  • I called on phone and set appointment for service when I was still at my home in Minnesota.  Work was performed on time and he did a very good job.  He was referred to me and I will be referring him to others.

  • The experience in general was about a C/D grade, but the efforts put forth by the owners, Chris and Eric, was an A+, which is why we gave it an overall B grade.
    Upon purchasing the offer, we were contacted right away, and very soon after, someone was out here to look at the deck, give an estimate, and explain the process going forward. That went very well, and the sale rep was wonderful--very friendly and conversational, and professional. We were told that we'd get a phone call in April to set scheduling, and that the deck would be power washed, loose boards would be nailed down, and then the painting would occur. On 4/16, I emailed the sales rep just to touch base, and he responded the same day saying he'd contact me again soon and that everything would be done by early May.
    Weeks went by with no contact from Aim High. On 5/16, we left a voicemail for our rep. No response. On 5/20, I emailed him the following: "I'm following up to check and see where things are at with scheduling. I don't believe we have gotten a call since your last email, and my husband left you a voicemail this past Saturday. I'm sure you're quite busy with it being decent weather, but please email me or give us a call at your earliest convenience."
    The next day I received an email response saying he was not handling our deck, that we should've gotten a new contact number for us to call (which we never got), and I quote, "hope u feel better taking it out on me." I was very taken aback by that inappropriate, uncalled for, and unprofessional response.
    My husband called one of the owners directly the following day, 5/22 (already after when we were initially told the entire project would be done), and I'm not sure what happened during the conversation, but we were not on any schedule at that point. Chris, the owner, put us on the schedule, and one of his workers came out to power wash within a weeks time, but we weren't home when this happened. My husband was very pleased in talking to and working with Chris, Chris was very responsive, and we appreciated being scheduled so soon.
    About 3 weeks later on 6/16, 2 guys came to stain the deck. But none of the loose boards were nailed down like we were told they would be, and I even saw one of the workers just paint over bird droppings without washing them or even brushing them off. They were here 6 hours and didn't finish because they didn't have enough paint. They told me they'd come back to finish it in a day or two, and that it would NOT need as second coat (even though the product itself says a second coat is required). I wasn't exactly ecstatic about that, but understood, and thought they know better than me.
    However, when we both went out to look at the work that had been done that day, it was really obvious that it needed a second coat overall, or at least some serious time spent doing touch ups and making sure it was all painted. Some spots were completely bare, there was paint on our siding, on the hoses, and even a long streak of it down our driveway from when they hauled their stuff back to their vehicle. We were both pretty worked up about how things stood at this point. My husband again called Chris and said that it would need some more work than just a finish of the first coat, and again, Eric was great. The weather wasn't so great around this time, so he had indicated that they'd be out within a few days.
    Two days later, they did return. One of the same workers who had already been out here, along with the other owner, Eric. That was a pleasant surprise, and he was wonderful. He was friendly and explained that he wanted us to be happy with the result and he'd do whatever he could to make that happen. He and the other worker finished the first coat, and walked around to ensure that everything was painted. He said not to hesitate to contact him if we had any issues, saw any spots that we wanted visited again, etc. They left and I was very happy with the way Eric approached the situation--he was great.
    The finished product is great, and we know the product we selected wasn't the easiest to work with so we know it took some extra elbow work on the workers' end to get it to look good.
     I would work with them again, but really, only if we could deal with the owners directly all the way through, which isn't necessarily realistic.

  • Curt was very nice and easy to work with and he did excellent work. He truly cared about the work he did for us. For example, we picked a deck color and Curt gave us another option. He even made an extra trip to our house to drop off a comparison of the two colors. We were so grateful for the feedback because the color he suggested we ended up liking the color so much better than the one we had originally chosen. He really cared about the final product. Every time Curt said he would be at our house to give an estimate, power wash, and to stain the deck he showed up when he said he would. He was very reliable. I would hire him again without any hesitation. I already asked him for an estimate on another outdoor job. I have high yet realistic expectations when hiring someone to do work on our house and Curt met these expectations.

  • Arrived late afternoon and completed cleaning about two hours later.

    It cost $55.00 extra because more windows were cleaned than was included in the contract. The vender charges sales tax on his work and also on the $109.00 of the original Angie's list contract, which I later found out from the State Revenue Dep't is not taxable. So the contractor owes me $8.00.

  • Curt was fabulous to deal with and did a wonderful job!  I got his name off of Angie's list and originally called him about painting/staining the deck, which was in rough shape.  He came out promptly to assess and estimate.  While he was here, I also asked him about power washing the house.  He explained the work he thought necessary and the product he would used.  Gave what I thought was a very reasonable estimate.  I called him later to ask him to go ahead with the work.  He gave me the two dates he would do the work (one day for the power washing and two days later for the deck staining, allowing for the wood to dry.)  No rain, so he came on the dates indicated - the first day by himself with a power washer and two days later with a small crew to roll on the stain.  They did a great job -  neat, did not drip paint on the new patio below the deck.  The house and the deck look fabulous.  I would hire Curt and Spruce It Up again in a heart beat.

