    Over the years I have found it difficult to get a responsive contractor for items like plumbing, electrical or general construction work.  I am not sure if these people  are just too busy, or just have poor customer service skills.  This week like many other times I called several providers trying to fix a leak I noticed.  I called three local providers and one called back and couldn't get to me until next week.  I saw Larry's link here on Angie's list and decided to give him a call.  About an hour later he called and after talking for a few minutes he said,  "yes, I need a little break from what I am working on currently, I will be there in 10 minutes."  He showed up and proceeded to knock out the repair and I am beyond happy.  Great guy and very affordable, especially considering the quick response.  Will definitely recommend him to others and use him again.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services

    We called Roto Rooter  because we were having problems with the toilet flushing, and were worried that our outside drain might be plugged up.  A plumber came when he was supposed to, asked if the toilet was the only thing we were having problems with, to which we said, yes.  He determined that it was probably just the toilet and not the outside line, something it seems he could have told us on the phone before he came.

    He checked the toilet, said there were lime deposits keeping the water from filling the bowl, and also that the insides of the tank were old and should be replaced, which he proceeded to do.  (We could have done this ourselves and saved a lot of money)

    He finished his work, the toilet seemed to be working OK.  We paid him $285.77, which could not be paid with a check, had to be paid with a credit or debit card.

    Later, my husband noticed that the water continued leaking out into the bowl instead of staying in the tank, and upon checking the parts that were put in, felt that the wrong size parts were used.  He called Roto Rooter, and was told that those were the correct parts.

    My husband had to adjust the flapper? to make the water stop running, so you now have to hold the handle down the get enough water to flush the toilet.  (our new reality)

    Now, in addition to that, (pardon the word here) but poop won't go down 95% of the time without plunging. So, I'm asking myself why we paid almost $300.00 to fix the toilet, when we could have bought a new one for that amount of money.

    He sent us a paid invoice, which added that there was "no guarantee".  Why wouldn't you guarantee your work???

    The upstairs A/C unit at our lake house stopped working and there seemed to be an issue with the compressor. We had previously used Norris Heating and Cooling to install a new water heater and were happy with the work, so we called Mark about the A/C issue. He came out about a week later to take a look at the system and do the repairs. I also asked him to do a tune up on both A/C units. I had tried to schedule the visit when my neighbor could open the house for him, however, we could not coordinate schedules. Based on my previous experience with Mark, and the fact that we were desperate to get the repair done, we felt comfortable enough giving him access to our key box and he completed the work without us there. He called the day after the repair with an update of what he'd found, the parts that were replaced, etc.
    I don't think they are a large operation and the calls get routed to Mark's cell phone. It is a little tough to schedule things with him, especially if he has a lot of jobs to do, but he is honest and fair. We thought his pricing was VERY reasonable. When he called me with the update, he even suggested that we consider swapping out our thermostat for one of the ones that you can program via your smartphone app so we could cool the house prior to arriving for the weekend. I explained that we had actually purchased one but had trouble installing it because one of the wires didn't seem to be live. Mark said it was probably an easy fix and offered to walk my husband through it on the phone over the weekend, no charge. Mark is a good guy and I am sure we will use him again.

    He has been my handyman for 20 years he never has let me down! Just recently my water stopped working. He dug up my well and put in a new pump! He is very reliable and can fix just about everything!

    Did a good job, installer was polite and cleaned up afterward but thought the cost of over $2300 was excessive.  I was in a jam and he was here, so I had him complete the job.
