"HiMy girlfriend and I recently had a new roof put on our house. We checked with several roofers in the area but finally settled on
and
" after meeting with him. He was friendly, professional and most importantly he knew his stuff! Price is often a deciding factor in these cases and while
offered us one of the best prices of the bunch it was
himself that sealed the deal for us. The work was started and completed on schedule and it was done professionally. I would gladly recommend
to friends, family and others in general. I would use

"
initially proposed using
BrickMold 600 new construction windows because of the 1/8" thicker glass the Brickmold" have than the Reflexions 5500 windows. For the slight additional cost
quoted me, I was willing to consider this. Unfortunately, the Brickmold only come with nailing fins; I had 4 windows that were set in brick (the rest in siding), so to use the Brickmold would involve removing the nailing fins, which unfortunately voids the warranty. So
proposed doing the installation as the more labor intensive new construction install with the Reflections 500 windows with the nailing fins (these windows can be installed either with or without the nailing fins without voiding the warranty). I checked with my neighbor, who happens to be a retired estimator for another roofing/windows company, who agreed that using the nailing fins with the Reflexions 5500 windows wherever I had siding and not brick was the preferred method of install. For the price
quoted me, he was equal to or less than the other quotes I received, but he also included in the price replacement of two very difficult to access picture windows, including one that probably weighed 800+ pounds. He also agreed to cover the additional expense of any windows local regulations required to be upgraded to tempered glass (which turned out to include the octagonal window and the larger picture window) AND was willing to replace our old window sills (which were builder's grade clipboard-type material that had been damaged by moisture) for just the cost of the material. Lastly, he agree to both take down our mounting hardware for our blinds and put them back up when he was done. The work took nearly 3 days. Days started at 7 pm sharp and ended about 7:30 pm.
's foreman,
, was phenomenal. Besides taking extraordinary care to keep our house neat and to work around the nap schedule of a toddler, he was extraordinarily courteous and took time all along the way to tell us how each step would occur each day and to make sure their plans would not interfere with our daily activities.
also noted our concern about our water damaged windowsills, so after removing the old ones, he placed waterproof material over the over framework, then brought in an outside master carpenter to measure, cut, and
the new Certateed cellular PVC material he ordered for the new sills. The material, though very expensive compared to wood, has the feel and weight of wood, but is completely waterproof, and comes in white, so that I did not have to get the sills painted in the end. It should also be noted that all this went on while he was working with wedding preparations for his daughter! Definitely would use his company again.

How much does siding cost to replace?

Siding is critical in protecting your home from weather and structural damage. Understand when you need to replace your siding and how much it costs.

Siding

Unless they are made of brick or stone, most homes are protected by some form of exterior siding. Traditionally made of wood, siding now comes in several materials including aluminum and vinyl. Each has its strengths and weaknesses to consider.

Call and ask your contractors these questions.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  It is your money and home.  I would ask for references and take a look at samples of their work (especially the low bidder).  Make sure all are licensed and carry the required insurance.  You don't want to get a bad stucco job, so do your homework first before selecting a contractor; which may not be one of these.  Check with your local building department and local building exchange for more references on these and other contractors.  Good luck.

Alside is the far superior siding. Another option with the Alside is the Center Lock panel. It locks in the center of the panel, eliminating wind blow-offs,has a 3/4 inch profile, and carries the same warranty as the Charter Oak

Both choices have plusses and minuses.

I am partial to vinyl siding myself if it is put on by a contractor that pays attention to details in sealing against water intrusion. The better grades of vinyl stand up to the weater very well. The siding on my own home is over 15 years old and shows no signs of fading or any changes due to sun exposure and have had no problems with water entry around windows or doors. It does not dent like the old aluminum siding did or break if hit by a ball or a rock thrown by a lawnmower. As long as you save a few extra panels even if a rock was to be broken by something like a rock it is easier to repair. I will add that the earlier vinyl sidings did tend to fade but I have seen homes I sided after putting additions on that were done 20+ years ago and they look fine. Those closer to the 30 year mark not as good on the fading though. I gennerally never use the cheaper panels though so I can not vouch for them but I think that as long as it is one of the better manufaturers it seems to be just panel thickness. Just a personal opinion but if you are looking for added insulation I would use one of the 4X8 or 2X8 panels rather than the insulated siding. I can not see how insulation on the back of each panel with all the joints can do much more than stiffen the panels and I would think it would hamper the movement of the panels with changes in temperature.

As for Hardi or any of the other fibre cement sidings it is way more costly and relys on caulk or tar paper strips between the panels to seal out water. It is not very forgiving on install mistakes and must be done perfectly to get the full Hardi warranty. I was just involved with a job where the contractor did not put a few pieces of flashing in properly and his guys lapped a corner board incorrectly and the Hardi lifetime warranty was void. Another thing I did not like is that it is put in with a blind nailing method and even though this house was done to specs in this area of the install the bottom of the siding was not tight to the lower courses in many spots. They did install it to the maximum exposure and I believe if they had gone to a larger panel or even lessened the exposure by 1/2" it probably would have been fine. The other thing I saw was the paint seems to be prone to scratching durring install and to me the house looked like it needed a paint job even though siding was new. I do think that if painted after install a paint job would last many years as the product is very stable and does not expand and contract much. The one big plus I see is it tend to HELP in and area prone to fires such as some ares out West.  I put the word help in capitals because it will not fireproof the home but may stop ignition from sparks and moderate heat exposure.

