Auto Service reviews in Traverse City

    TUFFY AUTO SERVICE CENTER
I took my car in to have the muffler inspected and repaired. After the inspection, the mechanic recommended additional repairs to my tie rods and struts. Trusting their advice, I agreed to move forward. After having my vehicle for nearly a week, it was returned in worse shape than what I left it. The car was dangerous to drive and put myself and others on the road at risk. 14After having another repair shop inspect my vehicle, I learned that some of the parts installed were the wrong parts, other parts were installed incorrectly, unauthorized work to my brakes was done, and my ABS brake line was cut. Tuffy charged me nearly $1500 for this horrible service and it costed me an additional $1400 to have the work corrected by another repair shop. I did reach an agreement with the owner for a full refund in exchange for returning the wrongfully installed parts and removing social media reviews. Unfortunately the refund transaction never cleared and after the business learned that I reported them to the State of Michigan, they rescinded their offer for a refund. The results of the investigation concluded that Tuffy of Traverse City LTD. violated the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Act. I will never recommend anyone to use this repair shop.

    Auto Lab of Libertyville
The folks at Auto Lab are extremely customer focused! They did a great job estimating what needed to be done and then getting the work done on time. This particular work required dismanteling some interior components. They made it look like nothing had been removed. Alignment along the interior seams was spot on again - just as it had appeared when I took delivery from the factory - not an easy thing to do.

    TRAVERSE MOTORS
Been with them for 15 years. Maintaining a Volvo is expensive, but their prices are competitive with other dealerships in Michigan. They did excellent work and they will take care of you. Communication is excellent. I cant say anything that needs to improve. Their waiting area has a tv, beverages, and snacks and coffee.

I was charged 423.00 for an alternator. The part was 321.00 dollars. My car you can buy the part for 150.00 dollars. So I understand they do some mark ups but 50 percent is crazy. The service tech was very rude that did my car as well.

    Sullivan Auto Clinic Inc
The bad news was it would cost between $1,300 and $2,000 for the transmission plus more for tires and breaks. Before doing anything they called, laid out the charges and all the additional work needed. Somewhere it was either implied or more likely said that this car wasn't worth the repairs needed. Very pleasant and helpful. They only charged (a very reasonable amount) for time spent checking over the car. I would go back in a second.

    Safelite AutoGlass
The service technician was completely professional, even while pointing out that I had ordered the wrong windshield (I said Ford Focus, my mom owns a Ford Fusion). He helped correct the order and was back within two days to install the windshield. Great attention to detail on both the installation and the clean-up, including Mom's garage floor.

i took my car to redmonds in 2015 for a transmission to be put in, i got it back a few months later, in july, parked it at home and the transmission that was put in was bad, in june 2016 i called, said i have been more then pacient, i want a refund, he said i was rude, wouldnt talk to me again, finally, a few weeks later they had found another transmission, i got it back in aug, the front end of my car had been run into things, leaving scuffs on both sides of the bumper and broke an indicator light on the drivers sice, the transmission is leaking fluid and the car has an oil leak now and im going to have to pay for both to be fixed i am not happy at all with the way things were done or how i was treated, and i would never recommend redmonds to anyone for any service!

    Northwest Oil Express
I passed several quick oil change places on my way to NorthWest Oil Express and no one had a line for service. When I arrived at NorthWest, however, I was fourth in line but it all went very quickly and was a very efficient, professional facility. And while I was waiting, several more cars got in line behind me. The people at NorthWest were very nice and very polite and went out of their way to make sure all their customers were handled quickly and professionally. I will definitely return here.

FIRST OF ALL, BEWARE OF ALL AUTO DEALERSHIPS, ESPECIALLY USED.   READ CONSUMER REVIEWS BEFORE GOING TO THE CAR LOT.   HONDA, TOYOTA, AND SUBARU ARE NOT  AS GOOD AS THEY ALWAYS WERE BEFORE.   SUBARU DENIED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY.   THEY WERE SCRIPTED TO SAY (FORESTER, OUTBACK, AND LEGACY)  OFF THE CHARTS OIL USAGE IS "NORMAL".    IF NOT NOTICED, OR UNCHECKED, CAN LEAD TO ENGINE DAMAGE.   THE CONSUMER HAS TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN ORDER TO GET ANY RESOLUTION.
EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE BASICALLY FORCED INTO INSTALLING A SHORT BLOCK ON PROBLEM CARS,  PROBLEMS ERUPTED...SOMETIMES AS SOON AS THE NEXT DAY.    MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT NOT EVERY CAR IS DEFECTIVE...SO IT IS A GAMBLE TO TAKE A CHANCE ON ONE.   NEVER COUNT ON A WARRANTY FOR CERTAIN.    SOME CUSTOMERS FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY THAT IF YOU USE A DIFFERENT OIL TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM - THE WARRANTY IS VOID.    (SINCE IMPORTANT INFO THAT BENEFITS THE CUSTOMER,--BUT COSTS THE DEALERSHIPS MONEY---IS NOT OFFERED BY SALESMEN.)
I ALMOST GOT TRICKED INTO A 2011 FORESTER, UNTIL I HAD A  USED CAR INSPECTION WITH MY OWN HONEST MECHANIC.   HE SAW OIL ON THE ENGINE.   NOBODY ANYWHERE TOLD ME THAT 2011 THROUGH 2014 MODELS INVOLVED IN A LAWSUIT.     I BELIEVE 2015 IS GOING TO END UP BEING INCLUDED IN LAWSUIT.    ALL DEALERSHIPS RECEIVE "SERVICE BULLETINS".   BE VERY ASSERTIVE AND DO NOT GIVE UP.   MAKE THEM SWEAR ON A BIBLE IF THEY PRETEND TO BE UNAWARE.    AFTER YOU BUY A PROBLEM CAR, IT IS AN EXPENSIVE HASSLE TO DO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM.    THE CRUEL JAPANESE FISHERMEN ARE STILL KILLING A HUGE NUMBER OF WHALES EVERY SINGLE YEAR.  (UNDER THE NAME OF "RESEARCH".)    THIS IS DOCUMENTED ON VIDEO CAMERA.   MY POINT IS THAT (UNFORTUNATELY)  I STILL ALWAYS END UP PREFERRING A JAPANESE CAR.

    WARES AUTOMOBILE SALES INC
Disgusted, frustrated, and in disbelief!  Was expecting to buy red, 2011 Subaru Forester for $20,495.  (Owner had to reduce price, since, as usual, his prices are higher than other dealers)   I have large sum of cash for down payment.   Discovered car needed $245 in maintenance.   I expected some degree of repair...but the battery failed the load test.   Fox Motors said they would replace it if it was their car.   Also needed to test/rule out whether or not oil was spilled, or if the left oil valve cover was leaking.   (If) leaking, would need $313 repair!   Front brakes 55% worn.
Cannot believe Craig refused to do ANYTHING.   An unsuspecting customer could get stranded in chilly weather.
They are oblivious they already earned a reputation for being rude and over-priced...I heard positive and negative information about Wares, but 4 1/2 years ago I walked off the lot because the woman acted like she did not care...
Personally, I was as nice and polite as possible.  I had to bite my tongue and hold in my aggravation when I was ready to make a move, but owner and salesman left work early.
Chase was nice and helpful, but has no authority.  Morgan unfriendly, and unhelpful.  And the elusive Craig is apparently only concerned about profit.    They never even bothered to call me after I left, even though I would have bought the car if  they handled it properly.   Salesman did return my call however, with bad news for me.
