  • Called and made appt for estimate. Estimator never showed. Called office. Receptionist sounded out of it. Took my phone number and said she'd called me back. Never did. If the business is this bad from the beginning, how and why would anyone want to hire you?

  • The crew was very efficient and professional. They performed all work that I expected to be completed. The clean up was excellent. They also provided feedback on the health of my trees. I would definitely recommend this company for tree service and will be calling them back for any future work that needs to be completed.

  • This company was hired by my next-door neighbor to remove a tree. I had left for the day just as they started work, and didn't return until after dark. The next morning I noticed damage to the front of my property, along with debris in the street and mud/tire tracks on the sidewalk in front of my home. I called the company phone number and left a message. The owner (Joe) called me back and acknowledged the situation. He gave a somewhat humorous explanation for why they left without finishing the clean-up or repair to the lawn (said there was a big football game on and he wanted to let the crew go in time to watch it). All in all he was very nice about it and said that they did a lot of work in the area and would come by some time within the next week with topsoil and grass seed to address the problem. I waited a little over one week and no one ever came out. I phoned again and after leaving another message, had a second conversation with Joe. He told me he forgot and was out doing estimates. He apologized and said he (or someone) would be there the next day. Again, no one ever showed up. Upon talking to my neighbor (who had watched them perform the original work) I also found out that in the course of removing the tree, they were actually on top of my house, walking around on the roof. They never had permission take heavy equipment across the lawn, let alone walk around on my roof. In the end, I'm not sure which Is more disconcerting: The fact that they had this kind of disregard for someone else's property, or the fact that the owner said they would deal with it (twice), and never kept his word.

  • They do great work and they'll real good about their prices are very reasonable, the only thing that sticks out in my head is he came by maybe two or three weeks later requesting payment when we had already paid him in full and I had to show him we had already paid him. There was something going on they were switching over to some kind of credit card thing and his mother was taking care of it, there was some miscommunication somewhere on his end but I really didn't liked that a lot.

  • Estimate provided on 7/6/2016. I asked Horton's to complete the work that day. The representative said they were 1-2 weeks out. After 3 weeks I called to get an indication of when the work would be completed. The person I spoke to indicated she would talk to the owner and call me back. I have since called back 4 other times and I can get no information about when of if they will trim my trees. Horton's has never called me. I am flexible about when it gets done and I understand it's a small job, but I can't stand poor communication and customer service. It had now been 6 weeks since the initial estimate. UPDATED 8-18-16. The work has now been completed.

  • Jason was a pleasure to do business with. He came out and gave the estimate on Friday and the work was completed the following Monday. I came home and the work was complete. Took two large branches down hanging over our house, took down sucklings and deadwood.  Cleaned up nicely.  Will definitely use them again.

  • not well. not responding to phone calls. always going to get to it next week. would not firm up a date. then had a storm and one of the branches fell on the house which was supposed to be already removed. once insurance was involved, then he reacted and doubled charged for some services. eventually was resolved in small claims court to our satisfaction. only seems to like insurance jobs because he can make more money.

  • Everything turned out okay. They could have been more clean and precise. It was a rainy day though. They came a little late and didn't expect them to come since it was raining. The front turned out fine but the back yard along the fence was not to my standards. They left behind trash and was not happy with that. I look at is that they were here to just to the job and not care about what I wanted.

  • Contacted provider to perform tree trimming, tree removal and landscaping. He didn't show on the original date that we had agreed upon to give the estimate.  When he did come for what I thought was just supposed to be to give the estimate, he said he wanted to do the job that day instead of just giving the estimate and returning, as we had discussed on the phone,  because he stated it was a long way for him to return.  He did remove one small tree that was dead.  He said he didn't have the right  equipment to do the trimming of the remaining trees and  then began to complain that his equipment was not functioning properly.    He said his trimmer was not working so he left weeds around the tree that sits in the yard.  Then he complained that his lawnmower, that looked many years old, was not working properly either.  He said he would return to complete the job in a couple days and never returned.  I had already paid him after I thought the job was partially complete so I called him twice.  The first time I called he gave me a date and time that he would return but never showed or called.  I called him a second time maybe about a week and some days later and he told me that his truck had broken down.  He then made another promise to return and never showed but when I called again he got smart with me and said he had other customers and couldn't bend over backwards for me.  I said I didn't want him to bend over backwards but we did have a verbal contract and he had been paid for work he did not complete.  He was very rude and then told me that I wasn't going to throw up money in his face.   I didn't understand what he meant by that, I merely wanted the services that I paid for or a refund to hire someone else to complete the job.  Because I purchased my house less than two years ago I have been doing a lot of repairs and upgrades I have been fortunate enough, until this experience,  to have come into contact with people and companies who have provided great service!!  I'm not one of those people who complains and I've never had an experience like this. So I just want others to be aware and not be ripped off by Hardwood Tree Service, and Bill who is the owner.

  • The meeting went extremely well.  had to wait until crew in area...only one week.  cherry trees in Michigan took a big hit this winter. in the metro Detroit area .ALL of the weeping cherries leaved out about ten percent.  clld a pro for an opinion.  he told us the tree was alive.  no fertilizer. call them in the fall for tree fertilization.  He said not to worry, it would be fine.  any pruning of dead branches should be done in the fall.  give the tree a chance.  I cried over this tree.  His repeated (my fault) assurances made me feel much better.  As a side note,  the tree produced a few flowers the following week.  highly recommend this company
