    The Bedroom Company
After a very thorough search and test of a number of mattress companies, we decided to purchase a mattress and box springs set from The Bedroom Company.  At the time of our purchase, they told us if we were not satisfied, we could return the mattress and choose another bed without a restocking fee.  After 30 days, we decided the mattress was too firm so we returned to the store and it was exactly as promised.  We chose another, softer mattress type and they arranged for pick up of the current mattress and dropped off the new one the very next day.
Here's especially what we liked:  1.) A lot of the inventory is Michigan manufactured and we like the buy American aspect of our purchase, 2.) No restocking fee, 3.) The mattress we purchased (and many in their inventory) are flippable, and 4.) The materials used are organic and some even renewable, 5.) No concerns about toxic off-gassing of the memory foams--they are Certipure Certified.
The sales employees were not pushy or hovering and let us really spend time testing the beds and checked on us once in a while to see if we had any questions.  We will definitely go back and purchase other beds with them and will recommend them to our friends.

    SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS LTNMRC
They sent a technician out from a local company to fix the washer itself, but they have yet to contact me regarding the damaged floor and removal of mold that was caused by the leaking. It also took Samsung a month to get a company out to look at the issue and then another two weeks to actually fix the problem. I would not use them for major appliances.

    CURRIE'S FURNITURE
Could someone give me the number to ART VANNS??? I made a personal commitment to myself that although I may "shop" curries inventory to find what I like, I'll never spend a dime in this store ever again. I'll find what I like and special order it elsewhere.
it started with a new house, and a complete rehab. I visited Curries and told them I needed new furniture for almost every room. The sales staff was extremely overzealous, pouncing on us like coyotees in a desert. Extremely over aggressive, even for the hungriest commission based employee. They were happy to show me all kinds of furniture for every room. I did find a dining set that seemded it would work, and paid for it, to be picked up later since they wouldnt deliver it. It was a few dollars (litterally) short of the $700 delivery requirement. Fine. Picked it up and they had a hard time finding it in the inventory. Finally did. Loaded it myself and took it home. Less than fourteen days later, the set went on sale in THEIR OWN STORE, for half that price. I called to see if they'd make an adjustment. Nope. All prices are already at their lowest. Hmm. Maybe I should have simply returned the item, and re-purchased it, but who wants to lug a dining room set around town to do that? I figured they'd have the integrity to honor their low price promise and make the adjustment. No dice.
Within 30 days, the first chair was wobbly and ready to split in the legs, because the wood frame was comming unglued. Within a few days, all of the other  remaining chairs came lose as well, and were unuseable. I called and sent e-mails, finally they called me and advised if I wanted to bring the chairs back, they'd look at them but it may be two weeks before they could complete it. Could I bring them and leave them that long, they asked. Sure, that dining set I just bought, I guess I didn't need that furniture
after all. Finally we agreed we'd do a few chairs at a time so we didn't need to use milk crates for dinner.
I asked to speak to the owner, and was directed to the guy who does furniture repairs.
Although he seemed helpful, he seemed to busy to do the repairs right away, and had to check if there was a cost to repair the furninture I bought less than 90 days ago. When I went to recover my furniture, the girl at the front counter tried to charge me for repairs. (REALLY??) The  girl continued that since the repair guy was out today, I'd have to come back another time. I stated he told me exactly where they were, and I could come by whenever they're open. She now said shed have to contact him because she didnt know which ones were mine. I reminded her that she had my original complaint, along with photos and my sales reciept, in her hand. She told me to go outside and walk around to the back delivery door. I told her my car was parked right outside the door where my chairs were, and she told me that door didn't open. I reminded her that this was the door I've used six times in a week, and it does open, very well. She told me I was wrong. I told her I was disappointed that the chairs would all break so quickly, she asked me if I bought "low end furniture". I told her I bought it here, and that for what I paid I presumed bought quality furniture, and she continued on about buying better quality furniture. (Seems the companies own employees questioned the quality of their own products..)   When I helped pick up and load my own chairs, she told me I couldnt use any doorway except the back loading dock, despite it being the opposite  direction and a long way away and my car was already in direct line of site of a closer door which was now opened. She grabbed the chair and told me I couldnt take the chair right now. I reminded her I had a paid reciept and it was agreed theres no charge. She tried to hold my chair and physicly take it away, and put it in a back room.
Wow. Never did figure out why I couldnt leave with  my own property?

I asked her if she really needed to be so rude, and asked for a manger. She told me she was the manager and I was a "j******". When I said excuse me, she said, "You heard me", and threw my chair down. I told her I wanted to speak to the owner, and although she threatened to get him, she never actually did. I really wish she did since I repeatedly begged her to do so. Been trying to reach the guy since the initial problem with poor quality furniture falling apart as soon as I got it home, but he'd never return my calls..
I finally did get out of that store, vowing to never spend a dime there again, although I'll be happy to go in and waste their time so I can find something and buy it somewhere else. I never did get any of the phone calls I was promised, which further supports my contention that this particular family business really isn't interested in quality, repeat business, commitment, or customer satisfaction.
Its unfortunate that a local company who claims to be so "family oriented" really couldnt care less about a familes furniture or a customers concerns. This is a really good example of why sometimes you shouldn't buy local, and why sometimes the national stores are a better choice.
Price, quality, and committment. Sorry, these are three things I just couldn't find at Curries Furniture in Traverse City.
Would I shop there again? Absolutely not. It's their loss though. If you remember the begining of my review, I said I was in the market for new furniture for the entire house.  Curries got $700 from me. They could have easily made ten times that, had the service and products been just a little better. It's ok though. There are plenty of other places to shop. Now I just laugh whenever I see their commercials on TV.

    JET Appliance Service
The company representative was quick to respond to my service request phone message. An appointment was made and the time for the appointment honored. The repairman was polite, quick to diagnose the problem, and the repair made to my satisfaction at what I consider a very reasonable cost.

Very well. He was the only repair person to call me back on a Saturday and work on a Saturday. Fast, reliable, gave me good advice, knowledgeable service man and fair pricing especially for weekend emergency work.
