ASomerset Painting & Professional ImprovementsWe engaged Somerset Painting to paint the brickwork on our house to match the color of our newly installed vinyl siding. It was important for us to hire someone who was diligent about the prep work to ensure our new siding and trim was not painted or damaged, as well matching the paint to our siding. My wife and I spent a fair amount of time screening potential contractors, and based on the quality reviews and in-person consultation, settled on Somerset. As promised, the crew did an outstanding job in carefully prepping our house, as well as the paint job, which matched the color of our siding exactly! AMandarino ConstructionGreat work by Mandarino Construction, and they had the lowest quote. They also honored their quote from February, even though I didn't give them the go-ahead until April and they didn't start until October. They were fully aware of my city's codes, applied for the the building permit and scheduled the open-form inspection before pouring. They knew all of the things I either didn't know or didn't think to ask, such as a 4-foot depth under the front stoop. The concrete is nice and even with the garage and the street, and is graded to guide water away from the house in all directions.- Rajiv A.

When he said he’d call, he did. When he said what time his crew would show up, they did! He never once wavered on the price. AGrennan ConstructionWe are very pleased with the work that was completed on our chimney. We had lose bricks that had fallen from the top needing repair/replacement. Their mason, Jason was courteous and cleaned up both days before leaving. He clearly explained what needed to be done and how he would do it. He did an excellent job and I would highly recommend Grennan construction. They gave me a quote and even lowered their initial quote after a phone call.- john K.

ABrickworks Property Restoration LLCI had a very good experience with Brickworks. A little mishap in communication after I agreed to the quote, but that was quickly remedied. Josh was the salesman that came out. On time, and very helpful. I was his last stop of the day at 5pm, yet he didn’t leave until close to 7pm and I never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything. He was a straight shooter and the price was simply the price. They weren’t the cheapest, but I felt what they were offering in solutions was the best. Jeff’s team came out for two days. Both days they were prompt, courteous, and really making sure the customer’s expectations were met. They cleaned up well, and made sure at the end of the job we reviewed all the work together to ensure I was happy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his team.- Kevin W.

FPurchased their $150 chimney sweep deal on Angie's List. Company emailed me to tell me it might be a week or so before they could get out and that was fine. I haven't heard back from them and had reached out to them via Angie's List twice. Would not recommend as they are horrible at communication.

FQuick to underbid everyone and responsive at first. I had wanted to do the porch first since it was covering portions of the outside that needed to be painted. That wasn't accomplished. They give you a quote and then pitch it to a 3rd party whom you never speak with. They failed to paint as directed and cost me additional supplies because they kept painting the sections the wrong colors. They failed to mention what might be needed to complete the job and even though I asked several times on the second day what might be needed from me the next day so I could make arrangements, never thought to mention that my front door had to stay open for a few hours which I could have planned for with any warning other than minutes before and after I was already at work. They left a mess and came back to only blow off debris on my porch leaving my deck and yard looking like a junk yard. They quoted a cement job far less than others and promised to complete it this year. Only to do the paint job first which I asked them not to do which they assured me would not be problem. Now they claim they quote me a price that would lose them money. I've even offered to work with them but they have decided to ignore me. My house now has a paint job which isn't bad but was not done to the very simple directions we gave and has incomplete portions on the face of it. We were given the excuse that he had to pay them hourly but never acknowledged how much time was wasted due to a lack of commutation with me and their 3rd party crew. My porch will now not be done until next year by another company which means I get to start the whole process over again. Very disappointed. Gave them ample opportunity to make this right. Was upset that they couldn't honor their bid and was even willing to meet them halfway or all the way, just to be ignored and now I highly doubt they ever finish repairing the issues they left with the paint job, which I already paid for. Very deceiving and unprofessional. I never once was rude towards any of them and am very frustrated and upset by their inability to communicate and honor their word. I got the bid at the end of August and still haven't gotten a sincere answer from them since they took my money for the paint job.
