Radon Testing reviews in Troy

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • We hired Darryl to do home inspections twice. Both times were excellent service. Darryl knows what he is talking about and can quickly identify potential issues with the house. In our first inspection we identified potential water damage in the basement and ran a mold test. We luckily avoided a house with black mold thanks to his services. The second inspection was just as good at another house that we ended up purchasing. He has all the latest technology in order to do his job effectively and even better, provides a home inspection report online in a PDF within a day that neatly organizes all the findings. And you can access this report at anytime after completion. I would highly recommend Stocks Home Inspections to anyone I know.

  • My basement radon value is above 4, so we made appointment with Protech to install the radon mitigation system.  they came today very punctual and they really very very knowledgeable. they measured my basement and try to find a good spot. Unfortunately, because of deck right outside of one good spot , and for another spot, a lot of pipes tangled there. They did not just install the system. They told us everything and also give us advice. Although we choose to install later after make a small changes in the basement. We really appreciate! They are truly honest, professional and knowledgeable.

  • Provided a 4 day radon test (48 hour test option too) with electronic testing machines and instant results. They tested 2 separate locations simultaneously. I was impressed. Mitch had a lot of knowledge and answered a lot of questions. He even met with me (the buyer) after meeting with the seller at a different location. I would recommend this company to do your testing for radon in the home buying process due to their knowledge, electronic testing machines, instant results and customer service. They do remediation too if needed but we only used them for testing.

  • I called Milestone and even though they do not service my area, they were nice enough to give me advice and answer questions pertaining to the radon testing and remediation process. This company has been radon testing for some time and knows its stuff. This was above and beyond since the company knew they would not make any money from this. I would recommend this company to do radon testing if they service your area.

  • We called Protech for a quote a year ago (ended up not buying the house) and were so impressed with Jerry that when we finally got a new home and needed mold remediation done for our home we were selling, I called Jerry back up without hesitation.
Jerry was very thorough with his quote and his team delivered a completed job without any problems at all. Part of the work included extending the bathroom vent fans up through the roof. Originally Jerry only saw two, but when Protech came out to do the work they ended up finding a third. Without us knowing, they went out and purchased another vent and did the third bathroom vent fan as well for no extra charge. They could have easily ignored this and left it, but instead went above and beyond to do the job right.
After the work was completed the team cleaned up after themselves, put everything back, and it was if they were never there.

  • I called several radon mitigation system companies. I was told different things. Different companies use different fans RP201 RP145 Fantech and other types and sizes. Some put the fan in the attic others on the outside of the house. There are two different ways either through the sump pump or drill a hole in the basement floor. The subject was so new to me and I got so confused. Kurt from Protech answered my call after I had called several others to inquire. Kurt assured me that they can go with which ever way I choose and that he will leave it open until the guys come over to check according to my house which system would be best. He did not over sell me any additional items like other companies have tried. Other companies were trying to sell me a larger fan, radon level indicator, painting pipes to match house and so forth..Non of that was necessary. I was informed if I wanted to check radon level, I could call the city and they would do the testing including lab fee for only $10. So I just went with Protech because they were clear, simple and very informative. Kurt kind of eased my concern and explained things beautifully.
.Greg and Bob came over. They were very professional. Did an awesome job. The house had very old basement windows and one had a crack and broke during the installation. Protech guys were equipped with window material and fixed the window for me so that I did not have to replace it if I did not want to. Bob and Greg were very efficient and did an excellent job! They explained how to check if the system is working and what places I need to check. Right on the system there is an indicator. All is well. I have not tested the radon with the kit I was given yet. I will report again when I do. The Radon level was 8.0 before mitigation system installation.

  • After a prior home fell through due to an appraisal issue, Dave performed an inspection on the second home we were looking at.  We hired Dave due to this reputation on Craig's list.  Dave seems to be fairly backlogged with work on regular basis, so unfortunately he was not available to do our first home inspection in timeframe required.
Dave completed a thorough inspection of our home from attic to basement taking over 5 hours to complete.  Dave really got into the details of the home and identified our major and minor areas of concern.  On the positive side - Dave was thorough, created an excellent report with pictures, and was good in responding to phone calls before and after the inspection.  Dave uses and electronic radon monitor which is better than other's more basic tests.
On the improvements side, it would really be beneficial to have infrared scanning completed as part of the inspection especially where there are concerns about water issues as we had (after inspection Dave told me he could sub-contract this through him if desired - but I didn't know at time of appointment).  I know an inspector must error on the side of caution and they cannot specifically state the 'ideal' fix to many issues.  In our case, Dave identified many potential water issues - which frankly scared my wife and I about the home, and others we had look at the report.  Dave's primary recommended was to have additional infrared testing, which we had done, but this was subsequent to the report (and we needed to mentally recover from the thought that we may not have the major issues originally thought after there were no issues identified).
Overall I liked Dave and his work and would recommend him to others.  For my piece of mind, having infrared testing done for water or insulation issues is well worth the cost and I would make sure I include in any future inspections.

  • Patrick was quick to respond to phone calls and was able to setup an appointment in the timeframe we needed. Patrick did a thorough inspection. We started on the outside of the home and identified some general maintance issues. We then covered the home top-to-bottom reviewing the attic, bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, doors/windows, electric, plumbing (basic checks), etc. What I like about Patrick was that he does use an infrared camera to see if there are any non-visible water issues (which helped build my confidence), and also uses an electronic radon monitor (which is different from many other typical radon tests). Patrick's use of technology is good and his report is produced on-site for you. What I felt could have been improved was only a few small things: 1) a little better explanation of what he was reviewing or what the tests were doing while going through the home, and 2) a report that incorporates pictures into it so that it even easier to discuss with homeowner (this is a balance between Patrick wanting to deliver the report to his customers asap and it taking a day longer to assemble). There were follow-ups to review with Patrick which he was quick to respond to and help out. I was satisfied with the service overall and would not have any issues recommending him to others.

  • I subscribed to Angie's List because my family and I just moved to the area. We are looking to purchase a house and Dave's company was at the top of the list. After reading everyone's comments, I called him up and set up an appointment to inspect a house that we are hoping to buy. We were NOT disappointed. He was FANTASTIC! He was thorough and meticulous and provided us a report the next day. I would ABSOLUTELY reccomend him to anyone. He was great!

  • I spoke with Julie to get more information on their services and then to schedule. She was very helpful, and their pricing was competitive. Martin performed the inspection, and he was punctual (even though we had to change the day and time on him) as well as very timely with his report and test results. His report was thorough, with good descriptions of the issues and useful pictures. Martin also helped afterwards when I had some follow-up questions and asked him about possible contractors.
We would use Structure and Site again, as well as recommend the firm to others.