"Normal" construction practice dictates that the contractor remove all tools, unused materials (that you did not pay for) and scrap, and leave the worksite in a "broom clean" condition - this would include disposing (as he wishes) of removed saleable scrap - be it siding, old HVAC equipment, metal piping, etc.

Generally, unless you are talking copper sheet roofing or decorative copper ceiling panels or such, or in some cases very old in-demand recyclable timber or full-thickness hardwood flooring, the value of the metals will only marginally pay for his labor to load it and haul it to the metal recycler - especially with painted materials, which typically go for about half or less the going "clean metal" rate.

Look at the other side - how much hassle and cost will it take YOU to cut or bend the sheets into transportable lengths (since probably 10-12 foot pieces for full lengths) and haul them to a metal recycler - who may only be open during your normal work hours so you have to take time off, and maybe borrow or rent a pickup or trailer to haul it too ? All for a couple hundred $ in scrap value. Also - in some areas - scrap dealears are now limited by law to accepting construction scrap only from licensed contractors, because of the increased problem with people stripping houses and stealing from construction sites, so you as an individual might not even be able to sell it.

's team was courteous and professional! We received a call two days before the scheduled time to make sure we were okay with the service start date. We were elated because they were able to complete our job two week ahead of when they originally thought they would be able to. The installers were professional, friendly and thorough. They expertly installed the fascia for our entire house as described in our work-order. They also left zero

of any work. It was like they were never there! Truly valued the follow-up from NLS and their commitment to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend them for any siding or repair need.

It took a bit longer than we expected because of extreme heat conditions and extra repairs needed to complete the project properly. The workers were polite and competent, willing to work with us on scheduling and special requests, craftsmanship was top notch. We did end up picking up scraps of old paper wrap, small pieces of wood and nails, but they took care of the major debris. They were anxious to make sure we were pleased with the results before leaving the project. Great crew to work with!

On the 17th, I drove through torrential downpour and hail to get home by 5 pm. We were planning to wait to eat supper until after the inspection and quote. There wasn't much rain at my house. When

didn't arrive by 5:30 I called the office to find out if he was still coming. I didn't get anyone. We gave up after an hour and left to eat. When I talked to the office the next week, I was told an excuse that

's phone got wet so it didn't work. That's why he didn't call. I didn't buy it, but I made another appointment. I had one quote at that time and wanted a second one.
When

hadn't arrived by 5:30 on 7/29, I decided to fix supper and eat. I had no confidence he was going to show up. I decided to go with the first quote. When a man rang the door bell at 7:15, 2 hours after the appointment, I was furious. He claimed

who had missed the appointment. I told the man with the lousy excuse to fire

I can't trust a company that gives excuses instead of honoring appointments.

replaced the siding on the front of my house with bevel cedar sidng. Everything

Three Rivers Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
(owner, estimator) clearly takes pride in his work and his business. He follows and advocates "best practices"--and is also practical, adaptable, and respectful of customer preference. Communication and follow-through were fine, especially since

was busy with other projects at the time (busy is good when hiring a contractor). The

crews (

) were polite, professional, and hard working despite hot summer days. Their work is sharp and tight--probably better than original. I'm confident they found and fixed a longstanding leak, one of the goals on this job. I feel I got a little something extra on this job.
For some background, this project got started when I started pulling the $^&^%@! aluminum siding off my house to
Three Rivers Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
the original cedar, which is proving to be in mixed condition. The siding on the sunny front of the house was in poor shape, and prominent from the street, so it made sense to replace the front right away while evaluating the rest. Some of the high-end "design center" exterior contractors took an aggressive "all or nothing" approach to the bid (trying to push me into a "whole house" sale).
Three Rivers Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
was lower key: recommendations without the hard-sell. They were adaptable enough to handle the defined project ("just the front for now") while other stuff was going on, including quite a bit of DIY work elsewhere on the property. Would rehire.

was awesome to work with. He was prompt, professional, conscientious and more. Beyond all of that he is an extremely nice and respectful person. He never made us feel like we were being unreasonable no matter what our complaint. I was the person who handled of the detailed and daily contact with
Three Rivers Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
. When my husband had questions or concerns that I did not agree with he was more than happy to contact him directly and did so promptly. When our paint was way too light and he had already painted 2/3's of the house, he repainted with a darker color with out complaint or any additional charge. I wish all contractors would be as honest and professional as

At the beginning of March, 2015 I contacted
Three Rivers Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
of
Three Rivers Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
about some roof repairs. He and some of his men promptly responded and identified two spots which needed repair. He gave me a very reasonable estimate and said he would be able to come do the repair during the time I was going to be out of the state. I said that would be fine and that we would settle the bill as soon as I returned. He did not do the work. About 5 weeks later I called and left a message. He returned my call and apologized. He said he had been very busy and the weather had put him behind. He would get to me as soon as he could. He never showed up. Another 5-6 weeks passed. Again he returned my call with the same excuses. Again I waited anothe month or so. This time I pointed out in my message that I had been waiting since March to have a leaky roof repaired he had promised to do the work and I of course had committed to pay him for his work. This is known as a verbal contract. One that he had chosen not to honor. I requested that if he was not going to do the work, at least have the decency to call me and let me know. He never called. Today, Jult 29, 2015, I called to find out the correct name for his business. This time he was home. I told him why I had called and I was going to write a negative review on Angie's List. He got upset and started giving me the same excuses. I ended the call.
