Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Apple Valley

Our water heater had started to leak. I have a home appliance warranty and submitted a claim. They assigned it to Champion to do the service. I was called to set up the appointment within the promised 24 hour (actually early Monday morning). They were able to come out the next day. Adam arrived well within the promised time period. He quickly determined the water heater needed to be replace. He worked with the warranty company and quickly got authorization to replace it. He very professionally answered all my questions and said he could even replace it yet that day as a co-worker had the model needed on his truck. Adam left to go get it and quickly returned (even with a snow storm happening). He properly protected the floors on the route to the basement and within a short time had the new heater installed. He then took the time to explain the operation of it and to make sure we did not have any further questions. I would recommend Champion to anyone needed water heater work.

It was EXPENSIVE. More than the going rate. They charged me $1875 to replace an electric water heater in one of our rentals. This is DOUBLE the going rate. I know this because I had a similar water heater replaced in one of our other units this past summer for just under a $1000. The year before that, I replaced another one for about the same cost. This unit was in a different part of the city so I called them since they were close. Be sure to ask them up front how much your service will cost. I failed to to this. Since it was a Friday and our renter needed hot water, I couldn't wait another day to call another plumber otherwise I would have. I will never call or use them again.

I contacted Doug at TLC because my water heater started leaking and I also had a few other smaller items to deal with. He scheduled an appointment with my the next day. (I had not told him it was leaking so I was very happy with him coming out the next day.) He assessed the situation and told me that he could do the work the following morning. He had the water heater delivered to my house and the old one hauled off. He installed the water heater and advised me on my other questions. Some of my problems he just told me how to fix it himself. I would hire TLC again!

Arrived on time. He was very polite and was a hard worker. He did have a fair amount of difficulty with the oldest of the two water heaters, because it had never been flushed. Consequently, the water drain valve got plugged up because of all the sludge (calcium, etc.) Three times, the tech had to take apart the valve to clean it. The newest water heater went relatively smoothly. In all, he was probably here about 3 hours, which went beyond the Groupon deal. I was correctly charged an extra $185.00 for the time and work involved. He suggested, and I concurred that the water softener was probably not operating correctly, which turned out to be true. My only complaints were ( 1) that he checked for gas leaks around the water heaters and the furnace and he said he was detecting a small leak around a furnace pressure valve. I immediately called my Service Plus for a tech to come out and check for the gas leak. That tech could not find one. (2) The tech also spent too much time trying to sell me a service plan for the water heaters and furnace.

A Pronto technician came out to our recently purchased home for a furnace and hot water heater tune-up. He was polite and professional. It only took him a minute to look at the furnace before he found a large crack in the heat exchanger so he didn’t do the furnace tune-up. We had some questions which he seemed to answer knowledgably. We received a home warranty from the seller of this home so we decided to pursue the purchase of a new furnace through that warranty. The technician did work on the hot water heater but wasn’t able to drain the sediment because the hose fitting on his hose broke. He mentioned that it most probably had not been maintained over the years; so I would think that draining the sediment would be important and according to Pronto's website it is part of the cleaning/tune-up. Despite the fact that he didn’t do the tune-up on the furnace and didn’t do a complete tune-up on the hot water heater we were still charged the $148.50 that we were quoted for the two tune-ups. We signed the invoice stating that we were satisfied with what had been done and we paid the invoice so I guess I should be happy but I feel a bit ripped off. I didn’t know that the water heater hadn’t been drained until after the technician left. My husband talked to him more than I did and I don’t think he realized that that was supposed to be part of the tune up. And honestly, our furnace had just basically been ‘red tagged’ and we were a little shell shocked.

Our experience with Pronto was top-notch! I was impressed from the moment I called...I actually talked to a real person right away. Jason was very helpful and gave me a lot of information, which was helpful in determining what direction we were going to go. Our existing water heater was not even 6 years old and it was leaking and corroded. I e-mailed Jason pictures of our current water heater and he recommended a replacement and a warranty that covers repairs, replacement and labor for 12 years. Considering we were replacing a unit after only 6 years, we definitely wanted the warranty! They were on time for our appointment, wore covers for their shoes, put down plastic wrap to protect our carpets and were quick in removing the old unit and installing the new one. The entire process took less than 2 hours. All of the people we worked with in the process were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and would definitely recommend them!

Very disappointed. Called in plumber for water heater whose pilot light wouldn't stay lit. Online research showed it was probably the thermocouple. After $200 worth of fiddling around, determined that hey, it is probably the thermocouple, but he's unfamiliar with the brand (some cheap brand from Menards bought 10 years ago) and after lengthy conversation with the suppliers, orders a part. He'll call as soon as it's in to set up an appointment to install it. He says it'll probably cost $30 for the part and another $200 for installation.
A week later, still haven't heard from them. Finally call them up to find that they do have the part (but didn't bother to call me) and they'll set up an appointment that afternoon for installation. Find out part cost $209, not $30 estimated. Another $100 for installation and it still doesn't work. They will not return the part! I'm now down $500 with nothing to show for it.
He says now it's probably the gas control valve, he'll have to order it, it will probably cost me another $300 with another $200 installation. If I accept this offer, I would have paid the cost of  a new water heater and been without hot water for over 2 weeks.
Will not use this provider again. I won't pay another $500 for a fix that might not work. I'll find a different provider to install an entire new waterheater.

We've used this plumber before and Dave his very prompt, professional, polite and does a good job. His prices are reasonable as well. While he was repairing a broken garage faucet he noticed that we had an extension cord and plugs too close to our water heater and explained how it could start a fire. We hadn't noticed that and were very pleased he did and took action to move it away. We will use him again if needed and would recommend him to others.

As a stay at home parent I am largely the one calling on companies when something breaks or goes bad. When I called Doug at TLC plumbing he immediately put me at ease. My husband had poured an entire pot of pasta down the garbage disposal clogging our main line. He was someone I could be comfortable with when he was in my home with my children present. He never tried to up sell me and was almost 1/2 the price of Ben Franklin's quote. He just did a WONDERFUL job and I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone in need of a plumber.
