Do Tire Patches Work?

Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Troy

It was fine, but they won't make appointments after 5:30 on weekdays; they close at 8:30. I got there at 6; they had trouble with other cars and I ended up waiting till almost 9:00. Also claimed to have had trouble with the lug nuts, but i suspect they didn't know about the tire lock nut. If you work during the week, make your appointment for the weekend.
Also, they were a little baffled about the tire pressure indicator and were using a printout regarding my model car to try and get the the TPI light to go off, but the info just didn't apply. I spent the next week trying to turn off the tire pressure indicator, and the Discount Tire staff ended up telling me that VW indicators run a little low, and you need to inflate past the MPI. But, can't expect these guys at Cotco to know all the little tricks. They guys were certainly very nice, and professional.
If I had a new and basic US car, i would go back, but not with anything out of the mainstream.

Angies List for some reason wouldn't let me add the Belle Tire i wanted to review, the one on Maple Road in Troy, so i had to add it here. The BT on Rochester isn't so great either, lousy customer interaction, but this is about the Maple Rd. Store. I went online and picked out 4 tires and made an appointment fo the next day; Showed up, the guy says gimme your keys; not a word about the tires, like why these, are you sure they fit your needs, bla, bla.  It took 4 hours to put on 4 tires. i sat with other women in the lounge, they had been waiting also , one for three hours to get a tire fixed, the other, some other minor issue, also going on three hours for her wait. The guys at the counter generally ignore or treat you in a  very rushed manner unless you are a babe, then they all fall over you. i know, because i sat there and watched as a couple of very attractivber women came in, and these guys were al over it. When they were done with my car, 4 hours later, not a thanks, not a come back in  a few months to get them rotated, nothing. Just, your car is done, here are the keys. What a bunch of jerks. I will NEVER go to a Belle Tire again.
recently sold the car, got a new one and bought my tires at Discount Tire.

    Discount Tire
I had purchased 2 tires at Costco for my "new to me" used car, and decided I needed to buy the other 2 asap. i checked the availability at DT, and the fellows at Discount must have decided i sounded like an honest person on the phone, because they went ahead and got the tires w/o  an upfront payment; the tires on my car are a little unusual. I arived in the morning, and the DT staff, especially Ben, were awesome. very friendly, respectful, knowledgeable. Ben showed me a few things about my car (new to me, but used) that i found very helpful. Super quick, I was out of there in half an hour. I actually got to work on time, and I'd arranged to be late.Wow. i will always get my tires at DT, at this location in Lathrup Village.

I trust them. They don't do any work that's not necessary. I feel like they've treated me right all the years. They're great. My family and most of my friends were going there and they had the same outcome.

    Belle Tire
Once again, I brought my car in to have a flat tire checked. They removed a nail, patched the tire and sent me
on my way ... no charge. I can't say enough good things about these guys. I've been coming in to them for tire and auto services for years and have never been anything but totally satisfied.

Car was towed to Troy Auto Care because the car would not start and made a clicking noise when ignition was turned on. The problem turned out to be a shorted battery which was replaced.
Had also asked to have a tire sensor checked because since owning the car the back right tire sensor was always on. It was taken back to the GM dealer with no resolution. Troy Auto found a faulty tire sensor and replaced it.
They called to let me know the tires were bad (I knew this) and asked if I wanted them to put new tires on and do a front end alignment and I said yes. The tires were more reasonable than any other place I checked and were the same quality as the ones I had checked into buying.
I called during the time all towing companies were extremely busy due to the weather but they were up front about being busy and told me I would have to wait a day to get it towed. I had another car so it didn't matter when they picked it up. They called and came out at 10 PM to pick it up so they could work on it the next day. Very professional and Don Hudson is the BEST!

