As I started saying above, Dr. Jossens is amazing. She is very thorough and provides excellent medical care, often taking the time to research what's going on with my dog (as she has managed to come down with some lesser-known illnesses in her short 2 years of life). My dog seemed healthy when we brought her to Dr. Jossens as a brand new puppy, but Dr. Jossens noticed that something was not right. Even though the test results wouldn't come back for a few days, she instructed us to begin a set of medicines based on what she thought our dog had, and sure enough the test results confirmed her diagnosis and luckily we already had her on the meds. Since then my dog was touch and go, running into a few other health problems, and through everything Dr. Jossens has been extremely helpful and knowledgable. She also lays out the different treatment options and is very upfront about the associated costs, often suggesting less expensive options that can be tried before more expensive procedures when appropriate. Her ability to clearly explain what's happening with your dog and how to provide the appropriate treatment is also very appreciated. Overall I am so very glad that I've had Dr. Jossens as a vet for my dog. I truly believe that without her my dog would not be nearly as healthy and happy as she is today.

Dr. Jossens has a great dog side manner and is always helpful and polite to deal with. I've had situations where I've called her on weekends and off hours and she is always quick to respond. There was one circumstance when our dog was a puppy when she helped solve (at 1 am) a situation with our dog that was quite critical.

ANIMAL MEDICAL CENTER OF TRAVERSE CITY
I was referred to them and they have worked out well so far. They take of my dogs. Getting appointments set up are very easy. The vets here are very good with my dogs and can tell they care. Their pricing is very fair as well.

    Leelanau Veterinary Care
This guy is fantastic with animals. You know when someone just truly loves what they do- and connect with the animal and with you? Takes the time to listen about concerns, gives feedback / advice. Sincere and truly a big heart for all animals. You won't be disappointed. Also mails me annual medicines because I live a bit out of town. Personalized care.

Dr. Jossen's is excellent.  We have used Dr. Jossen's for 2 dogs and a cat now and I couldn't be more happy.  We had 2 english setters and she is very understanding of "working breeds", their needs, etc.  We have had a relationship with Dr. Jossens for over 7 years and she has dealt with our dogs from puppy to death in one case.  She is a true professional, very thorough, very understanding and a great doctor.

    BANFIELD THE PET HOSPITAL
I indicated when we came in that it was our first time and that we were looking into moving our veterinary care to their office. They did ask for my dogs shots records but never followed up in giving them to my dog. As i checked out I asked for information about the office saying once again that we may be switching practices. They didn't seem sure what to give me about the office and finally gave me a pamphlet about their animal well-care program. The front desk seemed disorganized and we did not receive good service. The tech that handled my dog was rough with my dog who was shaking and not kind to my dog at all. The vet seemed to be the only competent one there. She was kind, sensitive, sympathetic and gentle with my dog and with us. Great job vet! I only wish that this vet had her own practice because we would definitely go there, but the rest of the staff left us with a bad impression.

    BANFIELD THE PET HOSPITAL
Banfield provided a clean and pleasant clinic, kind people, well-trained professional veterinarians and vet techs, courteous and effective service, and two follow up calls from staff in the days afterward. Amazing service, great results.

    Grand Traverse Veterinary Hospital
My dog had a huge tumor growing on her cheek. I had taken her to Clark-Everett and the vet said it could be removed for apx. $500. I wasn't sure I wanted to invest the money because it didn't seem to bother her and she was 12 years old and it didn't seem that she would make it much longer because she had slowed down a lot. It was only a week or 2 after that the tumor started leaking and there was blood all over the house and it was obvious the thing had to be removed but it was after hours. They sent us to Grand Traverse Veterinary Hospital. The doctor was actually very nice. He looked at the tumor and said it wouldn't be a problem for him to remove it and he gave me an estimate of $500ish and I was surprised that the emergency $ amount was the same as the estimate from our vet and figured it was because they weren't performing any of the initial blood work, etc. and I agreed to the procedure. They let us stay there with our dog until she was asleep and sent us on our way, letting us know we would get a call and could pick her up in the morning. In the morning my daughter went to pick up our dog and called me from the office to tell me that they said the doctor made a mistake and the procedure was actually $700 and we were expected to pay it before we took our dog. We wanted our dog so we paid the price. I was infuriated! On the other hand, my dog was doing great and it was like I had a new dog - she was all peppy and spunky - so I just let this drop, though I did switch vets and still thought what they did was WRONG! He didn't say he was expecting it to be around $500 but it could be more.
Anyway, my dog recently passed away and I am going through records, etc., to toss out and I found the bill and it reminded me that I thought others should know that if they have an emergency at Grand Traverse Veterinary Hospital the difference between what they are quoted and what they are asked to pay may $200. But the work they did was excellent, hence the C.

    Bay Area Pet Hospital
My beloved family dog of almost 14 years woke in the morning throwing up and lost control of her bowels. She was shaky and struggled to walk. I called our vet and they had no openings and suggested Bay Area Pet Hospital. I called them sometime after 8a and they scheduled us for 11:30a. The staff were very kind and gentle. The doctor was compassionate and most helpful. We wound up having to euthanize my dog and it was one of the hardest things I things I remember ever having done. My daughter and my parents were allowed in the room. The staff gave us as much time alone as we needed to make the decision and then gave us as much as we needed before the process began. They made a little comfy bed on the floor and we held our sweet companion through the entire humane and peaceful ordeal and then we held her some more - again, we were given the time that we needed. The staffed teared up with us. A couple days later I stopped by and they gave me a paw print cast with the name on it.
The entire sad and heart wrenching ordeal was made easier by the staff and I am going out of my to write this review as a thank you for all they did for us that sad day.
