring home a clean happy dog.

    Pets Remembered Cremation Service
They provided excellent service at a very sad time for us. They also did ink paw prints for us and also gave us a lock of Jack's hair. A few days after we picked up the cremains, we received a very sweet card of sympathy in the mail from them. Their compassion and attention to detail helped us navigate a very difficult time.

    Diamond Lake Animal Hospital
I love them. We had to put our cats down and my husband could not get in but now they remodelled the place and they have a handicap section. They do not charge for office calls but only for the vaccination. It is really unsual because other places charge $30 just to walk in the office. I will use them again.

It was 15-20 years ago that I came to this animal clinic. The cats do not like to ride in cars and we used to have a house car vet but she moved out of town. I had to find an office and it was the most close and most reasonable and that was 20 years ago. I will use them again.

    VCA Bloomington Animal Hospital
We had been going to VCA Bloomington Animal Hospital since 1996 when we moved here from Fort Dodge, IA.  Then it was called Bloomington Veterinary.  We went to the clinic through 3 dogs and 2 cats.  They used to have experienced Vets that stayed for years and you could go in a recognize front staff and the doctors.  Since they have been taken over by VCA they over the years have increasingly gone down hill.  All the old staff are gone.  It is more like a swinging door for young vets to come in and learn and then leave.  It seems no one stays long.
We have been thinking about changing vets for awhile because of this and the lack of caring or customer service there.  We gave them one last chance when our cat got sick and was loosing weight.  They ran blood work and a young vet who just started there called me on the phone and said our cat had Chronic Kidney failure and didn't know how long he had.  They talked us into 3 days of bringing him in and they kept him all day giving him fluids.  We changed food that was more healthy and nothing changed with his kidney numbers so we thought all was good.
A few weeks ago he stopped eating and was throwing him up so we took him to Apple Valley Emergency Room at the Animal Hospital.  They ran various test and couldn't find what was wrong but put him on meds to help with the nausea and not eating.  They suggested we have an x-ray and a ultrasound.  This was a Sunday.  On Monday  made an appointment with a new vet to get the tests.
Believe it not - the young vet from VCA Bloomington called because she got a copy of the paperwork.  I was surprised because she had told us she would call every couple months and check on our cat and never did.  But now she asked if we want to bring him in their for the tests.  I said he was doing fine just to get her off the phone.  I felt like she was only called to get us to come there for the tests and make money for VCA Bloomigton.
After the tests at the new clinic we were told that he didn't really have Chronic Kidney Failure.  His numbers were borderline but never changed.  It was more like pre-kidney failure.  But we did find out the weight loss was attributed to Cancer.  Lymphoma to be exact.  He is almost 15 so we are opting out of Chemo or surgery but are giving him meds to keep him comfortable for the next few months.
I don't know if it would have made any difference if we would have got the right diagnosis from the vet at VCA Bloomington but it doesn't make me feel any better and I will NOT be taking any more pets to this clinic and would NEVER recommend them to anyone else.  This was a great clinic that just went down hill with customer service, vet techs, doctors, etc.   It seems like all they care about it the money.