    Discount Tire
I bought new tires from Discount Tire on January 6,2006 with warranty included Mileage- 70000 workmanship and materials-lifetime and 4 certificates for free replacement with a total price of $428.92. They were Uniroyal Tiger Paw AWP tires. The miles on my van was 37200 miles. I tried my best bringing the tires for rotation when it is due. I have the receipt with me which I misplaced (the January 6,2006) which I found only on 11/13/2012. Then on June 29, 2011 I went to the same Discount Tire store in Troy, Michigan and a guy by the name of Brian told me I need new tires. Since I misplaced the receipt and did not know any better I said okay. The mileage on my van was 69278 miles. They could have said that I have a warranty on the tires I purchased on 2006 with Mileage 70000 and the mileage I used was only over 32000 miles since they have the records. But they did not mention any of this. So they have me buy Michelin Tires this time with Mileage 65000 miles, warranty and 4 certificates for free replacement which cost me $595.00. Thank God I have the receipts with me so I went to Discount Tire and asked to talk to the manager, Mark. I told him about my dilemma and thought he would be able to help me since when I enter the store he had a sign saying to the effect my number one priority is your absolute satisfaction. So I showed the Discount Tire receipt from 2006 and 2011 on 11/15/2012 from the same store. His response was that he had to bring the old tires to the manufacturer and the tires are not available anymore. He went on to said their are a lot of stipulations with the warranty and tire needs to be rotated and so on. I told him they should have said something last year about my warranty with the tires I purchase from 2006. Mark even ask me did you tell Brian you need new tires. How in the world would I know unless they were (Discount Tire) the ones  to tell me I do need new ones. He continued to say I would like to help you out but  Mark did nothing at all. I was scheduled to rotate my tire so they did the service for me to my van. So buyer beware. To any of you who purchased Tires from Discount Tire please keep your receipts so they won't be able to make you buy warranty that they don't honor and sell new tires even if you have a warranty. Better yet, take your business somewhere else like Belle Tire.

It went very well. I scheduled for 5 pm, but then I called to ask if they could squeeze me in earlier. They said yes. The alignment was done in time - within an hour. The waiting area is very nice. The parking area is large. Access to facility is good. I asked the manager about the computerized print out sheet - caster, toe , etc. before and after values, and he explained these to me. After that I got more interested and read about the basics of wheel alignment from the internet.Toyota dealership charges $99 for alignment - that is a flat fee - for inspection plus actual alignment. Fix n go charged me $51.95 and then gave me a $10 discount. The bill explains " if the vehicle cannot be aligned due to worn/bent front end parts, a $19.95 inspection fee will apply". Also see free rapid alignment ad by Sears. Another company charges nothing for inspection, $45 for front two wheel alignment, and $75 for four wheel alignment. In summary, there is a wide range of offers and prices in the market.

Midas Auto Service Experts - Troy
My car was making a rotational noise. I took it to my Acura dealer, who looked at it but said they found nothing, and therefore charged me nothing. The following day I began a 700 mile road trip, but had to stop within the first 40 miles because the car was violently vibrating. I pulled into a Sam's Club, where I had bought the tires, and they said it was a bad tire and a rear suspension problem. They did not have the proper tires for my car, but they balanced my tires and switched the location of the bad tire from front to back so that I would feel less vibration. It was a good temporary solution.
When returning from the trip, I took the car to Midas. I brought the car in during lunch hour and told them the history. They told me they were busy, but thought they could do the work before closing. They called an hour later to tell me that all 4 tires needed replacing, one was particularly bad, and that the alignment was bad. No rear suspension problems. They gave me a choice of 2 types of tires. I chose the better, more expensive tires, told them to fix the alignment, and add an oil change. The car was ready by 6:00 pm. It runs great. The manager of the store (Kevin) explained everything to me and was very professional. It is rare that car service managers take me seriously, perhaps because I am female. I trust Kevin and this Midas shop.

    Belle Tire
I didn't spend anything because I bought the tires from them. I have been very pleased with them. Every time I have needed some work done, such as a tire rotation, they have taken care of it. I am pleased with their work, and I am going to buy a new set of tires from them.