  • I hired Don Wolney to power wash and stain my deck, and also to do several ?handyman? jobs.  This work was completed over three days (because of some rain), and he even came on July 4 so we could get this work done, as I wanted to get my house on the market.  Don gave an estimated time of arrival each day, and arrived at the stated time.  The deck looks great, and the other tasks were completed as requested.  I would definitely recommend hiring Don for painting or work you need done.

  • The physical project was completed in a timely manner.  Frank stopped by the Friday before the job to walk through the paper work and get the materials ordered.  They arrived shortly after 8am, the only holdup was that the dumpster which FBC furnishes in house was very late to arrive.  The crew started the tear-down without the dumpster and pilled the debris in our driveway over a tarp.  When the dumpster arrive everything had to then be moved into the container, no problem for us but caused a minor delay in the project.  To my surprise the roof, gutters, and garage door wrap were all replaced in one day.  Frank did stop by the next day to walk through the project with me and to paint the exhaust stacks to blend with the new shingle color.  I did find about 12 nails throughout my yard through the next week during mowing and landscaping which is to be expected.  Overall I was very pleased with the workmanship and materials used.  We were looking at going with All-Star construction with whom we received a quote from prior, and did work on my brother and father's homes, but ended up choosing Frank after speaking with him on multiple occasions.  The price was a couple hundred less than All-star for the roof, but the big savings was the gutters which were about half the price of most of the competitors.  Thank you FBC Concepts for a wonderful new roof, it has completely changed the image of my home.

  • Well, to say the least I will never hire them again and will not recommend them to anyone, if anything I will tell people not to use them.  They showed up a half hour late, though  very polite and professional. They cleaned the interior of our windows and then proceeded to go outside and power wash. When they were finished with that clean the exterior of the windows and replace the screens.  I have two small children so when they had finished the inside and most of the power washing we left.  When I came home I found that all of my windows were still water spotted and dirty, the slides that I paid extra to have delux cleaned were still as dirty as before they came, and my house still had visible dirt, cob webs and bugs.  I proceeded to immediately call the company to let them know that they would need to come back and repeat the service and explained why.  They told me that they would be back out the following Tuesday as they would be in the area doing another home and would come here after.  The other home they were doing was my mother-in laws house whom I referred, and now wish I wouldn't have.  They were supposed to arrive at my home at 4pm.  At 4:30 they called and said that my mother in law had added on two chandeliers and wanted to know if they should go ahead with them and come to my home another day or should they tell her that they would need to come back because I needed them to do my house.  I told them to just finish hers and come to my house the following week.  When I asked her how it went and did her chandeliers look nice she said that they didn't do them because they had to leave to finish my home and would have to come back to her house another day.  I told her that they never came to my house and that they had told me they were finishing hers.   Well, they lied to both of us!  Needless to say as of today they still haven't been back to my house.  I have been calling each day and speaking with office personell or the manager and that his father the owner would like to come out and take a look after I had emailed pictures which they had asked to see ahead of time.  This morning I still hadn't heard from anyone by 1130am and was told the owner had just come in.  The owner called me back in about a half hour and arranged to come out to my home at 3pm today.  When he arrived we walked the perimeter of my home and also took a look inside. He simply told me that we had hard water and it didn't look good!  Well the fact that it wasn't clean wasn't the worst part.  The worst part is that we had a paver patio installed two weeks before we had our home cleaned and I had specifically told them to be careful to not damage the patio.  Well, they did....grease or oil spots in numerous locations of which I CANNOT get out for the life of me.   So on with the story, the owner continued to say he had no idea what went wrong and kept avoiding the issue of the patio.  When he was done looking around I asked how and when are we going to take care of these issues.  He said he would have to go back to the office and speak to the manager.  I could not tie down even a time when he would get back to me.  I said I was very dissapointed and that I would not eat the cost of fixing the pavers and that at this point I just wanted the patio fixed and he could go about his merry way.  He just kept avoiding the situation and I then proceeded to tell him that I felt like he was now passing the buck.  At no time did I raise my voice or get nasty.  This is where he started yelling saying he is not passing the buck and if he didnt care he wouldnt have come out.  I calmly asked him to not yell and lower his voice.  He finally just completely lost it and said he is leaving and he isn't doing this and up and left.  Well the moral of the story he is not going to do the job I hired his company to do or stand behind his employees and fix what they damaged! I am totally disturbed that people can run a company like this.

  • We contacted Affordable Solutions for an estimate.  Andrew quickly responded and provided the estimate in realtime on one visit.
     He provided helpful advice for color selections and referred us to Sherwin Williams for additional help in selections.  The bid was competitive and once accepted we were able to schedule the work in a reasonable time and he was accommodating to our schedules.  A 1/3 downpayment was required. Work was competed in a timely fashion by Andrew and a crew of 3-4.  They did  a nice job of painting all exterior trim, shakes and doors. Also power washed and stained deck.   Deck probably could have used more sanding after the powerwash raised some grain but this may be personal preference.   Prior to final payment they provided for a final inspection during which a few items were noted and quickly fixed. Post project clean-up left a bit to be desired but Andrew used the opportunity to train his crew and again they were responsive.  After a couple months, the work seems to be holding up well.
